Thanks too for help with images and a big shout out to brilliant @Yperio_Bricks who's patience went above and beyond, teaching me what is obvious to most over on the Help topics! There is very definitely an element of 'form over function' but, as for many others, I have to share space with family and SHMBO was not amused when I showed her the labels at Brick Architect's Site.I thought about retaliating with some pointed remarks about the mess on the ( my display!!) shelves but I'm not that brave(stupid) More seriously, I have catalogued every last Lego item on a Brick Store database (another major exercise in IT incompetence , Youtube was my friend) along with drawer and division location. I keep the database open when building and its really easy to lookup where things are, also the drawers pull straight out so can have relevant ones to a particular part of a build sat on desktop. Editing the locations is a bit of a chore if I want to rearrange any drawers as locations are all text in remarks and comments fields - there is probably a better way/system for doing this but with my limited ability/knowledge this was the best I could come up with. I have to admit that I was somewhat surprised that there was not a more formal set of fields/system in these trading databases for stock locations as I imagine it must be a whole lot of work when buying and selling stock routinely (I'm not a trader), maybe it's there in the paid for systems but as we already established, I'm tight as a duck's a..e

I am slightly lacking understanding again though, the link produced by Flickr this way doesn't seem to have the /filename.extension format I thought was required, just some sort of code (to my eyes much like the Google drive link that doesn't work), I'm not doubting you just maybe I should just stop concerning myself! Image size - do you only take/make/upload images of the correct resolution? If not, I assume this method uploads the native resolution which may be too large for EB? Since I can't find what my phone produces and Flickr seems to keep it a secret, I've been hitting Enlarge to right of Share - View all sizes - then choosing a suitable size - right clicking image into new tab then copy and pasting the URL. All of which is soooo much longer than your Share tip. I tried my first post this evening so I wait with baited breath to see if it worked (seemed to at my end).

With this topic surfacing again and having recently finished my workspace thought I would show too! It started as some shelves to replace some manky 50's units in the box room , I thought I was going to display my MOC's here but was far to slow off the mark - all the rubbish will be sorted one day and I'll grab a few shelves back from the chick-lit One thing led to another and I built the desk for general office activities, thinking how to support the desk I decided to build some basic storage for my Lego which was languishing in Ziploc bags in crates, not easy to use. Having already had a fit about the price of the birch ply for the shelves all the trays are from re-sawn shipping pallet - more money for bricks , right? Much better than the crates but I'm not getting any younger and crawling under the desk got old quickly so this area has now been relegated to bulk overspill storage. I'd have loved some large format draws like @allanp just showed us but the room size didn't suit that format (wife said NO!) so these are what I came up with: I was fortunate to happen across an eBay listing for a pallet of birch ply offcuts (nearly a cubic metre all told) for peanuts money but all quite small pieces which kind of dictated the design. This meant the depth of the under desk trays and the drawers doesn't match which does bother me a bit but not enough to alter the trays (yet!!) All the drawers are modular and can be swapped to arrange parts as I wish. one day I might make some double height variants. All the drawers have configurable dividers. The drawers have larger stacking 'bins' on top for bulkier items like PF motors and battery boxes, wheels, tracks etc. The final part was more general storage (flattened boxes, instructions and sticker sheets) as well as stations for our printer scanner and my new toy the P1s 3d printer (lovin' it) Last bit to do is make some pick bins out of the leftover birch for all the pins instead of the loud colour plastic items lurking under the desk but that can wait for next year and no it is never normally this tidy!

One last query purely out of interest: Back when I first tried posting images in 2021 my brother had previously made my business a very basic website, I really wasn't very interested in it for the business (ungrateful swine that I am) but since I was paying for hosting space got him to load the lego images to the web server. for me. I pasted the following link format into the post: www.companyname.co.uk/filename.jpg It showed fine in the practise forum but when posted for real, some could see it and some not, seemed to depend on the browser the reader was using, did this happen because I had omitted the http(s):// prefix? Bruv couldn't sort it for me as we lost him shortly after and I've been fighting the same illness since 2020, just so you know why I'm asking my dumb questions here!

@Yperio_Bricks Thank you so much for such a clear and concise explanation. So I have to find somewhere other than Google drive to store photos out on the internet, somewhere that returns a link with filename.jpg when the image is opened in a new tab. I see on many posts people say use Brickshelf or Bricksafe, unfortunately they have not been accepting new registrations since 2020 to my certain knowledge which has added to my uncertainty, also I have read on here that Flicker are getting restrictive about how one uses their site. I will take a look at the Directupload.eu site you show in your examples, once again thank you so much for laying it out so clearly for me

It would certainly seem the case that many people are confused by both the need to host externally (didn't read the guidelines and confused by the 'Drag file here...' bit at bottom of reply box) but also the mechanics of linking is also confusing to many judging by the number of posts with image links that lead nowhere (I don't mean the hosts that restrict UK access) I tried to read everything back in 2020 and much of the explanation available then dated from many years earlier and had already been superseded (toolbars that no longer existed!) and as far as I can see nothing formal has been added since, maybe my IT incompetence is stopping me finding it. My most recent formal IT training was for Toshiba Tosdic 247 distributed control systems back in the late eighties and the hard/software was acknowledged as well developed (read mainstream obsolete) at that time (but largely bug free). The secretaries had terminals on Vax clusters, am I showing my age? Not complaining because I really appreciate the huge amount of time that @aFrInaTi0n and his colleagues must spend keeping this site running for our benefit, would just like to contribute something more!

