That’s a good shout but I can’t get excited about old flying boats. Unless they fit one with a gau8 avenger cannon and a couple of jets! I really like ugly purposeful design. The ‘hog is the pinnacle of that for me. (I believe there was a shorts Sunderland flying boat that had a tonne of cannon on it though, the flying porcupine) Im not tooooo bothered about pin holes etc, I just see it as part of the technic aesthetic, im more concerned with making something cool that works and I can hang off my ceiling! sharing ideas in public is what it’s all about imho. Otherwise what’s the point in a forum!

I’ve been staring at this for a while and scratching my head but I got stuck in again this week and made some progress. The wing is done. The ailerons are wired in and split into spoilers using small pneumatic rams and the flaps and slats all extend using pneumatics too. Once it’s all put together I’ll work the camo pattern back into it all. The nose shape is the last hurdle really. I’d like to do a bit more shaping around the back of the cockpit area but I’ll live with it as is for a bit while I get my head around the shapes.

Do you mean the headrest? That looks very useful. -

Immediately recognisable! I think this is one of the more successful system/technic mixes. Nice work. -

Could you put a planetary hub on the motor before the existing drive? That would slow it down a fair bit. -
Outer wings built using the new technique for more subtle angles. I need to do a bit of work to fill some more gaps but I’m happy so far. inboard is a lowering flap, outboard is an aileron that splits into an air brake using the tiny pneumatic ram. The elastic band closes the air rake and means I don’t have to have a return hose on the ram.

that’s the control surfaces all sketched into place. However, because I have changed how these work I am now able to build a cleaner and stronger wing root and main spar as it doesn’t have a differential in each wing any more. Not quite back to the drawing board with this but certainly back to a big pile of dark blueish grey prices on my desk while I rebuild the wing root.

I think you’ve really captured “Range Rover” in this model. It couldn’t be anything else. I really like it
