  1. Wonderful! That just made my day.... :-D We could definitely use a Duplo subforum, with Duplo MOC contests and discussions on Duplo SNOT techniques etc... My sister's three year old daughter has a bunch of Duplo and always insists on me building stuff with her... *wub* Once I was babysitting her at our place and gave her some of my System Lego to play with, and her face just lit up. Now she's constantly asking: "Uncle, when do I get to play with your small bricks again?". :'-)
  2. :-D You're not the only one asking for it: Let's see... The Death Star(s) being a "couple" hundred to 900 kilometers in diameter, and the Minifig scale being about 1:45, that would mean that the new Lego set would be... Five to twenty kilometers in diameter when built. Okay then. :-D :-D
  3. Ehh, sorry, some of those pics are mixed up... :-$ hold on, I'll fix it. Edit: fixed, & checked.
  4. Yeah, looks like they're gone. I thougt something like this might happen, so being a townie, I took screenshots of the parts for the two town sets. ;-) Here you go: 10184 Town Plan 10185 Green Grocer
  5. edit: misunderstood...
  6. Ok, time to revive this thread once again! I thought I'd share some pictures of my second town. My first town was built in the 80's, and is currently dismantled and stored on my grandma's attic. Due to lack of space, this is the first time I've put together all of my post-dark-ages sets. And since our living room is now completely taken over by the town, it'll soon be gone. Typically I only pick up a few sets from my storage either for my relative's kids to play with, or for my own little MOC projects. My girlfriend likes it when I display smaller layouts with a particular theme (construction, trains etc.) on top of our bookshelf, and a bigger town on the floor like this is a rare thing for me, anyway. But here it is: It's obvious I could use a little more buildings. So, here's hoping that the Creator line keeps delivering magnificent sets like the Model Town House! And yes, there's always Lego S@H PaB, BrickLink, Lego Designer, and whatnot, so of course I wouldn't have to rely on Creator, but there's the catch: I have consciously limited myself to normal sets, and the occasional PaB my local toy shops (seldom) provide. Two reasons: 1) To keep the money I spend on this within reasonable limits. ;-) 2) I prefer the "constricted" way of building, that is, having to come up with designs using the bricks you happen to have. That's really the Lego thing for me, and being able to just purchase any brick you like online feels a little bit like cheating... ;-) (Although let me stress that I also admire beautiful creations done it that manner.) Here's a little something I did quickly with PaB pieces from a local toy store... A building under construction. When I was a teenager, I had summer jobs on construction sites, so this kind of things are fun for me. The building on the right is a modified version of Building Bonanza, using only pieces from that set, and built according to the "modular building standard". Ahh, the Caf

    MOC: Townhouse

Ah, nice! Always heartwarming to see classic town houses with the "late 80's era" look. :-) Reminds me a lot of 6349 Holiday Villa, especially the interior.
  8. Kiitos! ;-)
  9. As I mentioned, according to the Finnair website it is uncertain that I will be able to get my hands on the set. As I have nothing to offer yet, I will take no subscriptions. Just trying to avoid possible disappointments later on... jamtf suspected (in this thread) that they might have 2064 in stock at Schiphol airport, and I'd place my bets on somebody getting a hold of a lot of those planes before I even start packing for my trip to Greece (the board being full of Dutch people and all :-) ). So hang on.
  10. I'll be flying to Greece on the last week of September. According to the Finnair website, they have the 2064 Air Ambulance in stock. However, it seems that Athens is not on the list of scheduled flights where goods are sold. Seems odd. I'll try to snatch a few sets if it's possible, but naturally cannot guarantee anything. Sorry for going off-topic (and for being a total noobie :-/ ), but how do you people like to handle payments? Is this thread supposed to deal with this question?
