  1. Ahh, that makes sense. Thanks! As in the fake one from last year, that's popping up again recently? Pictured here: fake octan modular by The Nev, on Flickr Although it is possible that Lego could choose the same name coincidentally, but I very highly doubt it. Very good point!
  2. So did you see it or what? You can't just leave us hanging like this, we need details! :D
  3. Ooh, more info, how exciting! I'd be happy to see another 48x32 modular, as it will make an even block possible, however, I feel like it will detract slightly from the specialness of AS being the 10th Anniversary "super modular", and of course the bigger price tag that goes with a bigger set... Seems like this Garage rumour is getting some traction, can't wait to see what it is! I've got high hopes, there's a lot of potential with a garage, it should be interesting what architectural style it uses! No matter what, it'll definitely spice things up on the street a bit! I'm guessing that a substantial portion of the baseplate will be used for a drivethrough, hence the bigger footprint. Exciting times! Two days and we should know all!
  4. Woah. Let's simmer down, eh? The point I was trying to get at earlier was that the Creator Expert modular line and the City theme are tagetted at different audiences and serve different purposes, each is a world into their own. While City sets are maily playsets targeted at children, the modulars are mainly dislplay sets targeted at adult collectors. Sure, there is overlap, but that's where the bulk of the market is for each of them. They're both tailored to two different markets, and that's why I don't see why they would clash. But anyway. In response to an earlier reply to my comment about banks inn the City line, I was under the impression that there's been a few, I have one in my city from 2011ish, and I remember seeing a different one on the shelves a few years after that. They may be the only ones ever done, and if so, I apologise for being wrong. I thought that there were others as well.
  5. This looks like Lego! This is one of the few building I've ever seen that are basically asking to be remade in Lego, and it would be relatively easy too. I really don't think you can use City sets to justify not to do a modular. They're both completely different lines with different purposes and audiences. Saying the modular line shouldn't have a police station because they already make a police station in the city line every few years is like saying Technic shouldn't do trucks or cars, because the city line is always releasing trucks and cars, or that the Ideas line shouldn't do spaceships/rockets because Star Wars does spaceships regularly, or that Creator Expert shouldn't've done the roller coaster because Creator 3-in-1 did one in the same year, or vica-versa. And I'm pretty sure the Fire Brigade is one of the top sellers/most popular, it's the first one, according to Brickset, to have more people who own it than people who want it. But even so, what about Brick Bank? There's a bank in the city line fairly regularly as far as I'm aware, and they did the Brick Bank just fine. I do agree that the trend towards multipurpose buildings makes a Police Station unlikely, as there's nothing that springs to mind that you could incorporate into the building, like the laundromat with Brick Bank. But then again, there's nothing that springs to mind to attach to a Cafe, Grocer, pet shop, Detective's Office, Restaurant or Diner, yet they managed those... However, a garage would more naturally accommodate an apartment or another business, as the garage itself would probably only need the ground floor. A Police Station would use up much, if not all, of any building its in.
  6. Why would anyone think that the line isn't continuing next year when Lego have announced an official reveal date?
  7. Would love to see one! Could also have an arcade too, like the one on ideas that didn't get picked.
  8. I think that the Twitter response from Lego could, as I've said before, mean anything or nothing. There's so much that it could possibly be hinting at that I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't hinting at anything at all. As for the Garage "leak", it's obviously either real or fake. But for now, we have no way of knowing. So all up, nothing is certain, and we aren't likely to know anything for sure until the official release on the other side of this weekend. And to throw another spanner in the works, someone on Facebook said that they spoke to a person at the Lego Store, who knew the name of the next modular, didn't reveal, but said that judging by the name a lot of people will love it and a lot of people won't like it. But I think we knew that much already, as that criteria matches every potential design ever discussed... Honestly, I'm expecting Lego to unveil a building that isn't a garage or a Police station or a record store. I think we're going to be completely surprised by whatever it is.
  9. That's basically it, time will tell... I think there's so much potential for this rumour of a garage; it could be a petrol station, a mechanic's workshop, even a parking garage isn't out of question! Not that I'd be particularly happy if a parking garage was the case...
  10. Yeah, some guy put up a clipping of a table of sets and their set numbers, Creator Garage was listed as 10264, which would be the next modular. No way of knowing it's validity until release unless more info surfaces.
  11. Assuming its correct, it says Creator Expert in the right column, and set number 10264 in the left. Interesting note, I did a reverse image search, and it has no matches. Also asked the guy for the whole table, and not just a small cropping, but he said that its a "non-public doc". He also said that "it's 50 - 60's inspired from my understanding".
