[COR- FB Class 2] Hornet
Edmund Babbington replied to Edmund Babbington's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@evancelt thank you I will have to take a look. photography is not something i know much about :) sorry its distracting. also was trying to make the 13th cut off date so some rather bare bones posts. I was trying to add some minor story, roleplaying, other elements depending on how one thinks of it. did not just want cold bare bones posts but was a bit pressed for time. i have a bolt of light canvas for making ship sails. I originally came upon this whole forum because I run a kind of miniatures pirate game invented by steve jackson of steve jackson games called evil Stevie's pirate game. id imagine others around here have played or at least heard of it as well :) So i have piles of ships. just they are built to the pretty standard designs of the original lego builds. I wanted to lean into the MOCs for fun and found this forum. -
Iron Rose is a Lugger style short range merchant vessel. it is well suited to short range interisland trade voyages. Apparently the skipper of this vessel also thought those two islands were further apart than they are. this appears to be a reoccurring problem. maybe someone should set up some kind of warning?

Hornet is a trading vessel built for short range. A trading vessel built for short range inter-island exchange, the current owner of hornet wanted it to have an appropriate coating of paint before it began its maiden voyage. Here you can see it barely threading the needle between two islands. apparently the skipper thought they looked much wider apart than they actually were.

Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
Edmund Babbington replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
With suggestions from my last build in mind I'm attempting a ketch: I am still waiting on pieces but this is what I have thus far: Is the prow a bit much? I can't decide. Also it feels like it needs more details but im not sure what kind of thing to add to it frankly? Thoughts suggestions everyone? -

@Wellesley i do have a shorter top mast i could install but im not sure there is room to put it in? I could cut the raised quarter deck out and make it flush with the rest of the ship? that might give me more room. currently if i put a mast back there it would take up the whole little quarter deck. perhaps i could make the quarter deck a bit bigger? overall thank you for the thoughts. i will see what i can do about changing the rudder pattern. i see what you mean with the fore and aft of the design having yellow near the top it does look a bit odd with the yellow in the middle @Count Vroskri thank you for your thoughts and suggestions. I have been pretty happy with it and hope to tweak it a little more before posting it -

hello everyone. I have been working on this design for a small coastal trading vessel. hopefully its not too derivitive, but i can only think of so many things to do with hull pieces. anyone have any ideas for improvement? the working name is "hornet" -
A Compendium of Corlander Military Units
Edmund Babbington replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Unit Name: 32nd Regiment of Foot "Broadlake Borderers" Unit Type: Light Infantry Picture: Description: The Broadlake Borderers are oddly enough from a region on the border of Corrington called the Broadlakes. Due to the cragy terrain and tall grass of the Broadlakes region, it was found that a single cartridge box ("Cartouche") slung on one side tended to get wet, damaged, or simply be out of reach. To correct this difficulty each solider is issued two small cartridge boxes that are worn at the intersection of their belt and shoulder straps. Oversized spontoons are carried by Sergeants as a mark of rank. Link: -
While marching along the outskirts of Port Raleigh the entire 32nd Regiment of Foot is halted by Colonel Broadlake. It is a testament to the training of the entire unit that the only words heard are a series of echoes of the command to halt. Only the first company can see what is happening. A collective wry grin slides across their faces as they see the reason for the unscheduled halt... A troop raising build for Port Raleigh.

Settlement: Port Raleigh, Annetta, Corrington
Edmund Babbington replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Doctor Babbington's doctor's office newly established in port Raleigh. (Small Artisan building) -
When Dr. Babbington arrived the only reasonably sized structure he could acquire to practice medicine in was originally intended as a post office. The bright colors put off the good doctor but he had little choice in the matter and so he signed the paper work and began moving in. Being the only medical doctor in town he was aware of he hoped he would quickly acquire sufficient business to begin paying off his many debts...

[COR- Free Class 1] Borzoi
Edmund Babbington replied to Edmund Babbington's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thank you all. I must admit to being rather intimidated by the sheer quality of the builds here. But you got to start somewhere right? -
Dr. Babbington has leased this vessel at not inconsiderable cost considering his already minimal means... Formerly a personal yacht of a retired commodore, Borzoi still sports a rather patriotic paint job. It is fast and maneuverable although not designed to be armed being a civilian pleasure vessel.

Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion, Era II
Edmund Babbington replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I see. Well I am scrounging/ordering parts for the build. If the faction is boosting Port Raleigh then I will place it there unless something changes.Thank you @Ayrlego for the information. If i am reading the map correctly that island is contested? Is that why we are boosting our presence there? Thank you @Professor Thaum for the invitation to Tortuga but for the moment I think i will plonk the practice down in a Cory town :) -

Edmund Babbington replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thank you all for the welcome :) (I have read through the rules. As I understand it, I get both a free license for a small building and either a class 1 or 2 ship license?) (I am working on the MOC to represent the doctor's office. Do I need to speak to someone about which town I can place the building in? ) -

I have the pleasure and privilege of introducing to you, Edmund Babbington, M.D. Most recently graduated from medical school on the mainland. Dr. Babbington has found himself at the top of his class in grades but at the bottom in wealth. He has therefore secured a personal loan and a grant and is looking to make his way in the colonies. With the money he has secured, he is hoping to start a medical practice in one of the colonies. He secured passage on a ship and packed as many of the latest medical devices and medicines as he was able to secure. He has heard of many new discoveries in the field of Natural Philosophy and hopes he can contribute equally to the field of Medicine. Dr. Babbington is hoping to study the diseases of the new world, explore, and make a home for himself in Corrington's colonies.
