  1. My DC Collection so far. No knock-offs or customs. I have a purist Smallville Clark Kent I created myself on the left-hand side. I have a decent number of Marvel figs that I'll post later. https://www.instagram.com/p/CNHUC7FJ0fU/ 1) The minifigure is a LEGO trademark. Copying the minifigure infringes on that trademark and that alone is illegal in most markets. That goes without saying that the IP for the bootleg minifigures is held by DC Comics and Marvel, so that doubles the IP theft count per minifig 2) LEGO has not refused to sell minifigures in sets. That implies that they have stockpiles of minifigs just sitting there that are going unsold. LEGO has to work with the IP owners (in this case DC and Marvel) in order to design, create and release products. LEGO does not get to pick and choose what minifigs they will release in a given cycle. They also need to consider what will sell if they include it in a set 3) Encouraging other people to engage in an illegal transaction is wrong
  2. I need the genuine thing too. Didn't bother going the refund route. Even though it was several hundred dollars I really dislike conflict and didn't want to deal with trying to get negative feedback removed. I am fortunate in that a few hundred dollars is enough to make me unhappy about the purchase, but not unhappy enough to have to deal with negative feedback and trying to get refunds. My way of dealing with it is to make others aware of the risk and also to report listings that are blatantly a scam. I have been successful and had a few of those removed. This is why my preference is for the sought after minifigs to be released in sets. Really dislike when really sought after minifigs are locked away in the expensive sets, or worse, made as exclusives. My argument has always been that it costs LEGO money when they make exclusives. I've spent a bit of money on SDCC minifigs that would have gone straight to them. Sure, it is a marketing gimmick, but surely they would have benefited from releasing Black Lightning/Arsenal/Vixen/Spider-Woman in a limited release retail set after the fact. Wish we had the numbers, but I reckon that the Batman set featuring Shazam has sold well because it has what was an exclusive figure in it. The repeat Batcopter and police car alone wouldn't have been enough to keep the set of shelves still. Glad someone else views customs the way I do. *****RANT***** Not to have a dig at anyone, and you all are welcome to your own opinion, but when a minifigure is printed by someone other than LEGO, and the IP holder does not get a cut of the profits then it is bootleg. The only difference is that LEGO has at least received their cut for the minifig, but other than that it is no different to the off-brand bootlegs. The downside to this too is that they are then passed on as the genuine thing, and some poor soul that has for saved months to get something that they would not have paid that amount of cash for otherwise, and the seller gets money that they are not actually entitled to. This is why I don't like customs. I wouldn't mind them as much if they were blatant copies of the exclusive figures. I do find it ironic that the customisers get annoyed at their designs being copied when they have done the same thing to LEGO. *****RANT OVER***** It is really hard to prove because they print on genuine LEGO parts. When people see the LEGO logo they typically assume genuine, and taking that on when there is an ocean between you and the seller it is often easier just to suck it up. You honestly can tell the difference when you see the minifigs in person. Sorry if I have rambled on a bit. You can probably tell I am still annoyed about it
  3. There are legit ones out there, but I did BL one of the SDCC exclusives and found it was an obvious custom. The print was very grainy and also the minifigure has a different texture compared to the genuine artefacts - very noticeable when holding them with other SDCC and LEGO minifigs. The printing is also a piss poor effort and on par with the bootleg stuff coming out of China. Also had a BL Deadpool custom that was sold as genuine, and it was a very good custom but the ink had run on the leg which gave it away. Ended up buying the set and then comparing the two figures side-by-side, this made it easy to tell it wasn't real. When I went back and read shop reviews there were a few complaints about the same MF by multiple other buyers in the store. Both did ship from the US, which I consider a reputable market. Have also found custom Phoenix and SDCC Green Lanterns for sale in NZ as genuine, so it is not a country/region specific issue. Another Superhero collector purchased a Zebra Batman exclusive and also appears to be custom based on the smudged and grainy printing that I saw. This was sold as genuine with the SDCC packaging too. Sometimes there are people that will do anything for a quick buck, and other times it is a case of someone trying to recover their own cost of acquiring the real deal. The best time to get the minifigs is right after they come out, but before the customs are made. It leaves a very short window to make the purchase, and it also means you are probably paying a premium for that peace of mind. Unfortunately I only started collecting in 2016 when I got my first LEGO set, so either had to take the chance or accept living without. Personally, I wouldn't buy Spider-Woman. Jessica Drew was released in her Spider-Girl costume in the bridge battle set - get that one of her instead. The thousands of dollars it costs, IMO, is just not worth it if it is a custom, unless you are okay spending that and willing to take the chance. All you are getting is an alternate costume of a character that has been released in a cheaper set already. Phoenix - unless you can visually inspect the MF in person AND it comes with the backing card I wouldn't buy it. I've seen blatant duds being sold on Ebay as genuine, and I wouldn't assume all BL listings are genuine either. Bizarro - get the Mighty Micro version and stick regular MF legs on him - he looks quirky either way and will save you a ton of cash. I'd be happy to upload some of my collection photos if that is within the rules of this thread.
