LEGO Pokémon 2026 - Rumours & Discussion
GameyRaccoon replied to BrickBob Studpants's topic in LEGO Licensed
Moth light for scalpers. If you think Lego scalpers are bad, Pokémon scalpers are a million times worse. -
Dark tan definitely was the way to go. Wicked stuff!

I agree. Quality and durability especially offends me, seeing as those were what set Lego apart the most in my eyes when I was younger. These days, it feels like parts break more, have bad color and print variation, and come missing. Back in the day, I NEVER had missing pieces. In recent memory, it has happened downright often. When I built my Blacktron Cruiser GWP, it came without the entire second bag. I called customer service, and they sent me another copy of the first bag. Had to call again to finally build my spaceship. They've heavily cut down on QA in recent years, and raised prices in the same breath.

My bad. I went off memory here, and my memory failed me! Apologies. I suppose I was remembering those final waves for the later Hobbit films. (2014-2015) Exactly. Unlicensed stuff seems to sell just as well as licensed sets do, which is why I suspect that there's some corporate mandate preventing them from doing more these days, which the old Star Wars contract seems to support.
-
You're being a little intentionally dense here. It's worth noting that Pirates never coexisted with Pirates of the Caribbean, (another Disney property) and Castle never coexisted with LOTR/the Hobbit. Everybody says that licensed sells better than non, but I have yet to see any hard data on this. It's been a long time, but I do not recall Castle sets being on clearance any more than The Hobbit sets were. (Quite the opposite in fact.)

KEEP spitting, Danth. I have been saying this exact thing for years atp. Some of the best space themes existed after 1999 but before 2015. (Namely Space Police III and Alien Conquest) Has anyone gotten any word from any Lego designers about if they would want to work on Space but aren't allowed to due to some company mandate? I know of a few who regularly post Space MOCs online but obviously don't do anything Space for work.

I redesigned it again because I wasn't happy with the shape. (I'm a perfectionist, I know...) and I've managed to slim it down and make the fuselage a little more accurate. What do you think? Is it an improvement?
-
Oh, I agree. Definitely one of the top 5 sets of the 21st century for me.

Keep spitting, Danth. I'm almost looking forward to the Amsterdam Canal Houses set because I'm a total sucker for all things Dutch, but judging by the Italian Riviera/Pirates of Barracuda Bay, it'll be shrunken down yet overpriced. Why spend parts budget on bricks and plates when you could spend it on tiny 1x1 tiles and a big black display pad?
-
TRUTH NUCLEAR. I've been saying all of this for years. To add on to the clout chasing, I would say they absolutely do this. It's long been the meta on Ideas to pump out ideas about popular nerd adjacent franchises and spam them on relevant forums and subreddits to get upvotes from fans of the IP, not necessarily fans of Lego.

Virtually the moment I posted it I became extraordinarily unhappy with the design and completely overhauled it. This version I was initially much happier with. Snot building allows me to not only get a more accurate color (dark green), but a more accurate shape as well. Now my concern is scale. I've unfortunately never had the pleasure of seeing a Sopwith Camel in real life, so nailing the scale is harder than I would like. The fundamental problem with trying to get realistic scale in Lego is the fact that minfigures are simply not proportioned like a human being. What do you think? Is the scale good enough or is it distractingly big? Any ideas on how to scale it down?

Companion piece to my Red Baron MOC from yesterday. I went with Reddish Brown as the main color but the real thing is probably closer to dark green or dark brown but the part selection in those colors is much more limited compared to reddish brown.

[MOC] Playscale Red Baron (Fokker Dr.I)

Thank you! That's what I was going for, more or less. -
For the record, I also really enjoy this era. I've just become bitter by the neglect towards in-house IP in recent memory. (Excepting large icons tributes)
