  1. Update.... I have now revised the part in front of the main mast. The top two decks can now be (again) removed. I have divided the upper gun deck into three parts, so it can be taken out without removing the cannons. On this occasion, I also did without the window frames at the lower gun ports, and moved the hinges up by one plate. The BrickLink order is out; I hope the build can continue after the Easter holidays. @Dashiell brown Honestly, I don't know if there will ever be a manual for L' Anubis. Firstly, I can't decide that; the idea for the ship and the basic design aren't mine, but @Supersick_'s. And secondly, revising the STUDIO file and creating a manual would be very time-consuming. I don't have much time or inclination for that. I'd rather focus on my new project(s). Sorry. Take care Timo
  2. @Admiral Bejaune Well, the funny thing is, when I was looking for an alternative to the frames, I noticed that the hull design still contains elements hat were originally intended to allow the entire upper deck to be lifted off. These elements prevent the hinges from being raised. I had already abandoned the idea of lifting off the decks along with the side walls. Since I definitely need to rework the lifting/removing of the decks—it doesn't work at all right now—I also have the option of doing without the frames and not changing the size of the gun ports. As you originally said: "frames - a trend that needs to be forgotten" :-) Take care!
  3. Hmm... The frames hold the hinges of the hatches from below. If you want to move them, this is necessary; if you don't touch them, you can do without them. I could have made the hull one plate higher, then they could have been placed between two plates... But I'm not going to change that now. However, I tried a different solution: the frame is gone, but the gun ports are one plate lower. Left side of the stairs is the new version. It could be black or tan.... What do you think? I'm not sure... The conversion would be straightforward.
  4. Hello everyone. Here are a few pictures of the L'Anubis's construction progress. I'm absolutely thrilled to see how she's slowly taking shape and how everything that previously only existed in digital form is now being built from real bricks. The future captain and his first lieutenant are already inspecting the lower gun deck and the wardroom. Unfortunately, I've discovered a design flaw: the decks can't be removed in sections as planned, revealing the lower decks. I really want to do that, though; otherwise, it would be a shame to lose the detail and the beautiful cannons on the lower decks :-) This means I have to redesign something and order new parts. So, the commissioning will be delayed a bit.... Take care!
  5. In the end, I will probably go with fabric sails. The position of the yards also fits with set sails. If I stick with the reefed brick build sails, I will need to mount the upper yards a bit lower.
  6. So, there's more news about the L'Anubis. Here it is... Well, the remaining 9000 or so pieces ;-) I'm really excited to see how the build turns out. There's now a version with a revised rigging system. The masts are a bit more to scale in height, and the fighting tops and spars are a bit finer. I've had this idea for a while, but after @Supersick_ made the same suggestion, I thought it was worth a try. The rigging is still a combination of LEGO shrouds and rope, just like the old LEGO ships had, and the same system I used for the Fer Maiden. This is just a first attempt, but feel free to let me know what you think of the new version. I'll build the old version first, since the parts are here now.
  7. Hello everyone, there's some news about L'Anubis. I've finished the lower hull and the display stand. I'm really pleased with the result. But I've learned that stability and buildability shouldn't be neglected during construction in Studio 2.0. At times, the build was very frustrating. In the end, everything is very stable now, but during the build, it often fell apart. So the hull needs a redesign, but I won't do that since it's finished now ;-) However, I will review the rest of the ship again and see if any improvements can be made. So, work on L'Anubis will have to wait until next year. Merry Christmas to you all!
  8. So, the very first BrickLink order has arrived. I can start with the display stand and the lower hull! I'm excited ;-)
  9. Hello everyone, there’s good news about the L'Anubis project! It’s always bothered me that the ship looked kind of unfinished without a lower hull, so I finally decided to do something about it :-) Now it’s finished... well, almost. I really like the front section — that’s definitely staying as it is. I’d still consider the rear part a work in progress, though there probably won’t be any major changes. I still have quite a few ideas and improvements in mind for certain areas, but for now, I’m going to start buying the bricks :-) I’m really excited to start building it! Take care Timo
  10. Well, I think she will be quite sturdy with the interior. The only concerns I have regarding her stability relate to the half-stud offsets in the hull. I'm not so sure how that will hold up under the full weight when it's built with real bricks. A nice feature would be to split the hull, like on the HMS Supernaut.
  11. Hello Nimitstexan, the project is unfortunately progressing a bit slowly. A lot has changed professionally, and I now have less time than I would like to dedicate to L'Anubis. I 've changed the color scheme and in my opinion, the hull and the rigging are finished; I think I won’t be making any more changes there. I’ve started designing the interior, but I’m not really satisfied with it yet. Unfortunately, the cost of the parts is high, so at least for now, I won’t be able to build L'Anubis with actual bricks. So, there are indeed some updates to report, but unfortunately, nothing major.
