New Lego 10223 Kingdoms Joust Exclusive
andhe replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
No, I'm pretty sure these are the current standard lion and dragon knight torsos. Would have been nice to have some non-standard heads as well... but the falcon armour, shield and barding and pure 'win' :D -
New Lego 10223 Kingdoms Joust Exclusive

Is the Queen's hair actually black? It looks it in these pictures but is brown in the 'official' pictures. Would be a bit odd to change it from the advent calendar Queen minifig. Would be nice to get some different head prints (the noblemans head is quite common, I've got a load and not too keen on them :P). The excitment seems to be over the NEW figs/prints, so a little bit disappointing they've used mostly currently available figures/pieces (other than the green princess, noblemans torso and falcon armour). The peasant torso could be changed to the newer (mill village raid) one. Are we likely to see any changes between now and production? -
New Lego 10223 Kingdoms Joust Exclusive

I'm only seeing 2 falcon shields (one on the knight, one on the stand) unless people are looking at the doubled up set picture? A falcon squire boy or general soldier would have been nice, and I give up the tower/gate for a smaller structure and a drop in price more in line with the MMV, but all in all some great figs and a nice build so can't gripe too much (as much as we AFOLs like to :p). -

A-MAZING. So glad we've got to see this set after all the rumours. The lion noble man and green dress are a nice new addition, as is the black falcon Knight (though Iwonder why they gave him green as his secondary colour ratrher than blue? Like the old black falcons?). I doubt this indicates an introduction of the black falcons, but more like a AFOL friendly inclusion to generate a bit more exciting (and as someone mentioned, keep the tradition of the solitary black knight). Probably wouldn't get two, as a single set is nice enough to display, but clever that TLG are luring people in with that suggestion! Feel this might be Kingdoms' final hurrah. -
Do you think we might see this exclusive revealed this weekend at the various lego events (Brickcon, Steam etc)??????
-
Though he does appear to come with a grey hood? Unless it's the light. Will the booster packs contain a figure, or is the packaging just showing what character the booster weapons are for?
-
I think you're probably right, I'd be surprised (though pleasantly surprised) to see a large dragon castle, it tends to be the heroes/protagonists (in this case the Lion knights) that get the traditional King, Queen and castle (I know the trolls got one last time, but only a king). That said think it would be great if Lego went away from the classic King and castle dynamic for the next wave and introduced a more viking/barbarian style theme. Replacing Kings with lower level warlords/chiefs, this way each set can have it's own clan/faction and the whole theme could have a less 'clean-cut' feel (ie not armour, tunics, princesses and grand castles), but more forests, wild animals (bears for the castle theme pretty please!) and snow-covered fortresses... (yeah someone did mention a minifig scale heroica another thread...)
-
At first glance I assumed these figs would be slightly larger than minifig scale, but if, like you point out, the man's hair is the standard minifg size hairpiece, then that would make these figs a similar scale would it not? If so the hairpieces could make for fun anime style massive hair on a regular minifig. So what do we call these? friend figs?

New life jacket incoming
andhe replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Actually we've had it in the UK already, it was in a promo polybag version of this set http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=30015-1 See this thread also http://www.bricksetforum.com/discussion/comment/14067#Comment_14067 :D but nice to see its finally entering fuller usage. Would look great in black as well. -
If they can release microscale versions of minifig scale exclusives, perhaps they'll do the reverse and produce minifg scale exclusives of 'microscale' (kind of) games. The general feel/theme of heroica (barbarians, wizards, goblins, dark caverns and woods) would make a interesting change to the usual 'king and castle' centric Castle theme (though probably not for those who didn't like the fantasy era elements).

I didn't :D... and I can tell a mis-print from a 'custom' piece when I see one. But thanks for the insight, I'm sure it does happen.
-
That was AMAZING! Thanks for sharing. The robots involved are incredible, the precision and programming and quantity of everything involved is mind-blowing.
-
Not quite a misprint, but more of a 'non-print', I bought these shields off an ebay seller. They now form my Crown King's personal guards. Need to rush home and check my pig now!

