  1. Bro, why!? I really thought you were someone new. @Mandalorianknight I am honored to have been invited to the Soupfire Gala, really nice MOC. My favorite part is the disco ball, specifically, the Batman holding it. All the side builds are great, special mention goes to the Dummy shrine. I am curious about the grey statues, though. Who are they/what do they represent?
  2. Truly the cruelest April Fool's joke. *deep long-suffering sigh* Ah sith, here we go again. Absolutely GOATed image. Dare I say, the best Spider-Man panel(s) of all time. Y'know, maybe imposter isn't our old shelled friend. We can't jump on every newcomer to the Aslume that's vaguely located near Finland.
  3. My bad. It flew over my head. Now, see...this is peak Star Wars. But if we get Candy Cane TIE, we need the full release of the employee X-Wing. I personally think gingerbread would be nice though. It seems to fit the vibe of a TIE Fighter better than the Candy Cane color scheme.
  4. 1. Yeah no. Trek is way better and a lot more nuanced when it comes to its socio-political themes. DS9 is one of the best written shows I've ever watched, complex themes and even more complex characters. Star Wars is utterly simple by comparison. Good vs Evil at it's purest. Which I love, btw, both franchises have their merits and their faults, but Trek is way better at handling emotionally mature subjects. That's the benefit of having several multiple-season TV shows and 10 movies of content as the base, as opposed to only six films. Everything Disney/Post-2009 Wars/Trek is more evenly footed. (Let's not even get started on the beloved shows like Stargate, Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5, etc) 2. That was (mostly) a joke. Bad Batch should've focused more on its central themes and plot than on numerous side quests and "monsters of the week", and while the Siege was a beautiful set piece, the episodes themselves are pretty standard TCW fare. That alongside an already mediocre season, it's just meh. Besides, anyone can fanatically love what Disney puts out and call it great, and many will agree with them. I personally grow tired of those kinds of people. In all seriousness, just because something is popular or lots of people like it, doesn't make it good. A lot of what's defended by the NuWars fans is okay at best. Maybe as their own projects (i.e. not Star Wars related) I'd appreciate them more. My biggest issue will always be the attempts at overshadowing the base films. Preach, brother. I forgot about Slave I, and I own that set! I think that AT-RTs are stubbornly oversized because they're easy to include in $40 "battle packs" . They've also super-sized the BARCs, the sizing from 2007 to 2011 was pretty much perfect. Only more recent speeder bikes have been too beefy.
  5. The X-Wing and even the TIE Fighter were fine, imo. I don't know how to feel about the ARC-170 (haven't bought it yet), but the only sets I think the downsizing would benefit are a Snowspeeder and an A-Wing. They're the two consistently oversized vehicles in the line, so a downscale would make them better, not worse. I don't know of any other particularly noticeable downsizes. Maybe the Ghost counts, but a ship of that size is always inconsistently sized for system sets.
  6. As a newly converted Trekkie, this tracks.
  7. You can cherrypick the sentiment, but you haven't denied the major flaw. Most people think Star Wars = Mando, Ahsoka, Andor, and whatever else Disney decides to spit out. Not the original story, and not the original characters (save Vader). Yes. Cash cow or no, fatigue is starting to set in. Just because people watch it, doesn't make it good which, in my opinion, that's what defines a franchise as alive or dead. Not the amount of money it makes. That's not how some will see it, but that's how I view it. The older I get, the more I fall out of love with TCW. There are some aspects which will forever be cool, but it really overshadows a lot of greater EU material, which, while that's mostly the fault of us, the audience, I can't forgive it for that. That and Filoni has overstayed his welcome to me. The favoritism he's shown his OCs and the way he's essentially made his Star Wars our Star Wars has gotten old. I mean, essentially doing Heir to the Empire with none of that Trilogy's characters was the final straw for me. (Aside from the obvious Thrawn, please no semantics). The real answer to your question is: Not everybody loved/loves TCW, and Filoni has been criticized by many fans for years at this point. Even some die-hard Filoni Stans are starting to take issue with him.
