  1. Some people had the idea of Newt being his school-robes self with a bowtruckle as accessory, great way to get Hufflepuff colours Weren't the robes in FB dark blue instead of black?
  2. We've known what figures were coming in the Hogsmeade set since the names and descriptions leaked. Early versions of the figures were also shown in the preliminary images.
  3. LEGO didn't know if theme would be successful in 2018 so they gave us characters that either weren't coming anywhere or weren't being released for two years just in case the line was cancelled. Also they had the decency to change/update the prints when they were rereleased, which apparently isn't being done for the DA Harry. I have no issue with any of those characters being remade with new prints. With the exception of boggart snape they're all important characters that kids and collectors should be able to get easily. First people start believing Nono again and now they're falling for this again? Have I travelled back in time a year or are we just doing the forum 's greatest hits? Most importantly how do I work an otter pun into this?
  4. Harris!Dumbledore has shown up in three sets and Gambon!Dumbledore in two though Harris!Dumbledore has shown up in three sets and Gambon!Dumbledore in two though Harris was included in 4 sets, Great Hall, AC2019, CMF2, and Hogwarts Castle 2021. I did mess up the ratio though, It's 2:1 Harris to Gambon.
  5. It's a shame that milestone isn't claimed by a character that was gay on screen (or even off-screen at the time the minifigure was produced). Actually have there been minifigures for any characters who are confirmed to be gay on screen? I know Valkyrie is was meant to have it confirmed but I'm not sure if that actually happened. On the topic of Dumbledore figures though it is rather odd that the blue Dumbledore hasn't popped up anywhere since CMF1. The 2:1 ratio of Gambon to Harris Dumbledores in general is a bit strange.
  6. With how disliked the wave seems to be by those who've seen it that's not saying much. I guess the wave really is terrible or we get a really good D2C.
  7. Gringotts, a motorized Hogwarts express, and a quidditch pitch are the only minifigure scale sets I could see making good D2Cs (even if I wouldn't like 2/3 of them). I think there is significant possibility though that this D2C isn't minifigure scale, especially considering this is HP's 20th anniversary. A brickbuilt nimbus 2000, micro Hogwarts with landscape, and Ford Anglia all seem plausible. Cloud city is an ok comparison but even then cloud city was a circular city made into a circular playset. What shape is would the ministry of magic be? Also if I remember right cloud city wasn't a massive success (and that was a set people had wanted for a decade and a half unlike the ministry which doesn't have as much demand) and I'm not sure LEGO would repeat it.
  8. The ministry would be an incredibly messy D2C since it doesn't have an exterior. The only ministry related sets I could see is getting would be smaller playsets.
  9. On the topic of where fluffy is meant to go I assume he is meant to go in the green section above the shorter building. Thats where he was in the original set and I don't think there's really any other place for him. He can't be on the first floor because the trapdoor needs to go somewhere and he's too big to fit in the tower. The harp is also probably a separate build so the set can be displayed without the top of the harp poking out above the green roof.
  10. Quirrel getting a new face print seems odd. I guess this confirms a standard version will appear in the sets with the new print?
  11. People now seem to be under the impression that the full wave will be more minifigure scale anniversary sets which I don't think is the case. The out of order prices and high piece counts make me think something is still going to be off with this wave. Wouldn't be surprised if either first two or second two were minifigure scale and the others were something else.
  12. I know POA isn't everyone's favorite but calling it a POS is a a bit extreme.
  13. The issue with a flying lesson set is that it would be based on the exterior of Hogwarts which really isn't the focus with these anniversary sets, I'm personally predicting another quidditch set (I would prefer a castle expansion though, even if it's in the new style). Quirrel is the interesting one though. I think a gold Voldemort is odd enough since he only came in a blind bag which has been out of production for awhile and a single $20 set, I wouldn't be surprised if plenty of kids didn't have a normal Voldemort. Quirrel though was only included in a $100 set which will be gone soon so even fewer kids would have him. I can't imagine them doing a gold one without also rereleasing the standard version. I guess this means we will be getting the full PS/SS challenges which I wouldn't be opposed to (the 2018 mirror looked ok but I wasn't a fan of how it stuck out the back of the half tower which already looked odd on it's own, plus the idea that we were meant to put a figure on the little platform in front of it was rather comical as they would literally smash their face into the mirror).
