Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Yellowturnip replied to Gearslover01's topic in LEGO Town
I really want the Elf the movie department store (just the one floor to keep costs down but has lots of easter eggs like the lingerie). Similar to the Friends coffee house, it comes with a removable scene which fits perfectly into the Winter Village. Of course I’m talking about the famous ‘it’s not Santa’ scene. Complete with fake Santa and his thrown, backdrop and decorations, kids screaming and Buddy the Elf freaking out. The minifigs would come with alternative facial expressions, Buddy's ‘Santa!’ face, kids smiling etc. I would have attempted it as an Idea but I didn’t want to step on toes with the person who already had Elf the Movie North Pole scene on there -

I miss when you could just buy the winter village set and get the GWP without having to spend extra. -

Just come across an alternate build to the new set on rebrickable and it’s completely changed my mind…darn it, now I need to buy it after all -

I would love either of them, the ice skating elf possibly more. Any ideas on the price needing to be spent for these 2 -

Interested to see it amongst the older wv sets as opposed to HP ones etc. I decided to get the ice rink instead. Planning on maybe altering it somewhat with a brown wooden cabin and remove the slide and Chinese things. Make it a bit more natural looking. Looking forward to having my first attempt at modifying -

Nightmare Before Christmas is a classic. You’ve just reminded me that I have the Sally and Jack to also add to the Halloween scene. Haven’t watched Krampus yet, is it good? -

Been wanting a nice, good looking Xmas tree for the village but this one just looks like they overstretched it. Does it look like that in real life? I’m thinking of getting the Hocus Pocus set as part of my Halloween display. So far it’s a mash up of the Vampire Haunted Mansion, the bait shop, some trick or treaters and Ghostbusters and the Scooby Doo team on a ghoulish mission. Not sure I could handle if Lego did a Halloween theme like the Winter Village, or should I say my wallet…maybe if Lego did a combined version where you take down the webs and pumpkins and add some snow and cheery lights…oh my, now I’m picturing evil elves 😂 -

Thanks for this. I found it interesting how much the stickers influenced my feelings towards the set…I genuinely like the builds a lot more now and can definitely see me buying it if they continue with this style. -

I’m having to try and like it due to the fact my son thinks the tram is awesome and other half is excited for a music shop…I have zero Lego skills in changing the design myself, wouldn’t have a clue on where to start. All I made as a child was a basic brick box with a window and door over and over. Sooo much money for something that doesn’t excite me -

Jaysbrickblog has photos of this set with some of the other builds from the series including the original Toy shop. It’s growing on me so we shall see -

Nope. Still gutted. I thought it would possibly grow on me. To be honest I find it confusing, like it lacks an actual target audience and is instead trying to attract as many people as it can and loosing so much quality it could have possessed in doing so. An age rating of 18+ and almost a mini version of the modular series - I could get on board with, have a separate area for this style of architecture that resembles a town, away from the hustle and bustle of Santa’s little village. But then it’s so over simplified, lacks depth, architectural interest of the modular builds. Presumably to encourage a family to get together to build them. And what’s with ‘Santa’s Toy Shop’??? This really doesn’t feel in the spirit of Santa at all. I would have much more preferred it if they had concentrated on making an amazing tram with a super cute scene (or perhaps the kind that go up and down cliffs, cliff railway) and it cost less than what feels like a quick throw something together and stick a price tag on it. Sorry Lego, but that’s how I feel -

Jaysbrickblog 10308 Holiday Main Street is designed by LEGO Creative Lead Jamie Berard who had this to say: “The annual LEGO Winter Village sets are one of my all-time favorite holiday traditions. The Holiday Main Street brings together a whole downtown of activity and imagination into one set. Building as an individual or as a family, you’ll discover a model with all the hustle and bustle of a festive shopping street – complete with trolley, snow topped shops and children posting letters. I especially like the brick-built toys in the toy shop and the super-cute mini-Christmas tree in the upper apartment. They just make me smile.” -

I got 3 Turkeys… because of the super happy and angry face options, I’m going for the guys who came to a fancy dress party all wearing the same outfit. There’s always those that hate others wearing the same thing and those that think it’s awesome. and yeah, I’m not thrilled with the description but it’s mainly due to preferring the old fashioned one building and mini build (car, tree etc) with the lower price tag, and that I would have preferred so many other ideas over this one. -

I really hope so!!! We used to get a reveal on a Thursday. If not I bought myself a 6 box of minifigs that should arrive tomo. Fingers crossed I get the ones I want…I tried this feeling business and got 3 security men stalking me 😂. The pressure got too much so I ended up buying the ones I was poking. I got 2 elves and a snowman ☃️ I don’t dare go back to feel for a reindeer and the rest -

That’s an interesting point. They could be one building with 2 shops. All I know is I’m starting to struggle with my impatience now 🤣 -

For me it’s the price. I can handle another toy shop if needs be and do some modding. But I don’t know how I feel about having to spend so much if it’s 2 buildings. I would much prefer one build with a tram and for the price to be more like the original sets (toy shop, bakery, post office). Or a really beautiful detailed build and pay that little bit more. Well either way, we shall see. I will probably get it either way as I have every year since 2009 -

Find it odd that they would do another toy shop. Especially when the original was re released. -

Lucky! I don’t know a shop where I can go and have a good old feel. Have to say I really did think today would have been the day…sigh. Was it the 9th last year? -

I would have this as part of the school production. You can’t have a school without kids putting on a Xmas play
