Harry Potter 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

To be fair, Lego tends to "remake" a lot of the classic HP sets. The 2021 wave had some classic PS and CoS sets recreated, so I wouldn't be surprised if we saw for example the Shrieking Shack and the 2nd Task next year. This year was after all disappointing due to the soft reboot which shouldn't hinder the chances of getting classic PoA and GoF sets. Of course we'll probably get some stinkers as well... Trying to be optimistic while desperately holding out for Gringott's in the far future. -

:D Cheers! The scale looks quite decent. I guess I forgot how large the DA is, haven’t seen mine in two months. -

I’m having a hard time visualizing it because the Ironbelly would have to be rather large to have (at least to me) necessary detailing and stature next to minifigures, therefore; it would look a bit too large on top of a Diagon Alley-scaled Gringott’s. However, it could probably work, I just can’t visualize it :D -

I reckon it is a sad possibility if they choose to take their sweet time. One thing that also has to be taken into account is the possible inclusion of the Ironbelly on top of the building. A D2C Gringott’s with the Ironbelly would be a stunning display piece, however, it would not necessarily work on Diagon Alley’s scale. -

Surely not… I’m not sure if I can wait for another two years (assuming there isn’t a surprise Gringott’s next year). I will probably just build Micmac’s Gringott’s extension since it is charming and stylistically coherent with Diagon Alley. -

Now that Lego has returned to PS and CoS to fill in some gaps, most notably from the final acts of the films, it would be logical (therefore; not likely) to get a Shrieking Shack set next year. This year’s Hogsmeade set and the original Shrieking Shack’s classic status will further boost the chances. However, Gringott’s seemed like a no-brainer for the same reasons… -

Marge would certainly be a fun inclusion. I could see them sneak her inflated version into a Knight Bus or Leaky Cauldron set as well. -

For the lack of anything useful to do, I thought I’d share my speculations over a possible cmf 3. It would be interesting to see, now that the number of minifigures is reduced to 12, if Lego is willing to sacrifice the spots of Luna, Neville, who appeared in both of the previous series, to new characters. My speculative and rather hopeful list would include either wedding or MoM DH-variants of the trio. The wedding-variants having more potential accessory-wise. Luna’s spot could be given to her father, who would be a colourful choice. I think Kreacher would be quite likely based on the inclusions of Dobby and Griphook in addition to the need for a new mold. Then I’d see either Lee Jordan or Zabini getting a spot as a Hogwarts student providing needed ethnic diversity to the roster, Lee being probably the more likely inclusion. Both Lucius and Narcissa Maldoy could make an appearance as did Harry’s parents in the last series. Lucius could get his cane and death eater robes, while Narcissa could get a new hair piece. The Hogwarts employee would have to be Pomfrey, as she remains the most notable omission from the staff. She would also need a new mold for the head garment. Rita Skeeter would also be a logical inclusion because she is a colourful character who would not necessarily fit into any set. The last two spots are rather difficult to choose due to an abundance of options. Werewolf Lupin would be ideal, however, I reckon we will be getting a Shrieking Shack set (iconic location/scene + they made Hogsmead etc…) and as cat-Hermione proved, we can get new scene-specific molds for characters. Karkaroff will also probably appear eventually in a Durmstrang ship set. Therefore, I would opt for OotP Tonks and Sirius. Then we would have every (at least most) character from the MoM battle from OotP without a set. MoM atrium could come as a DH set instead with Yaxley who would be maybe a bit too obscure for the cmf. Sirius could have a new dog mold and Tonks some fun hair colours. As a summary: 1. Harry (DH wedding, snitch&resurrection stone) 2. Hermione (DH wedding, tales of beedle the bard) 3. Ron (DH wedding, deluminator) 4. Sirius (OotP, Padfoot-new mold) 5. Tonks (OotP, various hairdos) 6. Lee Jordan (the microphone thingy) 7. Pomfrey (Skelegrow bottle-new mold) 8. Xenophilius Lovegood (tea-pot or a deathly hallows tile or something…?) 9. Lucius Malfoy (OotP death eater robes, snake cane-new mold) 10. Narcissa Malfoy (new hair mold, not sure about the accessory) 11. Kreacher (the locket+new head mold) 12. Rita Skeeter (her quill + a beetle perhaps) There, sorry for the long post. It has been a bit quiet here recently so I thought you wouldn’t mind too much. :D edit: Now that I think about it, we probably wouldn’t get a cmf without all Ginny, Luna, and Neville. However, I sure hope we would. -