  8. Exactly. Star Wars has been practically dead for a while now. There's no sense in continuing to beat it. See, a lot of newer fans see the above as peak Star Wars, when it isn't. Peak Star Wars is the OT. I love the Prequels, too, but recognize they have a lesser standing. Star Wars is Anakin and Luke's story. Once you stray away from that, it can still be decent, but it shouldn't dictate what people think the franchise is. Nowadays when people think "Star Wars", they think "Mando/Ahsoka/Bad Batch/Andor" not "Luke Skywalker" and that is a problem. Also, Bad Batch was 9/10s trash and Siege of Mandalore is overrated. Fight me. And there is only one Thrawn Trilogy. You can pick either the original (Heir to the Empire) or the Ascendancy books, but you can't have both (At least, from a canon perspective).
  9. The franchise needs to die. Or at least, scale way back to the basics. Too much content, not enough passion. A lot of writers today either don't put enough passion into their work, or the wrong type of passion (Filoni trying to make Star Wars his own). I've grown tired and weary hearing about Mando, Grogu, Ahsoka, Sabine, and not enough about Luke, Han, Leia. And the sequels are partially to blame for that. I'm not saying we need a movie with the big three, but their presence is far more needed in the franchise than Cassian Andor... especially if we're gonna be stuck in the Post-ROTJ Era. I also don't think KOTOR needs a movie series/Disney+ show (they wouldn't handle it well), the franchise as a whole needs to take a break. Let Lego catch up on some missing set ideas.
  10. This. Some of the best Star Wars content took risks with the established formula and mythos. I hate to be that guy, but reading the Dark Horse comics, they are great because of the original characters, self-contained stories, and very minor intercepts to the main storyline. Star Wars is a big universe, not everyone has to know everyone else.
  11. It's like we're all a bunch of...clones. (Since I'm clearly missing something, is there a tl;dr on this cheese man lore?)
  12. "Whether this lantern burns or not, Hal Jordan, Hope will always remain." _ Chancellor Ganthetine At first I thought you meant Rebel Fleet Trooper and I was like, "WHAT? "
  13. I don't get the...displeasure over the TCW cadets. Three of the same figure is three of the same figure. I do understand liking the red shirts over the kid cadets, but dismissing the latter just because they all look like Boba...I mean, isn't that the point? (This isn't really directed at anyone in particular, just a common sentiment I'm seeing) There isn't really a lot to Kamino besides the barracks and mess hall (as far the reds go), and the only training facilities we see are the flash training classroom (with the 5-year-old cadets, blue shirts), and the Citadel exercise (with Domino Squad). All of which would be nice, but I can't see any of them looking good at that size. Mess hall would be the floor and a table (two at best), barracks would be sweets but again more comparable to the Droid Carrier in size, the classroom would not come with the rumored figures, and the Citadel is a $50 set at worst. The Droid Carrier does admittedly open the door for larger GWPs, but I'd like to think it'll be a rather rare exception.
  14. I for one would love a Republic escape pod. It's more useful to me, albeit I'd take Sinker and Boost over some cadets, but the cadet uniforms are something we sorely need, so I wouldn't care. Add to the potential for younger faces in the medium flesh (?) tone is quite welcome also. A training facility is somewhat difficult to properly achieve in a GWP size, unless they go for the $40-set equivalent. The only training room we've seen in canon is the Citadel Test afaik, and that would require the soft-shell uniforms, which, while nice, I think most of us hear "Training Fatigues" and think of the red shirts, which are also more preferable for dioramas. The only time we see the red shirts are in the mess hall (AOTC), and the barracks (TCW), neither of which screams "training environment." tl;dr: Escape Pod is my first choice, an excellent build with figures of decent potential (after all, all clones look the same ), while the training facility is too vague/inaccurate of a description to really justify any reaction.