  14. Only $0.50 per minifigure? That's incredible value. This would also be a great army builder set and I'm sure many of us would pick up a few copies. It's pointless to guess without knowing what the sets are. Since they're "disappointing" it would be safe to assume there won't be too many. For now I'll guess there will be three new parts. Feel free to make your own blind guesses and we can all come back here and see who guessed correctly when the sets are revealed.
  15. How about the old favorite best/worst possible setlist. It's been a few days since the last round. The random rule this time is that every set must include at least one Dobby. $70- Shell Cottage with dead Dobby $130- Brickbuilt Dobby with standard Dobby for scale $40-COS quidditch set with evil Dobby $30-Hospital set with apologetic Dobby I have no idea if that's the best or worst but it's something.
  16. The only good memory I have about Cursed Child is getting to go to a midnight release for a Harry Potter book which is something I wasn't able to do for the others. Comparing it to TLJ is extremely unfair though. There of plenty of people who like TLJ and in recent years its reputation has grown more positive from what I've seen. While the few who have seen the play seem to like the visuals for the most part reactions to TCC are extremely negative. Reactions to TLJ are divided but reactions to TCC are entirely negative. Also despite the efforts of some fans TLJ hasn't been erased from existence or removed while cannon while TCC basically has. Any time the HP books get new editions TCC is not included. As for LEGO products we won't get anything until there is a film adaptation which I really don't see happening. A TCC movie wouldn't happen because it's a good story that needs to be told, it would happen because people want to see a Harry Potter reunion. The issue there is that I don't think many of the actors would want to reprise their roles, especially Radcliffe. The most I could see is getting would be a filmed version of the play and that wouldn't really be enough to warrant LEGO sets IMO, especially considering FB only got two sets and a few minifigures. If we do get a D2C Hogwarts express, a set based around the 19 years later scene does seem plausible though. It's too niche for a play scale set (and would need too many new prints) but it seems like something they could do for a large D2C.
  17. That's already seven figures and there are only seven in the $80 Hogsmeade set (including golden Ron). I'm sure LEGO would want the shrieking shack in scale with the other buildings so I doubt it would be more than an $80 set even including the whomping willow. There could be one additional figure, probably a werewolf Lupin but I doubt LEGO would include the entire Malfoy trio.
  18. The discussion of trees earlier has gotten me thinking about us not getting a forest set with this year's primary wave. It's a shame since I think last year the format was really perfected. The forest sets were never my favorites but they were always a bit of fun and the last two gave us some nice figures. The only thing I can maybe see us getting this year is an Aragog's lair remake as the $30 set including Aragog with some larger legs and a more substantial lair. It would fit well with the brickbuilt creatures theme of the June wave and it would be a very easy skip for those of us with the original (unless they include Fang). The only thing that makes me think that's unlikely is that if LEGO was going to make a larger set for the scene I imagine they would want to include a Ford Anglia and it's probably too early for another one of those even for LEGO. Maybe this will just be a tree free year then? (Other than the advent calendar which will probably have 1-3)
  19. I wouldn't mind, it's not like these castle sets will be displayed with the rest of my castle sets. I'd be disappointed that the forbidden corridor trio don't get their relevant costumes but it doesn't matter which Hogwarts sweater is used. For me the major issue with the June wave is the ugly square staircase tower. In terms of figures I think this wave is fine, solid even if the Forbidden Corridor Hogwarts robes get replaced. A few very desirable new characters (Crabbe, Goyle), a few other new characters, and some variants we've been wanting for awhile. Nothing too shocking or amazing but it's not bad either. Plus we're getting some desirable new creatures which makes up for a less interesting year in terms of figures.
