Me too. Tosin hieman aneeminen postaamaan. Täällä on turhan paljon junnuja nykyjään... lähinnä seuraan uutisia.

Actually, LEGO has reportedly decided to release a rechargeable and "powerful" new lithium battery box for the new train system. I'm a fan of 9V as well, but the batteries won't be the most annoying feature of PF Trains.

You can still use direct links to access the pics. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/lokosupe...ay/p1000868.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/lokosupe...ay/p1000869.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/lokosupe...ay/p1000870.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/lokosupe...ay/p1000871.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/lokosupe...ay/p1000870.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/lokosupe...ay/p1000873.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/lokosupe...ay/p1000874.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/lokosupe...ay/p1000875.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/lokosupe...ay/p1000876.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/lokosupe...ay/p1000877.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/lokosupe...ay/p1000878.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/lokosupe...ay/p1000879.jpg

Direct links to pictures still work, for example: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/lokosupe...ay/p1000879.jpg Just change the number at the end of the link to find the rest. Edit: Oh, cool! Seems like he's uploading the entire catalogue! Just add to the number at the end of the link and find Indy, Star Wars... The first thing that popped into my mind is that you tend to see a lot of restaurants and bars proclaiming how long they've been around. This piece would fit nicely above the door of a Mediterranean pizza joint or a watering hole MOC. Now that's a thorough review: each brick in the set got its individual grade!

Well, I Googled "lego 7898 instructions pdf". The first result was this link. Here are direct links to Lego server for the missing books: Book 2 - Red Hopper Wagon Book 3+4 - Breakdown Crane Book 5 - Car Transport Book 6 - Boxcar

During my Dark Ages, most of my childhood Lego was for a while stored in my grandmother's attic, which is not heated and poorly insulated. Alltogether I'd estimate some five years in temperatures ranging from approx -30 to +30 Celsius (-22 to 86 Fahrenheit). And the result? All the City and Technic sets seem ok, but the few Fabuland figures I had now have awfully loose joints. I can't seem to make them stand up anymore.

I cannot believe we are actually finally getting to vote. Here goes: Most hilarious: SlyOwl Most horrifying: voxel's genuinely gives me the creeps. Most original: ImperialScouts The last two were a tough choice. Huge thanks to all who have voted for me so far! This is the first vig I've ever built, and I wasn't counting on this kind of success at all. Yeah, I know... Sorry about that.

There is a quite extensive presentation on SNOT by James Mathis available at the ILTCO website. It's titled "Train SNOT" and the examples are mostly train-related, but the techniques are naturally universal. PowerPoint (8MB file) PDF (19MB file)

Hi, Q! :-) What's with the "odd reasons"? :-P And just in case your visit is limited to downtown Helsinki, I'd recommend the Stockmann department store (biggest in Finland, smack in the middle of the city, and a beautiful building). It has the best selection (also trains, Mindstorms etc.), helpful service, and surprisingly it's often also cheaper than toy stores like BR... Usually some good discounts on older sets. They used to have a small PaB, but now it's gone...

"In the Chamber, no one can hear you spam." The worst punishment for a spamming kid is to be completely ignored. Here the little self servicer is seen practising proper forum behaviour in a soundproof cell with no connection to the outside world. Not enough gore and torture, you say? See that little yellow thing on the floor? It's X-O the Ice Cube Tray. Oh, the humanity... The back side contains intruments for restraining the little bastards. This one looks like a lost cause however, as the admin is seen reaching for the big red button... My first vig ever!

Ouch, tough call! So many truly craptastic entries, but I have to go with Graynar's craptacular "Lord Trash's Factory", because of the "awesome" effects on the "box cover" and especially for the hilarious ad "blocks actually fit together". *y* Niiiiice. And although "Block Block" could perhaps be considered something short of a trademark :-D, I already fully associate that name with all this beauty.

Great work, dunamis! Just finished with the build myself... Nevermind the quality of the window molds, nevermind the annoying snap of the new frame each time I open a door, nevermind the 161,95e price tag for Finland :-|... Actually, I could write down quite a list of all the little disappointments (I myself had some trouble distinguishing the blacks and the dark bleys in the manual) but hey... It still is a 100% perfect set. It just simply blows everything else off the water. X-O I'mma gonna make me a little shrine for it and put it on permanent display! Happy happy, joy joy! The skin of my thumbs is peeling off after an overly enthusiastic build, but who could be sad, when the fig with the blue overalls and the ambiguous gender X-O looks so remarkably happy, standing on the balcony, eating a carrot?

TLC is still working on the details, but the new "Power Functions train system" due to release in 2009 will feature are a new designed remote control with a speed regulator and a new rechargeable battery box. Official announcements regarding the future of trains can be found here and here. The new system will feature some kind of remote control, but as Sinner pointed out, the current RC system is gone (and indeed had quite a short life). Not that I'm complaining, anyhow... Besides the issue that sparked this thread, another problem that many AFOLs have with the RC system is that you cannot build huge display layouts, because of the limited range of the infrared signal.

Brick Town Talk managed to get a little interview with Jamie Berard, the set designer. *y*

I'm trying hard not to look at the instructions and spoil all the surprises, but this image is simply amazing: I also uploaded a huge version of the same picture for your wallpaper needs. ;-)

Thanks for adding my review of the Air Ambulance! :-) There's also another one I did of Airline Promotional Set (2928).

It's designed by Jamie Berard, who indeed did the Cafe Corner, as well as the cinema and the gas station in the new Town Plan set. Keep an eye on his interesting (if seldom updated) blog, (http://sideshowjamie.livejournal.com/), where Jamie is likely to talk about the project and the model, once it is officially released.

The windows and doors are new parts, maybe that's why they weren't on the spare parts list... The list also lacks the green base plates, and the carrots. What I find most strange when I look at the spare parts now, is where did all the sand green come from? Nevertheless, what a set! *wub* My Cafe Corner just found a new best friend! Now release it already!

It's the huge fuselage part from the Passenger Plane... *wacko* My exact thoughts! That would explain the ridiculous gap between the wheels and mudgards. Let us hope...
-
I agree that they look nice, but I dislike the build of 7897 because of the huge <insert that tiresome argument> pieces... And I especially fear that the "foremost suitable for the use of children" point means that the juniorisation will continue. No prob. :-)

From The Brothers Brick: So, it's remote control. Is it going to be infrared? This is not actually all bad news. With rechargeable batteries, I might even consider adding one or two of the new kind of trains to my 9V layout... Improved track geometry is a huge bonus, although it won't help me.

It looks like the frame also appears in the new post van in yellow...