  15. If we were to get Gold CSMen, they would represent CS Command (AKA The Admiralty) as a whole, rather than one distinct individual. If we were to get the proposed colors @Mandalorianknight suggested (Dark Red, Tan, and PDG), this would be my revised division structure: Gold - CS Command/The Admiralty/"The Brass" Dark Red - Command Officers - Captains & Commanders Red - Security Yellow - Navigation/Piloting Tan - Ops Blue - Science White - Medical Black - Intelligence Navy - Diplomatic Corps Teal - Ambassador Protection (They accompany Navy) Purple - Linguistics & Communications Orange - Long Range Reconnaissance Green - Tech Specialist Grey - Engineering Pink - Home Economics Brown - Culinary Officer Pearl Dark Grey - Mining
  16. At first I hated it. Looking at it again, I can see the vision. Maybe it'll look better once the official pics come out. But you know, there is no other CIS Droid vehicle that could have possibly been included here. One that fans have been begging for for years now. Granted, the DSD makes more sense for a 327th pack. I agree with all of these except the RO figures. Sure, they could be included, but I really don't see it. A couple of Grey Shirt crewman, and some Black Shirt pilots, instead of the 2 DTs and 2 extra Stormies. In place of Galen and Krennic TIE Fighter pilots? I know these are the boring choices, but I'd rather not have RO characters locked to a $1k pricetag.
  17. LEMON-RT and half-hearted rock thing? On top of a $40 price tag...When I said I'd buy an exorbitant amount of 327th Battle Packs, the underlying assumption was that they'd be good battle packs. And no more than like, $20. But the AT-RT build (oversize notwithstanding) would look a lot better if the yellow was at least toned way down. Plo Koon looks a little weird, but I love him nonetheless. Also, getting tired of the R4-F5 erasure. Don't care about anything else, really. We'll see how the UT-AT turns out.
  18. Say it louder for the people at corporate. Awesome ideas, I've wanted some of these for years (especially the Camo ARFs). And while I wouldn't mind some OG 91st, the Anaxes troopers were clean! One of the best designs in TCW.
  19. Thanks. *The original story idea was that the 212th were sent to pacify Mandalore during the transition period at the start of the Empire. Bo-Katan was deemed too difficult to work with and was thusly replaced by Gar Saxon. This didn't sit well with Cody, so he defected, living his days out in exile amongst the Mandalorian people. One thing led to another and voila. This idea was way before TBB and Mando, and tbh, I liked the fact that it sort of mirrored Obi-Wan and Satine. Yes, it's a crackship, one of the finest I've ever created. No, I do not care.*
  20. Thanks! I'm glad you like them. Bet. This one's complicated, because they're split between Legends and a completely new Alternate continuity, so bear with me: Legends Robert I'sha - Human Jedi Master from the planet of Beech, I'sha leads the forces of the 27th Expeditionary Corps during the Clone Wars. Chiseller Iminos - Human Jedi Master from Naboo, she leads the 75th Ranger Battalion (a division of the 27th Corps), and is close friends with I'sha. Eneg Brak - Kel Dor Jedi Master and I'sha's former teacher. During the Clone Wars, he's taken on a new apprentice, Alaxi Troi, whom he trains using the harshest teacher there is: experience. Moira Ishtari - CIS scientist in charge of a experimental weapons unit. She specializes in bio-weaponry and cybernetics, which included upgrading several individual battle droids of various classes with cortosis alloys, to serve as her personal protection. A high priority target of Republic Intelligence. Mudhorn Company (I actually wrote a series pitch for them) Brian Lewis - A grizzled heavy gunner and a lieutenant in the Rebel Alliance’s Special Forces. Takes on any challenge with a grin, knowing that he and his team can escape any situation. Married to Carlita Lewis. Stevin Ragao - Longtime friend of Brian Lewis and his wife, Carlita, Ragao is the close-quarters combat and urban warfare specialist of the squad. Experienced in squad-based combat tactics, he is the mentor of a special group of commandos within the company (Kusky, Lipao, Prowl, Denosco, Rilde). Carlita Lewis - A marksman for the Rebellion, Carlita (Lita for short) is one of the best shots in Mudhorn Company. An expert in reconnaissance, she gathers intel not just for Mudhorn Company’s engagements, but at times for the Alliance as a whole. An invaluable member of the team, and third-in-command of the core Pathfinders. Christopher Kusky - A streetwise jock, a daring getaway driver, and a rebel without a cause. These are the words to describe Chris Kusky. His careless attitude and unfading smirk in the face of danger will get him killed if left unchecked. Lieutenant Ragao sees a great Pathfinder in him, but will the cocky private live to fulfill his potential? Chianne Lipao - Orphaned at a young age, and having undergone a childhood trauma which left her speechless, Chianne is like a daughter to Ragao. Actions speak louder than words, and the often-violent life of a Pathfinder requires unrelenting tenacity in the face of danger. An expert saboteur and demolitionist, her bite is worse than her bark. Scott Prowl - The son of a Naboo Royal Pilot, Scott Prowl has been groomed for the duties of a soldier at a young age. Nothing but a pointman and footsoldier, Prowl is the tip of the Rebellion’s spear, charging headlong into the fire of battlefronts across the galaxy. Rinwell Denosco - The technical genius, combat engineer, and communications expert of the unit, Rinwell Denosco can rig explosives with Lipao, run reconnaissance probes with Carlita, and he’s handy with a DH-17. Often overlooked but never to be underestimated, Denosco is yet another irreplaceable member of Mudhorn Company’s Pathfinders. Rina Rilde - An Imperial scout trooper abandoned and left for dead by her comrades, Specialist Rina Rilde will find new purpose with her Rebel family. A remarkable sniper and explosives expert, Rina often provides overwatch on field missions and backs up Carlita Lewis. Alternate Continuity In a world where I wrote the Star Wars Sequels, Luke's daughter would be the main character. Before you burn me at the stake, she's Ben's twin sister, and the two of them would share the trilogy together. I actually change some things about Ben from what little I do know of the character: Ben Skywalker - Not an OC, but his AU characterization would put him along the lines of TCW Anakin or early-Legends Luke, bold and confident, at times even cocky. One of the best students in the academy at current, though he isn't without equals. In spite of his antics, Ben is an honest hearted and down-to-Earth kid with a bright future in front of him. Laura Skywalker - A rather quiet and studious young woman, who'd much rather prefer to spend her time in the temple library than out battling...we'll get to that shortly. She'd be closely mentored by Luke in this trilogy, as by this time, he's become wiser and more mature, more like Obi-Wan than the man we last saw in Return of the Jedi. Part of Laura's arc involves stepping outside of her comfort zone and recognizing when a Jedi's path must lead them to action. As for the villains, they're a new faction called The Revenant, led by: Alastair Celeste AKA The Ghost - A Force sensitive who appears to have rather intimate knowledge of galactic secrets, The Ghost's primary mission is to make both the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant pay for the sins of their past. And not for obvious things like the destruction of Alderaan, but for the truth behind what happened to the Bothans who died for the DSII plans, the Jedi's role in driving the Geonosians to extinction (awesome flamethrowers be damned), etc. Of course, in actuality, all of these "secrets" are clever half-truths and misdirects that are simply meant to sow the seeds of chaos amongst a fragile alliance. He also enthralls Ben to his side (not a true turn, but rather powerful manipulation), in an attempt to throw Luke and his family off balance, seeing as they're the only real threat to his plans. Which, BTW, Mara Jade would be in this from start to finish. True action mom material if you ask me. And lastly... (No Spoiler tags so between the arrows is white text for those interested) > Calia-Katan Fett (Kryze?) - The daughter of Bo-Katan and Clone Commander Cody (it's a long story, written before either Bad Batch Season 2 or Mando Season 2). She's also super dead, sadly. Killed by Moff Gideon, using the Darksaber no less. If anyone would like to read her rather short life story, PM me and I'll send you the fanfic. As to "why Fett?" I always figured that clones would take Jango's clan name if given the choice (Cut Lequane notwithstanding, though, as a deserter, probably wouldn't want to be associated with Jango anyway, for safety reasons) but I do realize Kryze makes more sense. <
