At first, I also focused on the scale of the lego set, but this led to errors. So I decided to focus more on the original car and the general perception. The extra volume of red is created by the middle part of the model, namely low thresholds. But this can only be fixed by adding a suspension, as on the original car, at least I haven't figured out how to fix it yet.

I had to tinker, but in my opinion I managed to make a visor over the windshield. Tomorrow I plan to finish the retractable section of the roof. Also, if the flexible red axles have time to arrive, I want to redo the arches over the front wheels. In the meantime, write your comments, what else can be done.

I also considered this option, but as I said, I don't have these new white connectors.

I added a visor over the windshield. What do you think is the best option?

And this is how a car looks with its doors open. You can also consider a fake engine, ventilation grilles and, most importantly, a keyhole on the gas tank lid.:)

Yes, I have experimented with them. The old panels better convey the lines of the original machine and, like the original, a window appears. In addition, in my works I try to make it not only beautiful but also playable. If you look closely, then in this photo you can see how I implemented the fixing of the roof lifting mechanism.

I don't really like it either. I tried to make it out of corner connectors, but it was even worse. Now I have an idea, I will post a photo later. For an ideal implementation, it would be possible to use the new connector 71682, but I don't have them:(

I am glad to present the preliminary result of my work. I just need to add the front seats, the torpedo and finish the rising roof compartment. Functions: 1) fake engine 2) rear axle with differential 3) opening doors 4) rising roof compartment (still being finalized) 5) HOG on the roof 6) folding table in the salon

So, it's time to have a cup of coffee, walk the dog and think about the implementation of the remaining part of the car.

The doors could be made using LEGO PART 71709 Technic Panel 3 x 7 x 1, but they don't exist in red. I see no reason not to use them. I think it's better than modern 5*7 panels and headlight stickers. Although in the latest sets of Techniс, the lego company does this:) It is also worth remembering that we need to build a physical model and we are limited by the details available.

I finished working on the back part. If there are any changes, it will be only cosmetic. According to my calculations, this time I definitely hit the scale.

It seems that I have finally found the perfect implementation of the rear part of the body and a new option for using the white arch:)

Brought the chassis to the correct scale. You can compare: the front view is the old width, the rear view is the new version.

Today I was building the roof of my Volkswagen. During the construction process, I realized that I would still have to reduce the width of the chassis by two pins, since otherwise it would be impossible to get into the scale at all. The dimensions of the original are 4290x1750x1925. Now I will try to bring the dimensions to 35x15x16 studs. I wish I had listened to your comments earlier, friends.: (

If I understand you correctly, you are talking about red bushings. I have already replaced them with yellow ones to deepen the wheels relative to the body, as in the original. But it will not be possible to completely remove them, because the front wheel is held on a brown axle, which does not fly out because of the limiter. If I remove the yellow bushings, the axle will interfere with putting the caps on the disks.

I agree with your comments. My model is one stud wider and one longer than the original set, because it is difficult otherwise to make the transition from an even System to an odd Techniс. Making the model narrower is problematic due to the limited size of the wheelbase. To fully match the scale, wheels of a slightly larger diameter are required, but unfortunately, there is a problem with wheels having the correct aspect ratio in the Lego line.