Haven’t purchased any of them yet (and maybe won’t, depending on other sets I may prioritize) but I have a ranking of the sets. 1. New Asgard: A detailed vignette of an unlikely yet wonderful scene with good and probably exlusive figures. Edges out the Benatar in my books due to the cheaper price; I’m more likely to purchase this one. We rarely get such detailing in a cheap set. (Also, I just love vignettes) 2. Benatar: Imo the best display piece. A wonderful model of the ship with some decent figures. Love the new hair piece for Starlord. Could’ve included more figures though. 3. Infinity Gauntlet: A wonderful display piece. Ranks higher than the playsets purely because I prefer display pieces to playsets. The rest of the sets are quite lacklustre for me (due to display value). Endgame final battle has the best figures, whereas Iron Monger is the best build (even though the scale is dreadful). -

Agreed. I decided to stick with Lucius's old face and hair with the DA torso+legs. I also gave him the graduate robe thingy, looks quite good. It would be nice to get the new Dumbledore hairpiece in tan though. -

Seems like these buildable figures really divide opinions. Personally, I hate them :D They are (rather expensive) display pieces, however, they don't display that well imo. The lines between the bricks on Harry's face look quite dreadful. Hermione doesn't suffer from that though. Not my cup of tea but nice to hear that there's an audience for these sets as well. To be more positive, I love the other sets. As someone who doesn't have 2018-2020 Hogwarts sets, CoS is tempting. I like the rock foundation, and personally, I think the sand green looks great on the roofs. However, I can understand the frustration some of you have. Hogsmeade looks charming. My only issue with it is the sign for the Three broomsticks. Why isn't it made of broomstick pieces...? Thankfully, it shouldn't be too difficult moc. -

Hi everyone! Decided to share my thoughts after a long hiatus. A real roller coaster of emotions regarding the D2C. I certainly hope that it's Gringotts because the Diagon Alley looks a bit unfinished on my desk :'D. Since this wave is focusing on the first two films (except for Hogsmeade, odd), I reckon Gringotts would based on Philosopher's stone. So no Ironbelly; therefore, more room for the buildings. Although I think a large Gringotts could warrant that price tag if it included some of the underground parts, I think the hypothetical set would have to have an additional building. And I reckon the most likely would be Leaky Cauldron since it's the most iconic "DA building" we haven't got yet. Yes, it's a pub, but Lego is also releasing Three Broomsticks in June, so... As for the chess set: Glad it's not the D2C (unless it ends up being Dobby's sock). It would be weird if the chess board isn't complete. As someone mentioned earlier, chess is very hip right now due to the success of Queen's Gambit. It would be a missed opportunity, if they only included a fraction of the board in favour of fitting other challenges in the same set. -

Not really sure if Lego would remake the Whomping Willow so soon, although the first one was a bit underwhelming imo. I can see them doing one Hogwarts add-on, either as one of the 120ish sets or cheaper. Personally, I think that the Durmstrang ship and the Shrieking Shack could be quite likely in the 120$ price range. And of course, there's the possibility of Gringott's being one of those sets; however, I think that it is more likely to be the 250$ with the dragon and possibly the Leaky Cauldron or a shop such as Madam Malkin's. And of course, this is all very speculative and Lego will probably throw some curveballs at us. -