Hello, When I joined Eurobricks (2020) there was a forum to make test posts in order to get to grips with the way the forum worked, has this area been discontinued as I cannot find it? The reason I ask is that back then I tried posting images from my own server space with mixed success (some could see them some not) and so I have not attempted to post anything (images) since. As I understand it the forum has undergone some major updates and I reckoned it was time to try again preferably in the test area. Finally is there a current up to date description/sticky topic etc of how to post remote hosted images? I have struggled to find anything other than random snippets, out of date info and the links in site guidelines are broken/circular. I understand the principles of (and reason for ) hosting images externally but have limited IT knowledge, to get to grips with why I struggled before eg. I see the phrase BBcode mentioned but have no clue what one is!

I have no problem whatsoever with TLG running their stores, selling their product at prices they choose etc. in markets of their choice in order to maximise their profit if that's all that matters to them. I'm certainly not advocating (and never did) parallel importing or suggesting price controls, no, this is not essential food or healthcare but this decision does effectively go a long way to withholding pre owned, more affordable, product from those nations. None of the above is the issue at stake here. What has happened here is totally different, TLG have taken (bought) control of something worthwhile (and through the catalogue that TLG would never publish it goes much wider than BL marketplace itself) that was good for everybody (including themselves), that was born out of the best of motives and improved by the countless hours of work by millions of fans, something that many of us feel wasn't theirs to have (in a moral sense) and the acquisition of which left many of us with a feeling of deep disquiet. It seems we were right to be worried as they appear to be incrementally, systematically dismantling it this latest action being part of a growing list. Their core business didn't need to do this to survive so one has to question their motivation and the only one that makes any sense to me is pure naked greed. This dog in a manger attitude has been on increasingly open display for some years now and it leaves a thoroughly unpleasant taste. As regards tax affairs, individuals (and entities) are responsible for their own tax affairs not TLG or anyone else, many tax authorities do require businesses to routinely divulge sales records for the authority to cross check taxpayers submissions and yes they are asking for more detail from more organisations, but how hard can it be for a completely digital business like BL to produce a quarterly transaction report to hand over for ten or even two stores??? I would contend this is the final goal, starting with BL as BL is the workaround for AFOL/MOCers if B+P was closed down! B+P has always been a half arsed operation with mainly only recent elements available on an adhoc basis, it has always been my belief that it is a convenient means of disposing of excess production volume rather than a core service to customers. My comments here are not aimed at you personally but as the most vocal TLG proponent here (I assume you are not TLG?) some of the flak is gonna come your way out of pure frustration!

@MABAll of the reasons you surmise for this action are all reasons why TLG should never have bought BL in the first place. The direction of travel is clear, by the end of the decade BL will be merged with BaP and likely neither will exist in the current form as TLG stifle the trade in used parts/sets to boost their direct sales. There is a very simple reason why first world countries have so many more stores per capita then ROW and just to cut out the less privileged nations is despicable and totally at odds with TLG moralising. You hold up Ebay and Amazon as exemplars - they are exactly the same as TLG, profit above all else because, lets be blunt, this is all about the money. The increasing trend of big business attempting to homogenise the world in order to streamline their own activities holds a great deal of responsibility for the rise of extremist politics as people try to push back in the only way they can. You suggest that TLG are doing this because they cannot guarantee consumer rights in some markets, how does withdrawing help with that? The sellers and buyers in those countries now have no option but for the majority to trade only with domestic market where consumer rights continue to exist or not exactly as before. You, like me, are located in the UK, a nation that has, in the main, separated from the EU, from your remarks I gather you trade on BL. If I were you I would be very worried about how long it will be before UK are on BL's black list, as has already been mentioned we are already nation non grata with a number of organisations!

I'm firmly in the simple motor club, I have motors from 4.5/12V through 9V and on to PF. I do have some PU as I received 42100 as a gift. Since TLG stopped PF I have purchased from 3P motors of Chinese and German origin now totalling over 50 mostly PF XL clones but also 12 Cada micromotors. TLG micro motors were great in their day (I have 3 still functional) but once mounting clips and power connector are attached they're not so micro. Anyway by way of contributing to the topic about 20 pre PF Lego motors, 30 PF family Lego motors against 50 3P (30ish PF clone) motors and counting. No plans to buy any more TLG motors with possible exception of 2 Large Angular PU which I will convert to PF connectors.

