  1. Yeah that definitely makes sense, I was only joking and completely understand it just surprised me. I’ve only got a tiny shelf for my Lego so there’s not enough space even just the Lego Harry Potter I’ve got lol. I’m gonna have to do some serious rearranging of other shelves. I’m also gonna set up a Lego Indiana Jones Display from when I was a kid so I’m probably gonna have to swap stuff out from time to time. I guess when you come out of your dark ages I forget how much space Lego takes up! At least I’ve never gotten into Star Wars collecting lol, that’d be a nightmare for me! Really sorry if my previous post came across the wrong way btw
  2. I can’t believe you guys are even contemplating skipping Hogwarts Express over the others, it’s like one of the most iconic things in Harry Potter! I understand if you can’t afford all of them (like I can’t but then I buy them anyway oops), but skip one of the others instead nah of course I’m kidding, it’s your choice. But it’s worth bearing in mind that the 2018 sets will likely retire soon, whereas you’ll probably have 2 years to collect the 2020 sets. It’s not like you have to buy all this stuff simultaneously!
  3. Agreed. It'd be like "here's the $400 Harry Potter set to end all Harry Potter sets. Oh, wait, it's not complete by the way, we'll be back with more next year." As much as it'd be cool to get expansions later on, I really think this is gonna be a one-time, take-it or leave-it, Diagon Alley. The only thing I could possibly see happening as a standalone set is the Ironbelly scene in Gringotts, and it really being a standalone set that happens to fit on the side.
  4. Ah yes, I hadn't thought to use Ole Kirk's Law here. It is all clear now. I can't wait to see Harry Potter fully realised in Lego Harry Potter form in the Lego Harry Potter theme of Lego Harry Potter sets. Sadly this debunks the Ron leak.
  5. Another "leak" from that account that keeps posting about the MoM set. They've also said "Sorry for to say but this is my prediction" which suggests they were makig it up all along, although I'm not sure why they'd say this. Furthermore it seems odd they'd mention the veil, but then also say there's Dumbledore and Voldemort, when they duel in a completely different part of the MoM, yet they make no mention of that part. I guess there's an off-chance they'd just pretend they duelled by the veil, but this woudn't exactly "look really cool" as they describe lol. So I really think they're talking rubbish lol Edit: wait I'm getting confused by different accounts now, that is the account that keeps listing info about sets then saying "this is a prediction" at the end. Never mind.
  6. I would be surprised if they had back walls personally. This would immensely increase the number of pieces (since they would likely need to be deeper as well, and yet would probably contain the same amount of stuff inside. I'd rather have more buildings with no backs (easier access and lets the light in) personally, although I can understand if you wanted to have buildings on either side of an alley that would be worse.
  7. Although remember inflation, so that set would probably cost $175ish now. And they would probably be more detailed nowadays (look at the interior of Borgin & Burkes in the 2011 set, there's like nothing there; the 2002 set is better for that and even has some cool artifacts), probably making it $200. So I wouldn't expect more than 6 total, as your "more details" situation is probably more likely for a D2C like this. But it certainly is an interesting factor that we haven't considered yet, that Diagon Alley has two sides. So far we've kinda assumed if they're connected that they'll all be in a line. Makes me wonder again if they'll include a little pavement. It would be really cool to have these customisation options like you describe. You're almost definitely right that they'll have open backs, I'd say. To be honest I'd prefer this way.
  8. That's true, I forget these are Lego measurements, which always like to say Pirates of Barracuda Bay is 59cm, sounding really impressive until you realise at least half of that is the masts lol. I guess I was fudging my data to fit my agenda by not including the turrets! I'm so excited too, although I'm absolutely gonna have to save up every last penny for this... It sounds much more reasonable now.
  9. Interesting that you thought the polar opposite of me in every regard. To me 23cm is quite large. I guess you can compare it to the 2011 Diagaon Alley buildings, which in my opinion were quite large - as I was saying, this is much taller than Hogwarts Great Hall without any turrets/towers, or just under 2/3 of the 38cm of the full height of that set including the towers. Considering that's a huge hall and these are some two-storey shops, that seems quite big enough to me! Also we are almost certainly getting interiors on all the shops in a D2C mega expensive fanservice Harry potter nerd set.
