  1. Do we have a price list to go with it? I think that’s what will tell us a lot about these. It does make me think that the classrooms will be like potions and that they will all fold into that size. I also really doubt we will have places for them all and I hope no one is expecting that. I think it’s going to be a matter of choosing what’s best for you. The packed in rooms which will be more niche and given less attention or the classrooms that they can sell on their own. You can decide if you want your castle to have all the common rooms or all the classrooms, not both. They aren’t going to make sets with 4 empty basements.
  2. I could see the Mirror challenge getting remade as an extremely barebones module like the bathroom and hufflepuff common room using as few parts as possible.
  3. No, for HP. We’ve seen the summer wave get moved around all the time depending on the country. US had the sets first in 2018, then delayed a month in 2019, then delayed two months in 2020, etc. Just saying I wouldn’t be too surprised if the January wave didn’t actually end up being January everywhere
  4. Oh- I forgot this year is 2024, not 23. Maybe I’m just getting old or maybe it the HP line’s fault for not having clearly defined chronological years anymore like it had in 2018-20. That must be it. I don’t know anything but just based on my past experiences with Lego HP, there’s a good chance the wave will be delayed until March in some countries. That’s usually how it goes.
  5. 7 HP sets coming in January, apparently. Equal to 2023. Can’t really speculate much until we at least have prices though. When do we normally find out info about the winter waves?
  6. In the US the 2024 sets are all still full price. Even for older sets it seems like Hogsmeade, Dumbledore’s Office, Dobby, and the Patronus are the only HP sets on sale at Walmart and Hogsmeade and the Astronomy Tower are the only sets on sale at Target.
  7. How much is the D2C meant to be again? Not sure if I’m planning to get it or not. Also not sure when/how to buy all the sets I want this year (all the new castles, the ship, and probably Hagrid’s Hut). Do I wait for the GWP for certain sets? Do I wait for sales? No clue but June is nearly here and I think I’ll survive waiting a bit for a sale greater than 10%.
  8. I’m going to have to replace all my water made of 1x2s now. Although assuming these are 0.08 on PAB or even 0.10 it’ll still probably be around the same price replace all of those and finish my MOC as it would’ve been if I kept buying 1x2s for 0.07
  9. The new wands are interesting. It seems like they’re trying to soft launch these so they can easily drop them depending on if people like them or not. Saves them the embarrassment from fully embracing a change and having to backpedal like they had to with the brooms.
  10. I honestly love this great hall, even the interior (at least of the hall itself). The overall shape is obviously the most accurate we’ve ever seen, and leagues ahead of the squashed 2018 model. It’s got the little tower on the visible side of the hall’s exterior for the first time in minifig scale. It’s got the second lower layer of windows for the for the first time since *2001*. The entrance is also easily the best we’ve ever seen on a proper Great Hall set. We’ll see how it compares to last year’s version once we can see it better but I at least appreciate the effort to make it 3D and brick built instead of just a large sticker. Yes I miss the arches over the windows. I’m not a big fan of how the central tower turned out either. It’s not perfect but it’s still easily the best exterior for the Great Hall. Everything around it is also the best we’ve ever seen. The rocks are definitely better than 2021 and 2001. The 2018 courtyard is laughable compared to 2023 and the Sirius Black/Battle of Hogwarts mismatched courtyards don’t really compete much either. It’s nice to have the railings around the outside of the Great Hall too.The stairs are too straight but they exist for the first time in minifig scale. They’ll be mostly covered by the boathouse anyway so I’m not too bothered. The interior of the hall itself is also great and has as many pros and cons as the rest of them. Yes the 2018 version technically had four tables but really it only had two rows of tables broken up in the middle. Personally I’ll take two full length tables over four half length ones. The banners also look great and make a lot more sense than always having to display two different houses at a time or just the Hogwarts crest of the 2021 version. I don’t mind the golden owl not being here since it wasn’t always there in the movies anyway. The candles are finally actually floating on clear bricks for the first time since 2001, if you even count those giant floating flames. The sky isn’t perfect but it’s another thing we’ve never seen them try before. It’s a shame to loose the fireplace but taking it all in, it still seems like the interior of the 2024 version is at least as good as the 2018 version. Now the basement rooms… are another discussion. They aren’t just empty hallways though so that’s a step up over most of the Hogwarts sets we’ve seen in recent years.
