The Dark Ages are over! Martys back in Lego Town
martyboy70 replied to martyboy70's topic in LEGO Town
I've not done an update for a while so in case anybody is still remotely interested I had a spare hour today and thought I would get some pics up of whats came in since the last pics. I haven't been buying a lot of loose stuff as I've been trying to get BNIB stuff together as my sons birthday is in mid December and then of course Santa is not far behind and I'm still not working. So this is the stuff that either came in loose or has been opened and built(not the best pics this time for some reason-my camera doesn't seem to like working Sundays): At the back are the 7 promo sets which came free with The Sun newspaper a few weeks back then there are the Polybags from this thread http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=61070&st=0&p=1098946&fromsearch=1entry1098946 (thanks to RR) and some other stuff I managed to get cheap from Ebay including some stuff from the last couple of years. The ghost and bat were for Halloween and proved a great success-he made me put the lights out and then chased me all over the house with the ghost-great fun together,a bit of exercise and I saved some electricity! I have taken a couple of pics where I have an original 80s set alongside its modern counterpart to show scale differences and the problems that I now have as the newer ones really don't fit in to a 4-wide town although as my son is only soon to turn 4 it isn't a huge problem at the moment: Now this is the one that he does have an issue with: Having a tanker thats bigger than the garage its filling up creates problems-everytime he drives it in he knocks down the scenery or the pumps and as such he hasn't really bothered with the tanker after the first couple of attempts. I managed to get some more track for the train and its now running "under its own steam" so to speak via PF and the points allow it to be ran as a straight through express or to stop at the station for picking up or dropping off: As mentioned I have been picking up BNIB stuff to share between his birthday and Christmas and thanks to some real steals on Ebay and the half price sale at Sainsburys I have been able to get quite a bit together: He is Cars mad so the LMQ and Francesco will be good although I may need to build them for him-how complicated are Ultimate Build sets? I also managed to get some non-Lego stuff as well for pennies-am I allowed to post these here? Anyway here goes: -
Did you see how much they were?-I'm interested in one of these for my son.

Those pesky kids eh! Great work on this. There is a full size LMQ made from Lego which looks amazing:

One word-superb. I absolutely love it.

Got there for them opening at 8. I was mainly there for stuff for my daughter but couldnt resist picking up some stuff for my son as well so picked up: 3366 Satellite Launch Pad 7741 Police Helicopter 3177 Smart Car 7235 Police Bike 4641 Speedboat 8201 Mater Very happy with my little haul. My mate came with me and got loads of Lego for his sons birthday at the end of November he went back in at 3 and there was nothing left. If my post got some people who didnt know about the sale some bargains then Im happy with that.

No probs as I say your alarm clock is your friend as the last 2 years everything decent was gone in the first couple of hours. Find out when your local store opens and be there 10 mins before that to snag some goodies.

Just a quick heads-up. The annual Sainsburys half price toy sale starts on Thursday-50% off all Lego(and all other toys) Get there early though as the Lego seems to get wiped out early and is rarely restocked.

Sealed City & Creator polybags
martyboy70 replied to RichardRobins's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I would just like to thank RichardRobins for a fast hassle free transaction on this sale. -
Also the 4643 Powerboat Transporter has 50% off down to £14.99 making it a big set for not a lot of money!
-
Reminds me of War Within Megatron rather than the movie one: http://tformers.com/transformers_database/titanium/96/megatron_-_war_within_Decepticons_6-Inch.html Really good work.
-
What about an MOC of the fate of Crocketts first Ferrari-you would just need hundreds of 1x1 blacks!!
-
Amazing I actually started to hear Jan Hammers Miami Vice theme in my head as I scrolled down and thought this would be perfect in Miami or Vice City(GTA) and I get to the bottom and you had the same thought. Totally disagree on this. The whole point of these boats is to be fast, have good manoeuverability and to be near invisible at night-flashy go-faster stripes are not required.

Glad to be of service m'lady.

The LEGO City: Passenger Train (7938) which is normally around £100 is available from The Hut for £78.99 which is good but you can also use the code 10toys to bring it down to £71.09 which I thought was REALLY good. http://www.thehut.com/10406432.html

Fantastic review of a set I always wanted back in the day but I ended up getting the Shell Service Station as seen here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=59517 (where I too managed a couple of Top Gear references) On the subject of scale I have been acquiring cheap Ebayage to add to my (now my sons) town and acquired a good value 3180 Tanker Truck and we built it this week and hes so not happy because during the week we had to queue behind a Tanker filling the tanks at our local filling station so in a classic example of artLego imitating life I said will we fill the tanks on your garage and he was'nt amused when it would barely fit under the canopy and was too wide to fit. I think I'm sticking to classic 4 wide from now on as while the sets we got this week(pics to follow in my thread)such as the Tanker and the 3179 Service Truck are great detail and function wise they just look ridiculous next to all the 80s goodness of my original stuff. On the subject of pics from back in the day I absolutely love the pic of you with your set and hope you don't mind me posting pics from Christmas Day 1988 getting my 7745 up and running: Anyway I'm off to check Ebay for a 6394

Absolutely amazing. Im a huge Transformers fan particularly G1-until my first child came along this was one of the walls in my living room and the Prime section was probably my favourite bit: I love the fact that your creation looks more posable with more points of articulation than the G1 original who like most of the ones adapted from Diaclone for Transformers is a bit of a brick. Love the use of "The Touch"(original or not) in the video-I still get goosebumps when I hear this as it reminds me of Prime Pwning most of the Decepticon forces single handedly in the 86 movie. Also it looks a lot better than that ridiculously overpriced Kreo crap I saw at the shops the other day. The PF integration is just the icing on the cake. I would love to build one of these-is it bad etiquette to ask for instructions for peoples MOCs-if so ignore. Til all are one.

Free LEGO promotion with UK Sun Starts Oct 8th
martyboy70 replied to tbroyd's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Theres a shedload of these (HPs Lab and Trolley,Grem etc) on Ebay UK already.Clearly the staff at TRU and WHS have been helping themselves to handfuls at a time so hopefully theres a couple left for us punters. -
Think the mentality is different. Here in the UK many years of hard campaigning and stiffer sentences for those caught by successive governments has changed it from something that was pretty common into a really anti-social and unacceptable thing-I obviously dont know the situation in AUS. Also pub chains have policies of free soft drinks for designated drivers, removal of keys from potential drink drivers and phoning the police on people leaving the boozer and jumping into the drivers seat. Its more widespread in rural areas where taxis, buses etc are scarce and that may be a factor for AUS where people may stay many miles from the nearest night out. Oh and the breath test is done at the roadside here as well but random tests tend to be reserved for Christmas and New Year etc.
-
Go get em MrZ I cant stand drink-drivers-scum of the earth.
