  1. Because it is. I have to say, the donut shop building still looks rather squished in, but not as bad as I thought and with the green building being actually part of the station I am way less concerned about it than before.
  2. I like that the green building is not a separate building but part of the station.
  3. As far as I know, 60250 was only released for special retailers in the US, in Europe I haven't seen it anywhere else but the LEGO shop at the 9,99€ price. (some retailers buy it at LEGO and sell it for about 15€ or even more) and I don't know about Asia. So there is not that much need to discount because availability is limited.
  4. Imo I think this modular will look better standing alone than in an arrangement with other modulars. The two buildings on the sides are so narrow, that if you connect different modulars to a street they will look squished, whereas as a standalone it looks like it's a cut-out. I may have preferred the station to be on one side off center and one building on the other side. But the buildings themselves look very nice
  5. There is always the possibility of getting something at a lower price than the price you paid for said something. If you did your homework, which means you compared prices of local and online retailers, factored in shipping, you know what bargains certain retailers may give regularly and you bought at the price you expected, then don't mope about it if it eventually gets cheaper. You bought it at the price you thought it was worth. Most of the time stuff doesn't go under certain price limits, unless it goes on clearance. If you didn't do your homework, well that's on you, there are people who order from lego on release day and then bitch about the price when they see it 20, 25, 30% off in shops as if that was a surprise to anyone.
  6. At first I thought it was way shorter than the 2016 hull but it's just the way the superstructure is built that makes it look shorter. 30€ for 5 minifigs+shark and a nice boat plus the little submarine would be an awsome price, especially if gets discounted by retailers, it would come in at 22-24€. The 2016 boat went for 40€ so I would have thought the new one would come in at at least 50€.
  7. Well to make any sense there would have to be 3 traffic lights instead of only 2 so that already messes the whole thing up. They just put everything on for a nice photo. P.S. The 50kph limit also does not make sense if we are in a town. For example, a no parking sign would have made way more sense for a city set
  8. Well that's the former seat of the Bank of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire and built in a Neo-Renaissance style that was still popular around the 1900s and this particular style was popular throughout World. You could put this building in any city in (Central) Europe and it would fit in. So you are right it's not really a typical Italian style. Italian Renaissance or Venitian/Italian Gothic would be a more representative style for Italy. Maybe something like the Doge's Palace, other Palazzos or the famous cafes at the Piazza San Marco.
  9. Imo houses in the Friends line are better, colours are awful though and more pricey.
  10. Maybe the hideout will be an exclusive/D2C, which would make sense of the fact that it wasn't in the catalogue (except for the small pic with all the other sets) and isn't on the distributor's website. Also waiting for the 3-in-1 surfer-beachhouse 31118 in comparison to the same priced family home.
  11. Yeah but unfortunately the sets are not that great (at least for me). Maybe the command truck but not as a fire truck but a big semi-trailer-truck, if I can get it for at least 35€ instead of 50€. The helicopter can fit a stretcher in the back, I would have liked more focus on that than the big water rockets. Also doesn't contain a new helmet. The two smaller sets are too simple, the ladder truck is 4+ so that's ok but the hazard truck is just fugly.
  12. Seems like they want to be attractive towards kids again and they may achieve that. Sets look way simpler, especially the fire and police sets. The mobile fire command is basically a new 60216 without helicopter, crane and building but way more affordable at half the price. Guess they already abandoned the shitty "water" pump. Unfortunately the simpler design means it's uninteresting to me. The new road system fits the new simpler approach, you can quickly attach and detach buildings and other stuff, so it's easier to rearrange your city and to put it away when play time is over. So I doubt they would bring in new molds for tram/train tracks, the road is expensive and complex enough for kids. Maybe when the concept is proven and sells like crazy. I like some of the Great Vehicles, the sportscar is really nice, as is the tractor and the camper. The My City stuff (they don't advertise them as such on the pictures of the boxes) .....I don't know. Some stuff is nice, some isn't. Shame there is no picture of the hideout, that's the most interesting set in this wave judging from the leaked pictures.
  13. I never understood why there isn't a selection of basic city/town stuff that isn't redesigned on an (bi)annual basis. Just have a patrol car, fire truck, garbage truck, ambulance, excavator, tow truck, normal cargo truck, bus and even (smaller) basic building like a small police/fire station, doctor's office, gas station, garage/work shop etc available all the time and additionally bring in the special themes and stuff like action police/fire or sets for the tv series with the named minifigs. Certain stuff like public transportation is way too small for a dedicated subtheme. A bus and a tram, that's basically it, with respective stations or hubs, trains or subways are already here (and halfdead) or impractical (no underground). Thinking of some elevated monorail, well that's a nice thought but nothing more.
  14. Well ok, if you account for that and reduce the price by about 20% to match the "normal" price difference between DK and other countries then it becomes more palatable. And I agree, having a preselected range of sets to be combined by the customer is much more realistic and affordable than other things they tried. So they just have to put certain bags and instructions in the box and the other thing is the individual box art, but with today's digital printing that's also much more easily and cheaply done and both processes can be automated.
  15. The idea is nice because it would open the possibility to order certain buildings/cars without unwanted ancillary stuff that is often part of the set and is just there to raise the price. But 85$/€ for 2 building facades (out of at least 3), 2 vehicles (out of at least 5) and 3 (!!) out of 11 minifigs and one animal out of 4, not even one minifig per building/vehicle, that's just outlandish. I mean the ski resort 60203 is somewhat comparable in size (ski patrol station and ski shop, snow plow truck and helicopter) but that comes with 11 minifigs + dog plus snow mobile, halfpipe, rail and tea stand and all of that costs 80€ (retails for around 60). Or take the Police Brick Box 60270, a small police station (about the size of the one shown here, if not bigger) a patrol car, a crook's pickup, a motorcycle, an atm and 4 minifigs and a dog plus the box and instructions for an alternative model for 40€/$. If the price would come down and there would be a nice selection of stuff it may work, otherwise it's a pricey gimmick very few people have a use for. P.S. Fun fact, the adult and kid in the background of the picture showing the box prefer to play with the ski resort as well.
  16. If you read through this thread, there are multiple themes people claim that have to come back because "it's time". Starts with Construction/Mining, Coast Guard, Volcano Explorers, some Outdoor Police etc. Doubt all of that will come back, at least not as themes. Wasn't there talk about TLG abandoning the theme approach and just releasing sets as they see fit? Would 60286 be under Great Vehicles if there was a Coast Guard theme? Who knows.
  17. I don't think there are videos of the sets yet. All I found the past days were basically people showing the leaked instagram pics of the swiss catalogue for commercial customers.
  18. I like the camper, the tractor and the green SUV in the buggy transport set. Imo, fire sets don't look good, just as the prison transport set (tiny wheel dragster and the huge prison truck are just a mismatch). Hideout may be a nice set, looks like some SWAT-Truck driving into the building with police roping down from the helicopter. Modern family home looks way too small, just a facade with a balcony/terrace and a driveway with a small car. But a relatively big piece of new road attached, so that's a big part of the number of pieces. Skate park might be a nice scenery piece, Lego should have kept the car out and made it 10 $/€ cheaper. But I need better pictures to ultimately decide.
  19. Looks like they merged the 2 vehicles from 60184 and 60072.
  20. According to stonewars.de all "My City" sets will have a piece of road included. Which unfortunately means, that for example the 60291 family house with 388 pieces will have even less pieces left for the house if a brickbuilt road is included. But we will see how that works out, if it's a driveway or just a piece of road in front of the house or both.