  11. That Aragog is terrifying. Unlike the 2010/18 versions I don’t know if my arachnophobia could cope with owning it.
  12. I think it’s about 11x25
  13. The problem is, they’re trying to have different colored interior walls but leaving tons of gaps in those walls. For this to work, they needed to at least not have the back walls full of gaps and holes. The 2001 sets had more complete walls.
  14. The interior looks around 33 studs long and around 12 studs deep. Considerably larger than the 2021 Great Hall. No fireplace in the Great Hall this time around. That’s a shame. The front of the rocks in the Quirrell image look a little flat from that angle. Figures all look great though.
  15. Probably the least interesting set based on the title so hopefully others show up soon. Looks nice enough though. We never got around to a 2024 thread did we? Also cool to see a husk finally return
  16. Woah hold up are those new wands in the Ollivander’s Display wtf?
  17. I’m only seeing 6 photos. Great Hall interior, Malkin’s, lifestyle photo of Ollivander’s, buck-beak without accessories, and two mandrake pics. Do we have more than that? The general shape of the Great Hall is the first time they’ve got it right since 2010. Definitely a worthy upgrade of the exterior looks good.
  18. HOORAY! Looking good so far although I’m not sure about those underground sections
  19. All past reveals have been on weekdays, but do we know what time they usually are? Next week is certainly plausible but this week isn’t really over yet.
  20. So… the current/upcoming system then by the sound of it?
  21. Yeah it’s really any day now. I’m so excited for it. Haven’t felt like this since 2020. Haven’t gotten any of the winter wave sets yet (waiting for sales or a GWP, do we have one this year?) but they’ve looked great.
  22. The real question is what style the ghost will be in. Glow in the dark or monochrome grey. Or blue again. Personally I’m most looking forward to seeing what the Great Hall looks like for the same reasons as everyone else. I’m interested in how the sliding rooms will work too. The Durnstrang ship will be nice to see too. Do we know if/when there will be a HP GWP this summer?
  23. This is the most excited I’ve been since 2020. In recent years almost all of the Minifig scale sets have been easy to imagine remakes or easy to imagine castle blocks (even in 2021 we had the leaked early versions so we knew what to expect then). Meanwhile even after the descriptions and background instruction image, I can’t really picture what exactly the Great Hall or potions class will look like. I’m not certain what the small scale Durmstrang ship will look like either, mainly because I’m not too familiar with ships at whatever that price point would be excluding the carriage. Are these expected to be out on June first everywhere? I remember in the past we’ve had them in June some places and August in others.
  24. Compare that to the last few years of small sets: 2023: Cho polybag and that’s it for anything under $35 2022: Dumbledore polybag, and the Carriage with Harry and Luna if you’re counting $20 sets. Surely Draco and two different options of sets for Harry+Ron is a better offering for kids with low budgets than the last two years? Looking at the distribution of Ron/Hermione in general in recent years: 2022: 5 pairs (2 in one set), 1 standalone Ron ($120), 3 standalone Hermiones ($30, $50, $80), plus two more standalone Hermione figures in the trunk and GWP. 2023: 5 pairs, Hermione in the RoR ($50) and Ron in WWW ($90) 2024: 3 pairs, plus two solo outings for each (Ron both $15 and Hermione both $38) It’s the first time we’ve had a set with Ron under $45 since 2021 and the first time we’ve had a set with Hermione under $45 since the last wave of Hogwarts moments in early 2022. 3 different options for both characters in sets $38 or less seems pretty good to me compared to the last few years, even if Ron’s solo sets are cheaper than Hermione’s this time for the first time since… 2018?
