  1. LEGO should add more Technic minifig's in it's sets IMO. Why don't they? Had a quick look on Brickset starting from 2011 going back a few years and can't find the last set that was released that included one. My son is always trying to put Technic minifig's in the sets I build, and either there's just no place for them as per design, or when a seat is in, he doesn't fit.
  2. Short tubing qa is or longer tubing, its still cute. Looks really nice, and as with my youngest daughter, seems you still need to teach it to not spill it's 'food'
  3. I was thinking exactly this while going through all the different functions: 'This sure is fast' I just finished creating a very simple version of your can I build in Excel, only took me few hours to input the set data from BrickLink and creae the tables, but still, had I known your site existed I wouldn't have put in the effort. Keep up the excellent work, if there's anyhing I can do to assist you on this do let me know.
  4. I just finished creating an Excel sheet to keep track of my, atm, small Technic collection that does the following: - sheet 1: lists what sets I have, piece count as per BrickLink, year of release - sheet 2: all the individual parts per set, so "set number-part number-set quantity" - sheet 3: consolidates the data from sheet 2 from all sets, gives me a total "part number-quantity" - sheet 4: put in some stuff so that I can take a parts inventory from BrickLink for a particular set and it will tell me how many pieces I still need to build that particular set As I only have 22 sets at the moment and no Technic BL orders, it didn't take me long to create it. Individual parts that I get from BL will be added when they arrive. In the future if I want to add a set it will take me about a minute to copy, sort and add the new parts inventory to the sheet from BL. Does not help anyone that's been gathering for years of course, but for myself it works great.
  5. IMO, the manuals are a part of the experience, I would never get rid of them and go all digital. Sure, I've got my share of .pdf and .jpg instructions, but I would never think of getting rid of the paper version. Unless you have hundreds and hundreds of sets that you build regularly and thus need the instructions at hand all the time, I can't see the problem with storing them somewhere safe. If you throw them away, why not put them up for sale or just give them away for free, I'm sure there's always someone willing to take them.
  6. Thank you for the additional pictures, they've cleared things up for me. Much appreciated.
  7. Just read through the entire topic, very very nice what you've done with what to me looked like such a limited set at first (8271). I'll have to go out and get myself one now Does your imagination ever fail you? Seems like you come up with new models faster than we can keep reading.
  8. As I'm new here, thought I'd show our 2 animal friends. Dog's a Golden Retriever named Faye, the cat's name is Poes which is Dutch for cat. Faye and Poes
  9. You've got this set MISB and haven't opened it yet? It's next on my list to acquire, I sure will not be able to wait that long to crack it open. imajor, Looks really nice, do you have any details on how you connected the claw to the boom so that it actually works? Perhaps a picture from the top will show me what I need. Thx!
  10. From the report #1:  Studless beams are better in tension than studded  Studded beams are better in transverse than studless  Studless beams are stronger in transverse with the pins on the side -> Prior to this topic I was reading through the studded vs. studless discussion, perhaps these results can once and for all show that both have their use. From the report #2:  Lego is quite strong for its weight -> Indeed, given the constructions I've come across e.g. Liebherr cranes and such. Thx for sharing and now a minute of silence for the beams that were sacrificed...
  11. Do you have any pictures perhaps? I just got back from the dark years and don't have that many sets, but I just simply cannot grasp what it would like to be in your situation. I guess this would go a lot of us. No offence of course, just really really curious
  12. There's a 8421 set up for sale for €50 / $71 near to me. I already have one, but thinking about the large number of parts you get in this set, I'm thinking of picking it up. Good deal or still overpriced?
  13. Budget? Did I say budget? What's that? And I do want those CMF's don't I? Kids are still to young to play with Technic, but I am getting my son started with 'small LEGO' as he calls it. Duplo is then 'large LEGO'. Got all my firetrucks from my parent's house and he absolutely loves them. Especially the Light & Sound fire truck. Thanks all for the welcome, sure I'm going to spend some quality time here.
  14. Hello, another AFOL here, this time one from a small patch of land called Belgium. 31 Years old, 32 in 2 weeks and just getting back to my childhood's favourite pastime. Bought set 8421 - Mobile Crane a few years ago but since then haven't had much (if any) time due to 2 small children. However that's changing now and I just got set 8285, the 'smoked' variety, so I've got some washing to do. One problem I'm already facing is how to stick to a budget Main interest is Technic, but the CMF are trying really hard to get my attention.
