LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion

There was also no mention of Monster Fighters and there's a cabinet full of them. The press release just covers their big licenses as thats what the majority of people are interested in. -

OK - abare with me but... http://www.legoland.co.uk/PageFiles/3054/Virtual%20Tour%201st%20Week.png I know thats not the Club magazine Pirate Captain - but could that be the Trader, Conquistador and Fairy? (or is that the Desert guy from the range a few years back?) -

OK - "Vampire" isn't a female version but is in fact closer to the bats in the Monster Fighter's Haunted Mansion set only in black. EDIT - of course I meant Vampyre Castle not Haunted Mansion... And these are the mini figures I was referring to: http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/Bat_Monster -

Because Lego said they were going to have a presence there and it comes about 6 weeks before the figures are due to hit shelves, so it makes perfect sense for them to show them there to create a pre-release buzz - with the movie previews, TV panels & non-licensed toys Comic Con has fast become Entertainment Con. -

Lego_group just replied to a tweet asking when they'd release pics with 'next month'. So it looks like they won't be shown at San Diego Comic Con after all... (unless they don't count 'pictures taken on display' and mean 'officially released pics') -
My Lego Store had also bagged 'em into complete sets.

My John Lewis put their box out this morning - picked up the boxer, weightlifter & gymnast.

I dont vuy Star Ways sets but after seeing The Darth Malgus mini figure on brickset, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to imagine his 'armour' (or whatever it is) made into shoulder pads for an American football player in series 8. -
The high-street department store John Lewis & the major supermarket chains (Tesco, Asda, etc) were all mentioned in the press release.

Here's a nice proposed advertising campaign from some student creatives: http://wegrowcherries.com/portfolio/chris-meaton-cristina-vant-lego-olympic-minifigures/

Errr... You do realise companies don't self-sabotage. If they wanted to stop making the collectable mini figures they'd just stop. But while it's successful (and highly so if you read recent UK trade reports) they'll keep on knocking 'em out. -

People complaining about Santa not coming out at Christmas - This series comes out in September so will be on shelves in the run-up to Christmas so Santa is a perfect inclusion. Just like the Bunny Suit guy from series 7 being available in the run up to Easter it seems that with these past couple of releases TLG have taken into consideration when the bags are on shelves & included relevant figure. Likewise the series 8 Vampire being out in the run up to Halloween - In the guessing thread I'd gone for a trick or treater mini figure. -

Ok - Going on the assumption this list is real, which of these would benefit most from a double face print? Vampire could have a scary side & a frightened side or the football player could have a muddy 'just played' face as well as his regular one. -

Thespis? What's that gonna look like - just a generic ancient Roman? If the list is legitimate it backs up what the staff in my Lego store told me last week - that they'd seen a character from 8 that would "go well with a series 6 figure". Enemy Robot or Evil Female Alien ticks the right box or even Cowgirl for the Bandit. I'm also hoping the diver is an old-fashioned 'bowl helmet' type. -
Correct. But as July 1st is a Sunday the staff at my store told me they think they'll be putting them out a few days early.

I commented on the Pirate pic in the back of the Club magazine to the manager of the Lego store & they said they were 90% sure of another figure based on forthcoming promotional materials they'd received. While they wouldn't tell me what it was they did say it'd "go well with a series 6 figure." With the pic in the Club magazine & this promo material it seems like an announcement can only be a matter of days away. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours

It's a shame Lego don't use the biggest fan sites (who lest we forget, race to post press releases on their behalf) & tease the series - release a really vague bio, or a shillouette, or give each site a pic of an accessory & let the speculation fly. Mattel did it with a DC action figure line. -

A trick-or-treater could be possible - dressed something monsterish without being the monster (in the style of Gorilla, Lizard & Bunny suit guy). Seeing how the bunny suit appeared in the wave released just prior to Easter it'd be no stretch to put something like that in the wave released just prior to Halloween. -

Saying the set will include a sports figureis an educated guess - not proof of insider knowledge. -

I was thinking about the re-use of accessories - I saw Grandma Visitor's basket turned up in a Friends set (if it hadn't before) and the Space guy's armour is used in the Lex Luthor polybag, which makes me think the Lord of the Rings 'ring' may show up in Series 8 with a groom for the bride. -
Good stuff - the Batski/Batmobile is the 1st two days of the Sun newspaper promotion in a fortnight. No Avengers poly bags in their run though.
-
If the Cosmuc Cube set contained Loki, Hawkeye & Black Widow it wouldn't sell.
-
Why is it unlikely? It's no different to the last few giveaways.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 7 Discussion

I've a few questions seeing as I'm relatively new to this: Was the series 6/7 reveal the first time two series had been shown together? (like, is it possible the pics for series 8 will be alongside 9?) The pics for 7 seem to have been around months and months before they went onsale - What's the shortest time between a reveal & them going on sale? -