  20. They were, but Hedwig was still numbered before the burrow whereas this year the $40 set comes before the $30. It's also odd for there to be two exclusives in support of a wave with only two standard sets. The incredibly high piece counts for everything but the $30 set just makes things even more strange. I hate constantly referencing and analyzing individual comments from forum members (constantly analyzing everything a leaker says felt much less weird last year when our "leaker" wasn't directly involved with the forum) but people who didn't like the June wave probably not liking the August wave just makes this even more strange. What exactly do the June and August waves have in common? None of them had PPP even close to the PPP for the August sets (with the exception of the $29.99 set) so I'm assuming it's not more castle blocks. Is it just that they're from the earlier movies? I really have no idea. With how confusing the information we have is and how we know whatever we some up with likely won't be remotely accurate with how "surprising" the wave supposedly is there isn't much point in speculating about the August wave. It's too open and unpredictable for any speculating to be worthwhile. Until we get any new info we're doomed to just keep repeating the best/worst wave wishlists until we go off topic and get locked. Really makes me miss the Otter/Hare antics of last year.
  21. The Mattel micro figure is an exact match for this art down to the angle of the head and crossed arms. I wouldn't be surprised if this art was also given to LEGO as I imagine both were produced and in development at the same time. The original visual dictionary from 2010 also shows a few sculptures in the background of early designs for a few HP characters. As for best/worst case scenarios the worst would be remakes with interesting new figures and minor set updates. If they're going to do remakes they should either be massive updates or rereleases with a few minor changes for the people who missed the originals. I'd rather have a set be a total skip than something I have to deliberate over and have some amount of regret either way. The best case scenario would either be very easy a wave made of incredibly boring and easy skips (Night Bus 2, Hogwarts express with Ford Anglia, ect.) or more anniversary sets. I don't think any of those ideas will make up the entire wave though. I've found the set numbers not increasing with the prices a strange sign since the set numbers were first leaked and it's only gotten more ominous with us being told how surprising it will be. Last year the Burrow and Hedwig didn't fit the numbering of the main wave and for August the $40 and $30 sets don't fit. I guess that means the $70 and $130 sets will be more conventional?
  22. The original glow in the dark snape minifigure is evidence of this. It's very similar to other early depictions of him. The Snape figure from Mattel's mini play sets in the early 2000s has a similar white/green/gray shade for his skin and is sculpted in a pose that's an exact match for some early art of the character.
  23. His second face is actually him sleeping. This print was originally created for the second task set.
  24. I seriously doubt buildable figures are something LEGO would even consider for HP. Not only was the concept not entirely successful for Star Wars (although I think that was down to having to produce new characters that most people had little interest in) but the concept had most of is success with helmeted characters which worked well for the style. SW could get away with a few odd looking fleshy figures to compliment the helmeted/robotic ones. Another issue is just looking at figures in general. Star Wars has had a consistently loved and consistently produced action figure line from hasbro since the 1990s, Harry Potter has had the opposite. Figure ranges only covered 2 films at most. The only one to branch out past two films (NECA) barely did and they were complete nightmares of quality control. The LEGO Harry Potter minifigures, even just the 2010-2011 line was undeniably the best collection of Harry Potter figures period from any company before the HP merch resurgence in the late 2010s. Now the best HP figure line is a bit more debatable between LEGO, funko, and those metal things but I still think LEGO may be the winner. They definitely have the best articulation and likenesses at least.
  25. The issue with another Hogwarts moment set the the theming of the book. The books are themed around the four houses, there aren't any houses left. The books themselves are the main feature advertised on the front of the box so it is an important part of the set. The only thing I could see is a Hogwarts crest themed book, likely containing yet another Great Hall (every other year of this theme has had 2+ sets with great hall related things if you include Yule Ball related things). Honestly through if LEGO wants to make repetitive Hogwarts walls with interesting interior builds I would prefer the Girls Bathroom format over the book format. They're a fun novelty but most of the time all I see is just a book spine which isn't that exciting, and the opened displays take up a large amount of space and can look a bit messy. I'll take a tan square with an open interior any day.