  10. Hmm. Not trying to find something to complain about, but 23cm seems almost a bit too tall. In the old DA, Ollivander's and Borgin & Burke's were 20cm tall, and Gringott's was 21cm tall. So these are gonna be quite large, and kinda oddly proportioned compared to say the Great Hall, which is around 14cm high from floor to ceiling (not counting turrets or the tower, and based on a conversion website and looking at the image on Lego's website of the blueprint). This also makes me wonder if we're not going to get as many buildings as we might've hoped for - although hopefully this means they can go all out on the interior details if there's so much space. Who is an important character who appears significantly in films 4 and 5 without appearing much in earlier films?
  11. Awesome to hear other peoples' ideas. I'm gonna post my dream (no way it will come true) wishlist, including sets that have been rumoured/confirmed for this year (small ~ £20, medium-small ~ £35, medium ~ £50, medium-large ~ £65, large ~ £80, D2C ~ expensive): General: More Hogwarts sets - could include some of the smaller sets below too Philosopher's Stone: *1. Diagon Alley & Knockturn Alley; D2C (could also incorporate other films) 2.Gryffindor Common Room (properly); medium *2. Troll in the bathroom; medium-small 3. The restricted section; medium-small 4. The Forbidden Forest; small *5. The Forbidden Corridor; large Chamber of Secrets: *1. Privet Drive; medium-large (could also incorporate other films) *2. Herbology greenhouses; medium-small 3. Slytherin Common Room; medium 4. Moaning Myrtle's bathrrom; small *5. The Chamber of Secrets; large Prisoner of Azkaban: *1. The Shrieking Shack; medium-large *2. Hogsmeade; D2C (could also incorporate other films) 3. Sirius' escape; small Goblet of Fire: 1. The Quidditch Cup camp; small *2. The Second Task; medium-small *3. The Final Task; medium-small Order of the Phoenix: 1. Grimmauld Place; large *2. Room of Requirement; small *3. Grawp in the forest; medium-small *4. The Ministry of Magic; medium Half-Blood Prince: *1. The Burrow; medium-large (could also incorporate other films) *2. Horcrux on the island; medium-small Deathly Hallows part 1: 1. The Seven Harrys; medium-small *2. Godric's Hollow + graveyard; medium-large *3. Camp + lake + sword; small *4. Lovegood's House; medium-large 5. Malfoy Manor; medium-small Deathly Hallow part 2: *1. Dragon at Gringotts bank; medium-small 2. Burning the bridge; medium-small 3. Fiendfyre in RoR; medium-small *4. Battle of Hogwarts; medium-large There's my completely unrealistic wishlist, probably missing a load of stuff as I mostly based it off the Lego games level list! I've asterisked the ones I would really love, although even that's a bit unrealistic unless this is a super-long lasting theme.
  12. This idea would be perfect for Malfoy Manor and work really well. Since we don't see much of Malfoy Manor and there's not much to see it could be a relatively cheap set too, still doing an iconic scene. Eh, if it's allowed, it's fun to speculate or just wishlist what they could make cool sets of. More fun than talking about vague hints that provide more questions than answers really
  13. Thanks so much, found it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIPMS3UMP2Y If anyone's interested it's this video. Also spotted it in the first video I posted too.
  14. This would be an awesome minifig selection and is also quite reasonable. Maybe some unidentified witches/wizards for the other shops if we get other shops would be nice additions. Although I expect if I hunted on the Harry Potter wiki they have names. Some random Hogwarts students to just go in shops or look through windows ("Look the new Nimbus 2000!" Was that Dean Thomas?) would be nice extras too. Yeah that's what I was thinking, I feel people are overcomplicating it / expecting more than is sensible from it, and then disappointing themselves. Oh I'll take a look! Edit: any idea where I might find info/pics on it (without buying the book lol). Edit 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UCHW7msedo is a good video but I can't seem to find it in there? Or is that the wrong book?
