  1. Rule, Britannia! Britannia Rules the Waves! We'll run the dirty Pirates back to their caves!
  2. That was actually the Second Battle of Copenhagen- the first was in 1801, and Nelson was involved. Anyway, great job on the figs! The Scottish mercenary is especially clever. And welcome back to our corner of the seas!
  3. That's a nice little ship! I especially like your smaller scale cannon.
  4. The quarterdeck does look better with the details in place- especially the cannons, which fit in perfectly. The boats also go perfectly on the mid section. Everything is coming along great!

I like the color red for the carriage (or yellow, if you have the oppritunity, but red is the best), but the design for the first carriage seems the most realistic. If color doesn't matter though, go with the first design. Also, are you planning on building some king of wheels for your carriages?
  6. Well thank you all for your comments. I guess that what it really comes down to is personal preference, all things considered. Since there is difficulty with building a large waterline model, I think that I'll build a small model, to see if it grows on me. Thanks again for all of your comments.
  7. At first I had thought that you commandeered one of Perfectionist's fleet! She looks like your own, though, and the mast looks especially fine. I also like the use of the hands on the bow. I just hope that you'll build her some nice head rails.
  8. The rigging looks excellent! It's looks very clean and neat. The poop also looks good- though the Captain's skylight could maybe be taller, with side windows (though the one that you have might be preliminary). The quarterdeck also has all of the proper details- though it looks a little cramped. To remedy this, perhaps you could use some SNOT techniques to have the outer hull be black, and the inner hull white, yellow, or red, like this: With a lighter color, the deck may look larger- just a thought, and it would be difficult, but perhaps the Danish Brig posted a few weeks ago might give you an idea of how to do that. Other than that, she is really coming along. Have you thought of a name for her yet?
  9. I only have two ships- there's my British Frigate, and a bomb ketch that I'm working on, after some inspiration from Perfectionist. I may attempt a waterline French Frigate, though...
  10. Nice- just watched a bit of the film Waterloo yesterday, and I have to say your troops look very Napoleonic indeed. How did you make those Shakos? They don't look like the LEGO version.
  11. His ships have really inspired me- I hope that he builds one of his frigates, or even his Ship of the Line! While I use LEGOs as a hobby, he truly uses them as an art form, and he definitely succeeds!
  12. Here's my boat for the HMS Athena. It's larger than the pre-fab boat that I have, and it has a slot at the bow for a mast.
  13. Hey, I've done a little work on the frigate. The sides are almost done, and I've made enough lids for all of the gunports. Her rating will be upgraded from 28 guns to 32 guns. You may recognize the capstan design from the Danish brig Also, I took my own shot at a lifeboat, after Wesley built his.
  14. Holy Cow! The other day you had mentioned that you had a fleet of ships, but I didn't think that it would be this amazing! The bomb ketch is a nice touch, since you don't see a lot of those as models. Do they all sail under the same Admiral? And if so, will the Superbe be your flagship?
  15. Hey, I was just wondering what other members thought about waterline model ships. I have never attempted one, but I'm starting to think about it, and I was wondering what some of the advantages are, but more importantly what some of the disadvantages are. I know that it's personal preference, but I don't know that much about building very large ships with that technique (that's the other thing, is I'm interested in how it works for ships larger than the pre-fab hulls would allow).
  16. She's definitely coming along. However, I do have to agree with Captain Blackmoor that the part of the stern for the lanterns looks off- however, rather than reduce, I think that you might benefit from having the horseshoe encompassing that part, and rounding out the edges, rather than having them curve in. I hope that's clear, but it should make her look a little more realistic IMO. Something like this, really:
  17. Very nice- I especialy like the details in the background, like the soldier carrying sticks, and the man chopping down the tree. The cannons are also very nice (though I hope that you didn't dismantle your junk for them ) The Lord is also an interesting figure- made me laugh when I saw his legs while doing his wake up stances!
  18. I'd say that you should go with brown (either dark or light, doesn't matter) so that the decks can be distinguished from the hull. Black would probably make it a blob. You could also think about grey, whether dark or light. I always use dark grey for the lowest deck, light grey for the next, and the top deck is brown. But's that's also based on the pieces available. For the top decks though, brown is probably best.
  19. It's nice to actually see the HMS Centaur (if I'm not mistaken that hasn't been on the forum before?)and I can't wait for more updates. The colony looks great too- I like the representation of stones and masonry in the rustic colonies, and the design of the roofs. Looking great!
  20. You're right, the masts were not in the right place. However, that was because I just through the mizzen on for effect- the actually location on the deck was yet to be determined. In this picture, they might seem a little more accurate. Also, you can see that the sides are almost done. What originally was just going to be a small redesign turned into the construction of a brand new ship. Anyway, here's the photo: As to the pants question, this is the figurehead from my HMS Surprise 3 years ago, which was draped in cloaks like a tunic. Now it's just there as the goddess Athena showing a lot of leg.
  21. Looking great! I was afraid that you weren't going to add the boomkins, but you did, and you also added the plank along the side of the ship for the anchor fluke (I'm sorry, I'm not sure of the name), which is a nice touch as well. However, one thing that I feel could be worked on is the design of the doors at the bow- you could do better than a 2x4 and a silver stud- and it's fine details like that that makes you ship so great. Just please fix the doors, and the bow will look perfect.

Looks good! Usually (or least for me) non-LEGO solutions look out of place, but you did a great job making it fit. How does it fit though? Is it too loose or too firm in the hole?
  23. Well, I've almost finished the rebuilding of the hull, so tell me what you think. She now has a beam of 24 studs, which is much more accurate than before, and allows for proper recoiling of the guns. Also, I redesigned her mizzen mast to something like the masts of Phred's USS Constitution. Here's a few photos:
  24. Excellent! The Masts do look sturdy, and I'm glad that you didn't pursue the inverse slopes below the crow's nest- they did look a little out of place. It's also great to see the stern taking shape. Great Work!
  25. Very nice- you obviously worked very hard on her, and it shows. Just one question... How much will you sell her for?
