Heck yes

Saying there is no wall which makes the place open for attack is a pretty poor reason for not liking the combined sets, in my opinion. If anyone is really concerned about that, you can use 7948 Outpost Attack to fill in some gaps edit: I'll post a picture of my desk. I have the joust, MMV and MVR as well as the blacksmith. My apologies for not having a more visually appealing set up, but space is very limited

I agree with this. I have all three sets and they intertwine very nicely. The MMV is where the MVR farmers bring their stuff and it can be set up around the joust to provide entertainment

Thanks for the review. I think I'll have to order this on bricklink soon.

Do you have a link to larger images?

LOTR + Hobbit Sets - The Continuity Errors
smitty9999 replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
In the movie, there were no LEGO characters or buildings. -
Great job. I can't recall this baseplate being used often for MOCS

This looks really good.

Yes the LOTR figures are very nice but the sets they come in leave much to be desired.

Thanks for the review.

Review: 9474 The Battle of Helm's Deep
smitty9999 replied to Lego Otaku's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thanks for the additional pictures. After all the wonderfully detailed reviews here, I can fully say that I will not be buying any LOTR LEGO. Instead, I'll save my money for 6086 and other classic sets, probably the guarded inn as well. -
Thanks. I'm fortunate to have owned this books since the 80's and looking through your images and compared to my current LEGO collection, I can see that the books influenced my sets. I have a lot of civilian castle sets as opposed to military ones.

any shots of the interior? -
The figures are really nice but the building leaves much to be desired.

I like the dark pictures. It's quite fitting for the title "a knife in the dark"
-
What a fantastic job. Once LOTR has run its course, I would like to see a Castle theme that emphasized civilian buildings, such as something like this stable.

I like the old school trees

The Real Canadian Super Store recently had a sale (I forget what %) on the Kingdoms set as they were on clearance.

None of these sets interest me what so ever, except for Gandalf Arrives.

I'm fortunate to own this entire series. I think the Dark Forest Fortress is a great set that is often overlooked. I'm sure in the right hands, some really clever MOCing could be done to it.

[MOC Scene] Mill Village & Market Village

Great work. I own all the sets pictured, so now you've given me some inspiration for my own MOC. -
Has anyone ordered from a European country on BrickLink? There are some sets that I'd like to get which are pretty cheap; I'm just afraid of outrageous shipping fees.

6086 Black Knight's Castle extended version
smitty9999 replied to brickbuilder007's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Great work. I love seeing classic castles being modified and turned into something more playable with extra floor space and towers. -
I'm going to throw some pictures of each set in here and a small write up. 6090 is my favourite Lego castle. It's a beautiful design with large front entrance and a guard / ghost house. The interior of 6090 is very spacious and includes a well and a dungeon. A 2nd level is visible around the front of the castle for archers. There is lots of room in the side of it for some customization for a small blacksmith or weapons shop. 6036 is labelled as "Skelton Surprise" but I took the skeleton out of it since I think its lame. I use it as a small outpost instead. I decided to throw in 6034-1: Black Monarch's Ghost in the picture for no particular reason. I changed his shield and head feathers. In my Lego world, he decided to leave the Black Knight faction and join the Royal Knights, where as his counterpart 6009-1: Black Knight, is aligned with the Dragon Masters. I really like 6079 the Dark Forest Fortress. While it's not much of a fortress, it really gives the feel of a forest outpost. I had to change the roof of the wagon since I lost the original pieces. The set has two tall towers to watch for attackers and a small guard house to control the inflow of goods to the main building. The large tower has a jail in the top and a small room at the bottom of it. There isn't much going on from the side, it has a strange catapult but it has some room for some customization as well as a ramp leading to a small stable. The rear of the set shows the stable on the left with a rest area on the right. Once again, there is some room back here, with about 3 or 4 studs until the end of the baseplate is reached which can allow for an expansion of the stable and rest area.

Great work. I really like it when people incorporate complete sets into a MOC.