  15. It was on the table? were there unreleased 2010/11 sets?
  16. Well as I said a page back, if they included the goblet scene from Bellatrix's vault, then they're gonna need a lot of goblets...
  17. Okay yeah I see what you're saying. In my head I had the GBP numbers which are obviously lower than USD, yet still trying to make it up to 400. Based on the $400 Hogwarts Castle, I'm hoping this will be around £350. I've always agreed 5 buildings seems most likely, 4 is a definite (and would be a bit disappointing) but I think 5 is definitely reasonable). 6 would be amazing. Of course it seems a bit meaningless arguing over how many there are when we don't even know how detailed they are gonna be. For all we know it could be just a mega detailed gigantic Gringotts lol
  18. I agree it's fake but why does the minifigure selection imply that? Also that person who keeps posting Ariana Grande videos under #legoleaks is really annoying
  19. That would be cool! I can't imagine the outrage from many Lego fans at Lego for trying something different though (*cough* Lego Mario *cough*).
  20. As Guyon said (and you said at the end!) Lego doesn’t care about scale, and rightly so. They also aren’t bothered by screen accuracy or location. I think you need to remember this is an official set, not a MOC. Look at the existing Hogwarts Sets - the Gryffindor Dorm is two beds in a tiny space in a random place. Then apply this to say your Leaky Cauldron with two floors (although granted this is a $400 D2C so is likely to be more detailed and accurate and complex) - the second floor need not be anything more than a bedroom and maybe a little hallway. It could easily be how day the Winter Village did inteiors and second floors pre 2018 - the upstairs parts were always a tiny protrusion, or even just a tiny space that they could fit in the roof. Or even compare to the newer Winter Village sets which have More full upstairs - these are $100 with all the outside accessories which DA needs less of. Furthermore, the 2011 DA had an impressive price to part ratio - but this is an even more expensive set and so is likely to have an even better price per part. I do agree they’re unlikely to just have facades of some shops, and that each shop will likely have more pieces compared to a 2011 equivalent simply due to the extra detail Lego put in nowadays.
  21. I’m not sure why that has any indication it’s micro scale but okay...
  22. This is exactly what I thought. Just have the underground section of Gringotts attach to the side of it. As I said to someone before though, I think you’re overestimating the number of pieces it would require. They could literally have a ~150 piece dragon like the Hungarian Horntail, a couple of small open top/side vaults, a small section of track and the cart. They could even just have a path between them and no track/cart. They certainly could make it thousands of pieces, but there’s no reason they have to. Like you say It almost certainly won’t be elevated, that would just be odd. Yeah I’m super happy they’re likely gonna be connected. I hope that the next step of this is having a small section of street, just six or so studs wide. I agree that there will likely be more than 4 buildings, Especially as the shops can be relatively small. In fact I’d argue the 2011 DA shops were too large compared to say Hogwarts Great Hall. And after all this set costs over double (with inflation, so I guess nowadays it would be roughly double) the 2011 sets. Although having said that Lego’s come on a long way since then with their detail, especially on interiors, so part counts have gone up in general, so I’d imagine today’s equivalent of the 2011 set would have more pieces and so cost a bit more. I think 5 shops is reasonable to expect and any more would be fantastic. But I don’t think they’d make any shops storefront only unless they really go all out and include obscure shops. If a shop has an interior in the film, it will almost certainly have one in here. Lego love inside details and they know fans do too. I just don’t see it happening, and I’d much rather have fewer super detailed shops than loads of brick walls with shop names on them. edit: now re read your post and you did say important shops would have interiors. But like I say I’d still rather interiors on all the shops - that way the “mini figure collectors that will love this” can set up scenes from the films / play with the people inside - after all that is what Lego is for!
  23. Do we think there’ll be a GWP Harry Potter this time? I don’t usually buy from the Lego store unless it’s an exclusive, especially as I’ll probably finish buying 2018/19’s HP sets first, but if there’s a good promo I might have to!
  24. inb4 of the $400 cost of the set, $100 of that is 1000 goblets to simulate the multiplying of them
