Nice idea! Despite these rims looking overly detailed compared to the rest of the car. But yes having a variety of rims would be a good idea! And these special rims TLG is using for the car, especially in this color are super weird looking. Someone at Lego seems to think slamming the Fast'n'Furious batch on some random looking car will increase sales figures. And know what? they're right!

That is the straight one. But the picture (of the space vessel) shows the mudguards that are slightly curved on top.

There are far too few Hondas in the Lego universe. And Lego's 77241 Honda S2000 definitely needs a friend :) The NSX uses some slightly more complex building techniques. Tried my best to minimize the gaps, to make it look as closed as possible. The bonnet made me some headaches. ...but looks super clean now! It's definitely worth building! Funny, City has THE best Technic Set for around 60$. I wonder if 42213 Ford Bronco SUV can compete. Nice find @Auroralampinen!

Isn't that the same steering configuration the Icon sets (like the 10337 Lambo or 10295 911) use? So sad TLG didn't go for a clever virtual pivot point solution.

Love everything about this build. The shape is super smooth, the folding mechanism is impressive. And the many lovely details are so ...uhm lovely!!

Thank you! a version without the set-restriction? Can't agree more! I was super happy when i saw that the donor set allows to be rebricked into a Z. This amazing car is just underrepresented in brick society. Which is weird as the shape is simple, but mega good looking and the old 70's technic of the original thing would be super easy to be reproduced into a Technic build, even for less experienced builders. But when it comes to such kind of build, it's your turn i guess, as i'm more into alternates.

@MangaNOIDThank you for your positive feedback. Sorry for the late response. Was to tired to answer yesterday. Why a Datsun Z? Hm good question. This set is laying around here for a while and i wondered if it's possible to build something like an "Icons" car with the given pieces. When i saw the Alt-Build Contest i immediately knew that this is my chance to find the motivation to get creative. Never would have tried without some extrinsic motivation. I just had to find the perfect car to replicate... As this set comes with some restrictions like the steering mechanism that needs a lot of force to operate, it was clear from the beginning that i'll build a rally car. So i could use the spare wheel to cover the steering axle and to compensate the force when steering. Other restrictions where the flat wind screen and the in general the pieces that come with this set. And as i wanted to build something sleek and elegant i ended up with the Datsun Z. It has some decent curves but it's completely G-rated compared to p*rn-ish look of an AC Cobra or a Jag C-Type. And just in case someone is interested in some of the build solutions used here are four more pictures. Have fun watchin. The door hinge looks relatively clean i like that... And i had to do some magic at the rear fenders... 5550 Custom Rally Van: super ugly Datsun Z (medium category)

"super ugly Datsun Z" based on 5550 Custom Rally Van (Model Team) from 1991. But hey, it comes with steering and open-able doors! wohoo!1!!! I've started a bit late with the build(Jan 26th 11o'clock), and was a bit in a hurry. Luckily the task was simple. Build a Datsun Z Rally Car out of Lego's '91 Model Team Custom Rally Van till the end of the day (contest closing). ..or at least try. But most important: Have fun! And i had great fun building this ugly monstrosity! Why the Datsun Z? Because it has simple lines. And looked easy to build. Following the photos you'll see my build stategy. Let's start with a mess... Let's get some structure into the process. These are the biggest plates and elements that can be used to build some wild angles: Update 14 o'clock: blocking out the shape... and now the fun part begins: shifting parts back and forth till all holes are stuffed. The photo above shows how i managed to change build direction using the limited pieces that come with the old set. underneath is the beauty with opened door. The rear. The last part finished, in case you wonder why it's so blocky. comfy seat and large steering wheel. in my opinion, the front is not bad! Thank you for watching!