  21. Definitely well thought out. Do you have any pictures? @CloneCommando99 and @Mandalorianknight here are a few of mine I suppose: ThunderRacer - I suppose this counts as a sigfig, it's basically who kid-me wanted to be if I was a superhero. Real name omitted for privacy, he has the abilities of super speed and weather manipulation. A tad OP, but the villains of my verses tend to be vastly overpowered as well. He is limited to Earth-based natural phenomenon, however. Fastball - AKA Kenton Antonio Drake II, a Philadelphia native who took inspiration for his costume from the Phillies. Flight, enhanced strength and durability are his abilities. Best friends with ThunderRacer and... Statica - AKA Teresa Mae Williams. Has the ability to generate static electricity from her fingertips. Sonic Eagle - AKA Aleah Coulson. Private investigator by day, eagle-eyed vigilante by night. Has enhanced eyesight, heightened senses, flight, and a sonic scream. Cosmic Sentinel - Real Name Classified. An astronaut who is the first agent assigned to Project: First Contact. Stationed on the top secret Lunar Launchpad, he is equipped with a state-of-the-art exospheric apparatus, which includes a recycled oxygen system, jet-boots, and is charged by solar energy. He is also equipped with a ray gun. Villains include: Doctor Meteor - Doctor Kirk Cantori. A former meteorologist with the ability to manipulate the weather, which includes replicating the storms found on other planets. Chronal - Time Traveling expert who is from another reality. Though his plans usually create problems for our heroes, he has been known to aid them at times by manipulating events in their favor. Living Flame - Roderick Jones. A bookie who had a rather unfortunate run-in with the local mob, who set him ablaze. Fortunately (or unfortunately?) the fire never went out, and Jones became the inextinguishable Living Flame. Power Outage - Kathleen Bolton. Marathon runner who gained the abilities of enhanced speed and electrokinesis. Soundwarp - A disgraced disc jockey, Brian Fischer controls sonic waves by means of a special helmet. These waves can amplified by several circular emitters attached to his costume. The Ring - A corporate saboteur, Christopher Bellemonte has a special tech ring that creates forcefields and fires energy blasts. (No constructs sadly) Carlton Windfyre - A powerful businessman in charge of the city's organized crime, Windfyre hides his face behind a foil mask and singular glass eye (Sakaaran head from 2014). Doesn't promote his powers, but is secretly pyrokinetic. Let me know if you guys want the rundown on my fan-characters (Star Wars, DC, etc)
  22. I don't really have a SigFig, I made one like 15 years ago and abandoned the concept. I'm usually more of a background character in my stories, but I did have a Rogues Gallery of minifigs when I was younger. Mostly Star Wars figures, but here we go Secret Soldier (AT-ST Driver) Masked Gungan (Gungan Warrior) The Mandalorian (Death Watch Soldier - this was in like 2012) The Crook (a Lego City criminal, AKA Gold Tooth) I do have minifigures made based on story concepts of mine, would those count? As in, the story itself isn't a Lego thing, but I've made Lego of the characters, if that makes sense.
  23. I really want a new A-Wing... It's one of the few ships that would actually benefit from LEGO's recent downsizing, and I hope a new one would finally get the nose split right (only 2013 has ever come close). As for minifigures, getting yet another Green Leader would be meh, maybe a deep cut like Sila Kott, or even L'ulo. Other than that, Rebel Commando, and a new Crix Madine would be fire.
