  1. Interesting that the year of space branding seems to noe be for all Spaxe sets
  2. For the Elsa-verse Spiderman of course Also the movie was delayed pretty late, it probably was a loose tie in like the Looney Tunes CMF was for Space Jam 2 but the film was delayed so they kept it. Not like Shrek needs a film to market itself anyways Why I'm surprised Gingy isn't a pack in with someone too, but I guess it makes sense he's a figure given that they already have a mold for him. Anyone else find it funny the one character from anything outside of the first two films is a random side character from Shrek the Third?
  3. My dream theme is The Nutshack. I know that'll be coming in the next five years
  4. If any of you don't know what he's referencing please watch this, the greatest scene in cinema history
  5. Probably veering away from lego but the issue is the cinematic universe venture only can last so long before getting insular, it doesn't open new storytelling possibilities, it's a gimmick to make you watch 38 of the same movie and that sorta gimmick really has diminishing returns. There are a lot of kids in peak lego age not born or who were too young to form memories in 2018, 2019. They have no reason to give a crap and no entrypoint to these films unless a parent sat down a kid and showed them all 49 films and 36 shows, and even then a kid might not care. Spider-Man and Batman are uniquely marketable but everyone else depends on nostalgia and the entrenched superfans who'll see anything with the logo. The DCU I think is gonna struggle because Gunn is going full Cinematic universe with 78 tv show characters apparently in Superman 2. The Batman is funny because it's the only one of these films where the announcements are "This is a Batman Movie, it will star Batman character" instead of Spider-Man teams up with the Nightman to fight Purple Hulk or something
  6. No, I think that's still true, it's just this is IP land, kids want the characters they see in cartoons, games and movies. Every DC set is competing for kids attention with every marvel set as there's a lot of overlap with capeshit. Kids will take Spider-man or Captain America over Superman most of the time, Batman however is DC's big character who doesn't play the same game as every other hero. Batman is an exception to most rules with superhero crap as he has more DNA with detective and pulp heroes of the 40s. It's why you get more big actors, directors and such who usually wouldn't touch superhero stuff wanting to do Batman projects than even an equivalently popular hero like Spider-man. Tldr, even if every DC character was grey or Batman wore his rainbow suit in sets nothing would change, colours aren't the issue, DC not being an in trenched brand in the way marvel is means sets don't sell as well, Batman is an oddity toyetic and popular enough to survive this
  7. Okay, I'm not a fan of Street Fighter so maybe I'm missing something but literally everything I've seen from it is that it's a campy, pretty bloodless, regulated fighting tournament between people or monsters with super powers to win a prize or title or something right? Why are some people here acting like it's even pushing LEGO's boundaries? I think what's stopping it would be if kids give a shit about it even remotely. Interesting architype to do pretty much immediately after a Willy "Wonker" set, hope it means there's some really inventive spin on it
  8. The hair curls more at the bottom and sits less over the shoulders too, if memory serves
  9. Well Street Fighter would get you Polka-dot Man I guess Yeah, right. I thought it was Street Fighter too but that makes me think Shrek
  10. You both did way better than I could, if I really sat with it maybe I could have dug out Gillian's character from the recesses of my brain but that's it. So with Ruby, Shelly, Stone, Jurgen, Sarah, Peter and Mouse that's 7 actual names. plus Murdoch's unnamed trinity which could what they're credited as that is just under or just over the Olympics CMF. There for it will absolutely be Jumanji, no further discussion. Mods close this topic now
  11. I think I could see Street Fighter? Maybe, is that getting a big push? LEGO is doing a lot of gaming licences lately
  12. Notice how none of them were named
  13. Clayface is probably fine as long as the movie doesn't become like defining for the character's perception