  4. Pretty sure there was a $30 price tag rumoured for that set, so that hints to it being a retail set of sorts. Think it was mentioned to be a store exclusive. It may have been intended to be April/May when the rumour broke, and could potentially have been delayed due to COVID - it's hard to know exactly how the dates were all determined without all of the facts. With factories all around the world being shutdown at short notice and distribution not having started yet I think release dates would be hard to lock-in for any leakers until the sets are actually released. As excited as I am for the set I guess patience is in order, at least until we start seeing it in the wild. On that note, thanks @Falconfan1414. I'd rather be remined now that it might not happen until then than be disappointed next month when it is still not on the shelves.
  5. I'd be surprised if we didn't get a new print because of the price of the set and it is a Spider-Man set after all. So hoping you are right and it is a new one That would make this my all-time favourite set if they did.
  6. @thephantasm - only 6 of them. Supergirl was the only one I bought that wasn't an exclusive once-off character, but that is because I am a fan of the show. Not buying Phoenix because so many sellers are trying to pass off the custom figures as the genuine artefact, and I am reasonably certain we'll end up getting her some day. Forgot that I didn't buy Maria Rambeau either, so also missing her, but a purist one could be made more than easily enough, just with the wrong head (I used Mae Jemison's). Didn't think it was worth the money just for a head. I have 260+ unique DC and 280+ unique Marvel minifigs. My three favourite characters are Marvel (Daredevil, Punisher and Elektra), but the Batman universe makes for my favourite comic book setting My favourite DC characters are Aresenal, Green Arrow and Huntress - so was really pleased to have Huntress in the DC CMF. Really hoping rumours about the Daily Bugle hold true
  7. I have at least one minifig of each character LEGO has released, except for Mayor McKaskill and Phoenix. Don't do knock-offs or customs (which to me are no different to knock-offs)
  8. That's why I'm curious. It was a huge relief being able to buy at least some of the sets last year without needing to fork out stupid sums of money. Hoping personally that there aren't any such exclusives this year seeing its is cancelled. Need every cent I can save with the amount of sets we are already getting
  9. No, I'm a fan too. Looking forward to getting it as I let the kids play with most of my LEGO collection. The '66 Batcave being one of the very few exceptions, so this would be a great way to get one for playing with. @thephantasm I've been saving the info in a spreadsheet as I've found it, and seems we don't know much about that set yet so you could be right; 76179 The Batman 14.99 76180 Batman '66 Batman and Joker Vehicles 4+ 29.99 136 76181 The Batman 39.99 76182 Batman Cowl 59.99 410 76183 The Batman 69.99 76188 Batman '66 batmobile 29.99 76239 Batman 39.99 422 October 76240 Batman 229.99 October
  10. Yeah, that would be awesome. I love the polybag version, but an updated one would be great. There are so many sets to look forward to this year that I have removed all of the non-superhero sets from my budget for the rest of the year. Do we know if there is going to be a limited gwp this year? Also, anything on what would have been SDCC exclusives this year, or still too early to know?
  11. @TOTDForever - you completely misinterpreted what I said. I know the sets are coming out and I know that they aren't rumours - my wife has already agreed to me getting most of these sets day 1, and I am really excited for the waves heading our way. My response was directed at CF Mitch and how the Iron-Man armours would translate to minifigs if and when they come out. I assume we are getting the Mk3 armour (when) in the War Monger set, but haven't seen any confirmation of the Mk4 armour (if) yet.