  11. Hello! After reviewing 2064 Air Ambulance, I noticed that the 2006 Airline Promotional Set (2928)" had not yet been reviewed in EB. So here goes. I bought this cute little set last April on a KLM flight from Schiphol (Amsterdam) to Helsinki for 16. Whether they still sell it, I dont know, but at least its available on TUIfly charter flights. Box and contents As mentioned, I purchased this little bird last April, so youll have to excuse me for providing pictures of a ripped box and a half-used DSS. :-| It never crossed my mind that thered by no review here for such an old set then Cannot wait to build must rip box open by force I probably didnt even start unpacking my bags until this was completely built. The box contained two booklets; one for the maintenance hangar and one for the plane itself. I feel silly posting this picture but here it is. :-$ This is one of the rare occasions when I actually have used some of the stickers. The tail stickers were crucial for the look of the plane, a really nice touch, I think. The rest of the stickers represent exhaust hatches, fuel valves and plane identifications. Build The model contains two minifigs. The pilot is a really smart looking character. The maintenance person, on the other hand, looks like hes up to no good. I really like the engine bodies. They add some much-needed credibility to this otherwise too cute set. The entire tail section functions as a cargo door. Nice structure, although looks a bit silly. And after a rather straightforward build, we are left with three little extra bricks: Finished model The hangar is a nice, little addition with play potential. The maintenance-dude has plenty of tools at his disposal. The windsock particularly is a fun touch. The cargo is a mailbox with a clear lid. It fits snugly inside the craft. The set includes two red coffee cups, which can be stuffed to the cargo box and flown to some remote location, for some reason. Youll notice that the roof of the cargo area also opens. Both doors are normally sealed shut with a white 2x2 tile. The first thing youll notice (after the *wub* awwww, how cute-reaction) is that the plane is short. Really, really short. It could certainly use a few more studs in length. Overall Well yes, it is cute. So cute Im almost sick. No, just kidding. This little bird just cries out to be picked up and flown across the room while making silly propeller engine noises. The cargo box, the hangar, and the tools add plenty of play potential. Im thinking about taking the control tower from my Train Level Crossing, adding a modified hangar in red and a few straight roadplates with lights, and theres my neat little town airport! Maybe next week Pros: Its a brick-built plane that fits perfectly to my little town and has plenty of play value. Price per brick with 141 pieces is about 0,11, which I guess is fairly reasonable for a rare promo set. The hangar is a nice bonus, especially when I add the new ambulance promo plane to my little airport. Cons: Its so cute and especially short that its silly. As a promo set, you must fly in order to get it (or pay too much on eBay). Overall I give it a 8/10. Add some length and its a 9.
  12. Many thanks for the feedback, guys! Incidentally, it seems that the earlier promo set 2928 has not yet been reviewed in EB? (All I found about it was this ancient thread.) Should I tease you guys with another review of a set most you won
  13. It's this part: http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/3039px58 I guess it's mainly used to activate the autopilot, since he can hardly move his hands... Don't know what the floppy disk is for, though.
  14. Ahem, greetings to you all, or
  15. Okay then, first post. Ive been around for a while, but as a shy Finn I only registered now that I have something to contribute ;-) Just purchased this little plane for 16,50 on a TUIfly flight back from my holiday in Crete (superb place, btw). They also had 7942 and 2928 and a package deal of all three for the price of 33. Box and contents We have three part bags, and the wings and the rear hatch/roof. The DSS is quite bland for this model Doesnt add much to the final look. Build The model contains two minifigs, the doctor/pilot and the gentleman posing as a patient. The doctor fig is quite boring (despite his multiple talents), but I like the sophisticated look of the patient fellow. First the stretcher trolley. The stretcher itself does not have the usual hinged wheels. The plane uses the new windshield in TransLightBlue. The build is rather straightforward, no surprises here. The usual extra pieces: Finished model The stretcher trolley does not fit inside the plane, only the stretcher itself with a patient. Things get a little bit uncomfortable for the pilot/doctor with the stretcher inside. I would imagine needing quite a bit more elbow room for quick manoeuvres And here is the completed plane. As you can see, I have left the stickers unattached (as I usually do anyway), since they add but little to the outlook. No complaints about the design of this plane, although the rear hatch is rather bulky I especially like the mounting of the rear wheels with the lights attached. The landing light at the bottom of the plane is a nice detail. Overall Here is the finished model with 2928 (my fleet, yay!). I really like these little planes, since the new 7893 Passanger Plane to my taste is way too big and bulky for any tabletown Ok, it might be in correct minifig scale for a jet, but these babies, on the other hand, are neatly constructed and sensible in the context of my (chronically disassembled) town with population of around 40 What I really would like to see is a brick-built propeller passenger plane carrying maybe three minifig passengers, along the design lines of these promo planes. Pros: The design is refreshingly different from 2928 (and especially the current jet planes). The plane looks ok without the stickers, i.e. it can be identified as an ambulance without them. It is a cute little plane that does not consist of huge ugly pieces with little MOCcing possibilities Cons: The design of 2928 is a bit better in some aspects (I like the motors and the door mechanisms of 2928). With 116 pieces, the price per brick is a rather expensive 0,14. As a promo set, it is only available on some airlines. Overall Id give it a 8,5/10. Cute, but not enough chutzpah.