According to some Modulex fan sites, a year or so back the rights to Modulex which was hived off by TLG years back were purchased and there was a project to relaunch Modulex architectural bricks. TLG didn't want that so they bought out the relaunching organisation and canned the project. We obviously will never know the internal family politics but from the outside it doesn't look good. So the endless repeated login requirement seems to have gone away (for me at least) so I thought progress was being made but.... I use Brickstore to manage my collection and for the first time since the merger I fired it up to import some recent purchases made through BL in August, finding it non functional and doing a bit of googling it now it seems TLG have f..k.d up the ability of Brickstore and many other third party apps to link with BL - way to go!!! Even more incredibly Studio too. Not news to many of you, I'm sure, but its left me sitting here gobsmacked. Its a small thing in the scheme of things for me, its a hobby and I can go elsewhere to enable it but I really feel for those of you who run(ran?) stores on BL. TLG say go boil, your head, the workaround is to export XML and then use that in capable third party apps, trouble is that feature is only available to sellers which I'm not. So TLG, you've taken years of hard work and dedication by huge numbers of individuals who have evolved a highly sophisticated, integrated, robust software environment and those who contributed content, one that supports your business and you smashed it to pieces in one bout of corporate greed. Dan Jezek must be spinning in his grave TLG are either mind numbingly stupid, lazy or as many feared are doing this deliberately. Given TLG recent behaviour to likes of HA Bricks and the deliberate dog in a manger scuttling of the Modulex relaunch amongst others, I'm inclined to see it as deliberate! Even if the former is the case I'm sure corporate pomposity and pride will stop them rolling back the changes and with no meaningful communication from them.....

Was never happy with TLG acquiring BL and the account merger hasn't helped to settle any concerns. Since this merger was implemented I have had to put in my birth year (yeah right!!!) and location every time I login, is this what everyone is seeing? It's really aggravating and I object to having to provide that information in the first place. I for one will be moving majority of my custom (buyer only) over to Brickowl as from now, see you all there soon!

Amazing result. Really like the tubular frame and the tank is brilliant shape with no great gaps. Kick stand nicely tucked up and it holds the bike when deployed! Observations of a lifetime biker: As per Steph's comment in the WIP thread seat is high - not gonna sell many of these to the ladies :-) of more concern to me as a prospective rider would be the centre of gravity- its gonna be high with the engine so high in the frame would make it 'interesting' to ride, I'm guessing the gearbox is wrapping under the engine and so pushing it up? IRL it would sit more behind and above crankcase but IRL would not need so many shafts! Would never guess you started with little knowledge of bikes.

Looks good to me, there is no right unless you're trying to model an existing object! Like you say the double wishbone 'girders' front suspension is far more robust when large degrees of rake are applied hence why they were so popular on more extreme choppers.

A bit of biking terminology for you: A traditional cafe racer is a post war era machine designed to mimic race bikes of the era with street available parts - a tuned motor and frame mods to 'improve' handling. The stereotype is the Triton - a Triumph vertical twin motor in a Norton featherbed frame, clip ons, polished alloy tank, rearset, minimal seat with a back stop hump and steepened fork rakes 'clip-ons', these are short sections of handle bar (one for each side) that are clamped (or 'clipped') onto the fork tubes under the top fork yoke so as to leave the rider almost lying on the tank for least air resistance. Rear sets are when the foot pegs are moved backwards from the frame manufacturers mounts usually with alloy plates. This would necessitate reversing the gear box pedal and so changing the direction of gear change, alternatively a small parallel linkage would keep selection direction as original. the rear brake pedal was often just shortened. Many old brit bikes had gear levers that operated in reverse ie 1 up N 234... down - this is the opposite to most modern bikes which are 1 down N 123456.... up The 'double wishbone' suspension you are implementing is similar to what would be known as 'springers' or 'girders' very prevalent in seventies 'choppers' where you can see some pretty extreme examples with radical rakes (search Arlen Ness for show bikes) Telescopic forks are the norm in standard bikes, originally with tubes at top and stanchions (the larger diameter part) containing the damping mechanisms at bottom, nowadays 'upside downs' are the desired look as they are stiffer and look better - these are what the current lego 1:5's use. Over the years many front suspensions have come and gone, Earles type front forks, a type of front swingarm on BMW's MZ ETS's and bikes with chairs(sidecars) otherwise known as outfits, common on Moto Guzzi outfits, the front swing arm taken to the extreme on the Bimota Tesi with its 'hub centre steering. BMW have utilised something they call telelever which is a combination of a wishbone at high level in combination with telescopic struts, the springing and damping being in a coilover on the wishbone not the teles, had its merits (looks were not one of them!) but was (is?) largely superseded by upside downs. The look that you appear to be developing would often be called a 'streetfighter' with styling cues taken from the drag bike scene -lengthed swing arms etc. the other polarisation is with very sloped high back ends for the wheelie/stunt fanatics. Urban is often the combination of large capacity cruiser power plants (Harleys etc) into streetfighter type chassis - Buell's would be an original exemplar All these styles from the custom scene are eventually imitated by the mainstream manufacturers. Looking at online articles in Back Street Heroes magazine and its offshoot Streetfighters magazine (amongst many othe rsources) will show you the wide range of styles - what is currently fashionable and its terminology but pretty much anything goes so do what looks right for you!