  12. I think it is just our expectations are much lower. I had the same thoughts, but hopefully LEGO blows us out of the water if/when these come out
  13. Mockingbird, Quake and Deathlok would be cool Would prefer a comic based Elektra, the Netflix one is very easy to do a purist custom figure. Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist - yes please I am hoping, especially if the Daredevil rumor turns out to be true Hoping to see Gwen. We have had a few MJs, so would be great to get a new love interest, and also super excited for the set. That would be awesome
  14. Yeah don't get that. How are they going to make it more adult orientated than the Constantine series we already had. That was fairly dark as it is. Thought that they would have been better of doing her as in the vain of Smallville pre-CW. She is a more popular mainstream character imo than Constantine is and he has only been helped by the CW shows
  15. Hahahaha - I stole some ideas of yours from pics in random Google searches. Thanks for the inspiration, and great job! China White and Pearce were my two favs, but there are a few gems in your purist mocs
  16. Yeah, was also curious. For me the D2C is by far the most sought after set. The Benatar might be one I skip. They did also combine HP and FB in the Wizarding World series, so had two related yet separate properties in the same series. This would not be dissimilar to having WV in a Marvel series, so unless if @Falconfan1414 or @Guyon2002 say otherwise this may be within the realm of possibility. My top three, but will vary based on where Daredevil and the Punisher are. If they are both in the D2C it's a no-brainer for me. If the CMF then that moves to the top. If the CMF is only a rehash of minifgs we've got it'll drop to third. D2C - especially if Punisher and Daredevil are included CMF Iron Monger
  17. I would love the roadster as a set. They could have Schmidt driving it too, which is another villain I'd like
  18. That'd be awesome, so let me know if you do please Hahahahaha - take my money!
  19. Ditto - purist at heart. Have you posted images of your purist figures anywhere? Yup. Marvel would have sold worse last year if they hadn't included some sought after figures in the Spider-Man waves, also they would have done okay with some of the Marvel stuff because of MCU inspired sets. DC needs a Dark Knight level series to revive it I think
  20. I would be interested Probably won't sell well Batman and Spider-Man are given cash cows, but even Superman struggles to sell from what I've heard, and at that stage he was one of the top three superhero characters. I think, don't quote me on this, that if it weren't for the MCU being as popular as it is that we'd have far fewer Marvel sets. I am very pleased we are getting the DBC D2C, but don't think LEGO will move far away from the safety of Spider-Man and the MCU
  21. Indeed. I still need modern, decent Batmobile for my Batcave. Currently only have the '66 version, but all of the Batmobile sets I have liked seem to come with boring or repetitive villains. Not keen on buying a set with 2 minifigs featuring Batman and the Joker, or 3 minifigs featuring Batman and two random goons. I'd happily drop $50 on a Batmobile set it had any fresh villain. There are so many that still need to be done, and I thought with BoP releasing last year we could potentially have had Black Mask or Victor Zsasz. Hoping The Batman has something more alluring with its Batmobile set. The Spider-Man sets have been terrible tbh, but even so I have bought a fair few of them because they have had some decent figs. Sure, personally there have been too many Venoms, Carnages, Green Goblins of late, but they have included Spider-Ham, Spider-Man Noir and a few other sought after characters to draw me in. I have skipped a few Spider-Man sets too for the same reason as the Batman ones - they just feel stale. Think it is a recurring theme in the DC theme - give us new characters LEGO! And LEGO, if you do read these forums there are some good ideas here, just scroll back up...
  22. At least it was not in vain, and you helped out someone else by doing so, so kudos to you That makes sense
  23. Far more appeal for me than a twenty year old movie with kids pointing ticks at each other and yelling out Latin phrases. Really looking forward to this wave, and the D2C. There are markets for these, and what is lackluster to one is a dream come true to another.
  24. Nah, there'll be a few of us here like that. I do read comics and also love the MCU. I am into LEGO exclusively for superheroes, though I will happily buy trains. If the superhero themes disappeared I would probably sell all of my LEGO as I am not fussed by the other themes at all.
  25. What puzzles me though is that we've had two Ghostriders and a Deadpool, and he has appeared in Spider-Verse, hence why I'm surprised. I do consider Hob Goblin and Ghostrider darker than Daredevil. Thinking about it, we also had Lobo in the DC range. Holding out hope...