  12. Hi guys, here are the latest updates on L'Anubis progress. I have now completed everything on my side so that the ship can leave the dry dock and be moved to the equipment quay. I hope that @Supersick_ will turn the beautiful thing into a real masterpiece as soon as he has the time to do it. Unfortunately, I won't be able to invest much time in the project in the future because my professional situation is changing. Nevertheless, I will try to build her in her current form. However, this will take some time due to the approx. 7500 parts. The missing lower half of the hull bothers me a bit... maybe I'll be able to finish it at some point. Take care Timo
  13. Hi @GeoBrick, the height of the lower and upper gun deck between the deck beams is 3 2/3 bricks. A figure cannot stand upright and should definitely took off its hat ;-) Probably the height between the weather deck and the poop deck will be 4 bricks at the wheels and 4 2/3 at the stern gallery.
  14. Yay, I'm making progress. She's slowly starting to look like a ship again. I lengthened the poop deck a bit and made some changes to the stern gallery. The decks are not finished yet, and the masts also need some attention. But things are moving forward... Take care!
  15. Hello friends of L'Anubis! Some of you are eagerly awaiting news about the progress of the L'Anubis project. Well, I have good and bad news for you. Let's start with the bad news - unfortunately L'Anubis is not ready to leave the shipyard yet. The good news is that the project has not been abandoned! Unfortunately, @Supersick_ is really busy at work at the moment and therefore has very little time to take care of L'Anubis. But every great Master Shipbuilder needs an assistant :-) And that's my job now. I started implementing the changes that @Supersick_ wanted to make to L'Anubis. She has grown in all dimensions so that she fits better with Fer Maiden and Supernaut. At the same time, I adopted the building technique of Supernaut for L'Anubis, but tried not to change the original design too much. So I'm going to create the rough diamond that @Supersick_ can then turn into a jewel. That is the plan. I look forward to every comment from you, whether agreement or criticism. Everything helps me to get better and there is still a lot of room for improvement :-) The bow section is almost done...
  16. Hello @Supersick_, another masterpiece! Congratulations, please keep up your amazing work! Take care Timo
  17. Hello @Supersick_, I wanted to politely inquire about the progress on L'Anubis. I am very curious how she looks at the moment and I very much hope that building the L'Anubis will be my autumn project :-) Thank you for your great work! Take care Timo
  18. I do really like the look of my guns, especially the big ones. Unfortunately, the are not very robust and fall apart quite easily. Just something for a showcase, unusable for epic seabattles with my kids. Take care Timo
  19. Hello @Supersick_ , You're right. I've just had a look myself. No covers visible on the upper gun deck. So far I thought that the gun ports had always flaps on ships of this size. Luckily you're never too old to learn something :-) Thanks a lot. Take care Timo
  20. Yay, there's progress! :-) Thanks for the update and the pictures! Is there a chance that the upper gun deck is also getting flaps for the gunports? Thanks and keep up your awesome work, I really appreciate it. Take care Timo
  21. So, time for a little update. Not much happened but at least I finished the sails. I'm getting a little annoyed by the crew. Unfortunately I can't get the decals printed as nicely as I want them to be. I do have to try more... I think someone asked how to build the guns. The post has disappeared again, anyway I'll attach a few pictures. Maybe it's still of intrest :-)
  22. Hello @Kyle84, has the Vanguard made any progress that you would like to share with us? Take care Timo
  23. Hello @Supersick_, I wish you a happy, healthy and successful new year. Although I still havent't quite finished building the Fer Maiden, sails and crew are still missing, I would like to ask if Anubis has made any progress? Maybe a few nice new pictures have been taken that you would like to share to increase our impatience even more. :-) Take care Timo
  24. Well, unfortunately it took a lot longer to build than expected, but finally it's done. The sails and the crew are not ready yet, but I didn't want to withhold the current pictures from you any longer. I'm super happy with the result. The ship is just great. I really enjoyed the build and with the small changes it's perfect for me. I'm now afraid that I can't resist to build L'Anubis either. However, next time I have to do better with the Bricklink orders so that it doesn't take so long to get all the bricks. Thank you @Supersick_ for this great moc!
  25. Unfortunately I run out of parts and time to complete her at the moment. But I've made some good progress. I am very satisfied with my detachable shrouds, especially with the simple tensioning mechanism. So I can change between a showcase model and a play model in less than a minute. I will reduce the number of cannons on the weather deck and use my own small cannons instead. Therefore I raised the height of the bulwark by one plate. It looks still OK for me. I've started creating my own minifigure(s) as well but I am still struggeling with the quality of the stickers - and the design ;-)