The price list for the sets is certainly interesting. With the upcoming book-sets, it would be delightful for the 30$ set to be the Tales of Beedle the Bard with the Tale of the Three Brothers -scene from DH1 (minifigs: three brothers&Death). Although, making a minifigure of Death personified wouldn't probably be the first choice for Lego :D I'm personally terrified of the 250$ set; if it is Gringott's (and a shop/LC) I will definitely get it since the Diagon Alley needs its crown jewel; if it's Hogsmeade...well it's perhaps my favourite location in the Wizarding world and it will probably look gorgeous...therefore, I will get it for sure...and that means Gringott's is then 130 or 120$ and I'll get it too... And I thought that my Lego-spending peaked with the Diagon Alley :D Also, the new McGonagall looks absolutely fantastic. The quality is comparable to CMF, which is definitely surprising, considering the minifigure quality in sets this year. I really hope that we will get a new Bellatrix of the same quality in the summer wave, perhaps in the inevitable Gringott's set. -

Don't really see Lego repeating the Aqualish or Garindan mold any time soon. Unless either an Aqualish or a Garindin-species-character becomes a major character in Mandalorian of one of the upcoming projects. In a way, it would be nice is they stayed exclusive but I might end up bricklinking them if I don't buy the cantina....oh the prices...:D -

Price per piece is definitely a flawed metric. We should be looking at the volume of stuff we are getting. If we compare Diagon Alley and Mos Eisley Cantina (which we probably shouldn't do..), Diagon Alley definitely is the larger and more flamboyant model. But the gap between the two gets certainly smaller if we look at the minifigures. Minifigures influence the price of a set notably, and in the Cantina, we get 21, four more than Diagon Alley (if the mannequins are counted). Three of which, have new molds. In addition, the Cantina brings back the huge Dewback mold. The addition of the speeder also adds to the volume of stuff, therefore; I would say that the price difference is reasonable. Needless to say, the prices are still ridiculously high, but that's Lego for you. -

I just built a Mos Eisley Cantina MOC last year and wouldn't want to spend 350€ on this one... How much do you reckon the prices for characters like Evazan, Baba, Garindan and the Devaronian will be? I'm kinda nervous that it'll be something like 20€/figure, in which case it would be more or less stupid not to buy the whole thing :D -

Grimmauld place would work well as a Privet Dr. -type of set. The front facade would be a tricky one to execute if there's a play feature, but it could work as a static display with Grimmauld place itself having only a narrow slice to its facade in the middle of the build (sandwiched between two a bit wider facades). The interior would of course be fully Grimmauld's. It could have the dining table downstairs and the family tree + portrait of Mrs. Black upstairs. The piece count could be about the same as Privet Dr. as the facade would need the parts used for Ford Anglia. -

The set looks incredible! I will probably purchase it during autumn. As I will display it on a table backed against a wall, I will probably take the delightful book piles from F&B and stack them on the street in front of the shop. Minifigure-wise Lockhart is the best imo, his expressions and outfit are splendid! The photographer's angry expression is tailor-made for Karkaroff, which is an odd but pleasant surprise if we won't get a new Karkaroff in the future. My only critiques are the overall minifigure quality (Lucius, Molly, Ginny, reused torso for the trio) and the redundancy of QQS's attic. -

Speaking of Hogsmeade, I just yesterday joined Martin Ot's (a Lego moccer, does mainly HP&LOTR) patreon. He has a gorgeous model of Hogsmeade which has three separate builds: Three Broomsticks, Honeydukes and a third one, which includes Dominic Maestro's and Ceridwen's Cauldrons. The design captures charmingly the wintery aesthetic of Hogsmeade and his style is similar to Lego's, maximal usage of space and purposeful detailing without using thousands of pieces. After DA's release, I'm planning on bricklinking the parts and building his Hogsmeade, as it looks just like what Lego's D2C Hogsmeade would. On a side note, it's terribly expensive to bricklink all those parts and I'd be really salty if Lego released a Hogsmeade D2C in the years to come :D
