Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
Greshi210 replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
That's really strange. Do they only sell the bodies in Scotland and the heads in Germany? I'm confused and waiting eagerly for my package to arrive. 🤣 What did they say? Will they send you the heads now? -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
Greshi210 replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
That's what I was told too, but the order summary says 6364809 "elephant no.7, head no. 1", so I fear I will only get the head 🙈 The order was shipped yesterday, so I will have to wait and see what happens 🤷♂️ Somebody in another German forum said that the body is blocked from sale and that you can only order the head (at least in Germany). Which would be a shame as I explicitly asked whether that was the whole elephant and the rep actually said he looked it up and yes, it was the body and the head which come in one bag together. It's a mystery 😔 -
I wholeheartedly agree. In addition it's also a great display set.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
Greshi210 replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thank you, good to hear that it was the same with the mammoth. I ordered trunks and pins too to connect the trunks. I had alread ordered them in another online order, but the elephants couldn't be ordered online. -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
Greshi210 replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
I called in to the German customer service today because I had a missing piece in my last order and then was able to order all the animals from 60307 and 60301. They are on backorder and are supposed to come back into b&p some time next week. I was surprised that the big elephant is cheaper than the small elephant. The rep said that both body and head are in one polybag together. The order summary only says 'elephant no.7, head no.1'. So does anybody know whether both parts are in one bag (or whether I will only get three elephant heads in a few weeks 🙈) ? -
[REVIEW] 40516 - Everyone is Awesome

Sounds like a plan 👍😀 -
Thanks for your answer, I guess what you say about Lego designers thinking about making sets for children makes a lot of sense!

[REVIEW] 40516 - Everyone is Awesome
Greshi210 replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'd say that it would be sturdy enough but not heavy enough. It's a fairly solid wall and the way it's built makes it quite stable. But the weight of the whole set is not very heavy so it would probably get pushed aside fairly easily. -
I didn't ask, but your modification is absolutely fantastic and looks so much better than the original version. I wonder why Lego's designers didn't design it that way? I guess what you did with the tires counts as an illegal technique, doesn't it? How stable is your build in comparison to Lego's original?

That's great because whether it's easy to combine the two systems will decide if I buy the sets. So I'm looking forward to your review! 👍

Well, I guess it is in America. In Europe hardly anyone knows it except for architecture students maybe... but what I meant was that this was a lesser-known building that was mainly chosen for its architectural appeal, not for its fame. I was referring to stand-alone sets not skylines. But you are right, these are not really well-known and their architectural value is quite doubtful. As I said, I don't mind these landmarks, but I would also prefer additional buildings from other places. I wouldn't mind if those were chosen for architectural value rather than touristic appeal. I couldn't have said it better and completely agree!
-
I know what you mean. I'm doing a rebrick of Robie House at the moment and that's real architecture. However, I understand why TLG are going for such well-known landmarks and I actually don't mind that too much. But I would have preferred more unique buildings that they had never done before to Taj Mahal and a smaller (and more affordable) version of the Collosseum (, which of course, strictly speaking isn't in the Architecture line). Regarding MOCs, I'm unfortunately rather bad at that, my only attempts so far have been some digital renditions of Skylines of Lübeck and San Francisco (before that became an official set), which looked ok but not overwhelming.🙃 That's what makes this choice ok if not exciting for me.

That's an excellent idea and makes it more likely I'll get the lion set too as I actually thought it's a bit on the expensive side for just some lions 😇
-
I'm a bit on the fence here. On the one hand I'm really disappointed about the less than creative choice of the Taj Mahal, as there would have been so many never before made interesting and architecturally valuable buildings, so that almost any other building would have made me happier. I also don't like Lego's growing gigantism, every set for adults has to be at least 2000 parts! I miss some mid-sized 50 to 80 Euro sets in this line. On the other hand I have never bought the Creator Expert Taj Mahal for different reasons and I'm sort of a completionist for the Architecture line. Added to that I've managed to buy almost all Architecture sets with a discoint of about 40%, so that would put this in the 80 euro range and then I guess I will probably buy this one anyway and hope for an interesting build next time 🤷♂️

Hogsmeade and COS sets are online (and you can also see how they fit together with Murtle's bathroom and the forbidden corridor) and unfortunately they look really good. I say unfortunately because I had actually planned on skipping COS and the other Hogwarts sets as I've got all the other sets from 2018 to 2020. That's going to be expensive..

Ah, thanks a lot, I'd never have recognized such a rather obscure character from the Wizarding World.

I've just had a look at the leaked images of this year's sets and I'm wondering who the figure on the tower in the CS set is? I mean the one next to the white owl. Is it supposed to be Trelawney? Maybe you've already discussed this, but I haven't read all of the comments on the last 258 pages, so apologies if this is already well-known to everyone but me!
-
That's actually exactly what I meant, some sort of circular playset, maybe with the revolving room with the many doors in the centre and then the different rooms of rhe ministry placed around it. Although I don't remember whether the revolving doors room was actually in the film

That would be a very odd choice for a Lego set considering it's a symbol for an event in which almost 3000 people died. But then there are supposed to be a space shuttle Columbia and a Titanic comic out this year, so maybe Lego is planning a disaster series (sorry, it's not funny)... And welcome to the forum! 🙂
-
Maybe it's a Cloud City style ministry set. As this set wasn't really popular among StarWars fans (except for the minifigures of I'm not mistaken) that might fit the description as 'lowered expectations'...

Where do you see LEGO in 30-40 years?
Greshi210 replied to HappyAFOL's topic in General LEGO Discussion
What I would find cool and also think might happen is that Lego will have moved into AR by let's say 2040, so that you can incorporate your real-life builds into an AR-environment. I imagine it to be like in the old Lego catalogues that were around when I was a child and I wondered how it was possible to build these huge background landscapes for the actual sets they were selling. So you could have a huge virtual city background and drive through it with a real Lego car for example. Of course that would only work well with AR headsets, so no mobile phones would have to be used, which frankly is stupid if you have a physical toy that you need your hands for to play with. So AR would really make a combination of Lego and digital products possible and potentially even enjoyable. -
For me best case scenario would be something in the mould of the June Hogsmeade Set. Worst case would be more Arts sets or Brickheadz of hardly known side characters. There was some discussion about Sir Cadogan earlier. When I read that, I thought that maybe Lego might do some sets that recreate the moving paintings in Hogwarts like the fat lady or Sir Cadogan and his horse. Who knows, maybe that's one of the mystery sets in August that noone might guess at?

REVIEW: 80024 The Legendary Flower Fruit Mountain
Greshi210 replied to Pchan1983's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
In Asia and Oceania it will be available in 'normal' stores while it's going to be a Lego exclusive in Germany, unfortunately.- 10 replies

This was intended as a joke by zusammengebaut. It's not real info on a real set. I don't remember what they were actually making fun of, but I think they sort of reenacted their yearly trip to the Nuremberg Toy Fair by inventing numerous sets that were so ludicrously obvious fakes that noone could actually have taken it for real info (as long as you're a native speaker of course 🤷♂️).

Hogsmeade is stunning! I really love it! The bathroom is ok and the two Hogwarts sets are stunningly terrible, with the Chamber of Secrets one slightly less bad. Maybe they look better in official pictures (that's sort of my last hope for these two sets), but I especially don't like the sand green roofs 🤷♂️