Yeah I imagine her a bit like Lady de winter (?) from The 3 musketeers, but the main idea stemmed from needing a female dragon fig, but a queen/princess didn't seem to fit with their current wizard led (again an assumption) faction. Also I'm sure a dark green hood would be hugely popular. Yeah another gray horse is probably more likely than a new mould for a donkey, but would be cool nonetheless. Having now read through your other two similar older threads I'd also like to suggest a 'half-way tavern' in the style of MMV. It could be thought of as an update to the guarded inn, with a stable and mixture of factions and peasants. Would fit nicely with my dragon maiden carriage idea, imagining she has some top secret meeting with a lion traitor. I would also suggest a bandits hideout, maybe in a rock/cave. In a dream world this would include the new bear mould (mainly because I hope we will see it appear in a castle set).
-
Edited as I had improvements to my ideas... I attempted to do some stats based on the previous line of castle but am sure my predictions will be way off....! A large 'baddie' base would be good (seeing that the trolls got their fortress, but don't know how well that did?). If we do see a king, I'd guess he'd be on his own (no queen) as the grumpy/evil queen role seems to be taken by the lion queen (or that might just be her face). Maybe with an eyepatch or scar and some personal guards. But basically a slightly rundown castle with a moat. I was going to suggest another dragon carriage (as the skeletons got one last time) but as we've had a smaller dragons carriage then maybe not. An update to the maiden carriage would be good. A mysterious dragon knight female (with dark green hood!) in a small carriage with one soldier, being ambused by two 'bandits' (a nod to wolfpack would be awesome), mainly because I don't see the Lions as the attacking type. To balance this all out the lions would need some siege equipment (bow/battering ram etc) in a lion favoured 'vs' set. Or a border checkpoint/outpost, similar to the dragon prison rescue, a wall with a couple of lion knights including a mounted one... and perhaps some bandits thrown in for good measure trying to cross the border, with stolen goods. Another civilian based set would be good, maybe a carriage/cart...with a donkey...(please!). This could be based around a well, and have one figure with donkey and cart, another child figure herding goats/pigs. In a side note, it will be interesting to see how the Joust exclusive will fit in to whatever the bring out, as two warring factions joing together for a joust could change the 'storyline dynamic' a bit.

Is this a list of EVERY set to be released next year? So no chance of sets later in the year? If that's the case it looks like the Joust exclusive could be a final bow for Kingdoms (hopefully a mind-blowing fantastic set of a final bow), and hopefully will see some sales on Kingdoms sets (STILL waiting for the King's Carriage to drop by 30% to make it realistic) and I guess that means I can spend more money on the marvel/dc stuff instead EDIT: Just read the post above which ninja'd mine. Wow, LEGO really do release ALOT of sets don't they, if this is just the first wave!!
-
Lord of the... Dance? :p
-
The new sets for 2012 are: Minotaurs vs Centaurs Pegasus vs the Gorgon Spartan vs Army of the undead (300 figures of each) Elf River Fortress Goblin Mine of Death Oh wait, I just woke up :P. Yeah guess we will see what the final (?) waves of kingdoms will be early next year. Probably some smaller sets to accompany the Joust exclusive (sooooooo hyped about that, if it's anything like the MMV).

If you were going to produce custom items for sale.....
andhe replied to Jargo's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Yeah I have seen their stuff, and am surprised they've remained under the lucasfilm lawyer radar, when even the original designer of the stormtrooper helmet was getting sued for reproducing models of his own design! I guess they don't explicitly say it's a 'star wars whatever', but more leave it up to obvious observation (I think). I'd second the idea of beer mugs and similar accessories, or things like umbrellas, walking canes (!!!), crutches/wheelcahirs and craft tools (a proper wall paint paint brush perhaps). -
This is great! I always enjoy seeing MOCs made from limited resources (ie just the original set) and attempts to 'supersize' an official idea by combining multiples of just one set. I always felt that the trolls' mountain fortress was a bit flimsy, and just a bunch of walls. This has a much better fortress feel, and some great little play features as well.
-
Thoughts... The sets aren't appealing to me, but the bright colours and over the top nature of the theme will undoubtably do well with their target market. I'm not really liking the blocky pieces for the new snake people, would have prefered something a bit more subtle. Having said all that, the booster packs look intriguing and a possibly great way of picking up some interesting parts and weapons (do the come with a figure? I'm guessing not, maybe just an extra battle card?) Some great new moulds and parts (snake staff, 1x1 flat round tile and others) but on the whole one theme I won't be tempted by!! (I say that now...)
-
Great to seem more of the CMF parts making their way into the lego mainstream. Hopefully this clip will be something like the brickarms clip, for all us lego purists. Is a loose jurassic park tie-in totally impossible? Could be a clever attempt to use the lego theme to drum up support for Spielbergs rumoured JP4? He's worked with lego before on the studios line, and is good friends with George Lucas... Look forward to see the printed dinosaurs and set pictures soon.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion
andhe replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Here's hoping TLG just do what they did with the series 5 Royal Guard and just stick 5 in a box. Give the people what they want! More romans = more money for TLG. Fewer romans = more money for re-sellers.