  12. I won't be at all surprised if it isn't a garage. This "leak" isn't from a very reliable source that I can tell, there's no evidence to back it up. Personally, I think it's fake. But, I've shared it here as its a new card on the table in our speculation and discussion. Interpret it how you will.
  13. Thanks, but I think it should be okay seeing as it's not revealing anything that hasn't already been said or mentioned earlier.
  14. I believe this is what you're talking about? Found in the Facebook group "Amazing Lego Modular Buildings", posted in a comment in reply to a post speculating what the 2019 modular would be. Person who provided this said "definitely going to be a garage", then said "inside info" when asked how they knew. Few replies later, they attached this image. Up to the individual to interpret it's authenticity...
  15. Interesting. Hope some pictures surface, wonder if it's a corner? I wouldn't worry about cars subtracting from the building itself, as a garage requires empty space for the vehicles inside, as well as driveway and doors. Just look at the ground floor of FB, it's still one of the best looking modulars yet (imo anyway). Would be interesting what they do with the build, what does it even look like??? How exciting! If this is true anyway... I get where you're coming from! But everyone seems to warm up to things over time, by the time the official release comes around people will be more receptive.
  16. I completely agree. Compare it to the release of a movie. Without the build up of trailers and teasers, no one would be excited, interested or even aware of the upcoming movie. When you go back through this thread to previous years, you get a sense of much more excitement when even just the nature of the set is released. When DO was leaked to be a Detective' s Office, there was months of excitement and speculation as to what the set would look like, what would it's layout be, would it have other businesses as well? Same with Assembly Square when the name was leaked, everyone wondered how they could make what sounds like an open area fit into the modular street. But when theres nothing revealed, like this year, we just get stuck in the loop of "it should be a post office, a museum, a garage, a Police Station, a post office, a hospital, a school, a museum...", "it would be good to see some of this architecture, or some of that architecture"
  17. That's fair enough, but I think that's what we've been hoping will happen, as we do every year. Personally, I'm still hoping for an early reveal, whether it's official or not.
  18. a) Where'd this new info come from? b) Good luck with the 2nd part! Although I doubt any leaks will emerge now
  19. Only real clue so far is from Lego's reply to someone asking what it will be next year and if it will be a Police Station. Their reply was "its the sound of the police! You'll have to wait to find out" (paraphrased) you can see the actual reply 2 or so pages back. But that could mean anything or nothing. Apart from that, rest is speculation and rumours with no substantial evidence. I think this is the first year that Lego has successfully kept it un-leaked! Not going to touch wood, because there's still time for a sneak peak...
  20. Are we really ruling out that it could be a Police Station? I mean, if the guy asking the question did hit the nail on the head, it's not like Lego would respond with "you're right, that's exactly what it is." And there was a dude on here a few pages back who seemed pretty confident that it will be a Police Station next year, not to mention that we've had a Police officer and countless criminals in other sets! There was demand for a bank for several years before we eventually got Brick Bank, and there's been just as much demand for just as long for a Police Station. Although this hint could mean anything or nothing, I'm starting to think that maybe it is time for a cop shop... Time will tell!
  21. Honestly, it isn't as far out an idea as people make it out to be. Brick Bank goes all the way to the back corner of the plate, and there's no reason why another building couldn't do the same. As eagle fan said, it adds much more options to a layout. I know that a lot of people display the modulars with the rear against a wall, and an inverted corner would allow this display to be continuous along multiple walls of a room. The main point of discouragement/unplausability is that it would be terrible as a standalone set, with all 4 sides unadorned bar an 8x8 section of wall that faces onto the sidewalk. Imagine the box art! And with quite a few fans demanding that more emphasis be put on the facades and profiles of the buildings, an inverted corner building denies that almost completely. I do think it will never happen as an official set, but it isn't entirely absurd...
  22. Yes, they were definitely great, I always dreamed of having a whole suburb in my city, doubt that will ever happen, they're a bit harder to come by nowadays. I think Detective's Office was officially revealed on the 21st of November, although it had been leaked/rumoured well before that. So we should hopefully get a reveal any day now! The suspense is killing me!
  23. Jamie did say in an interview that they don't like to stick to a set pattern or be predictable, such as having 3 floors, until the FB came out, or having the classic blank smile faces until this year. So I wouldn't be surprised to see the corner-straight-straight pattern debunked. For the same reason, I don't think next year's modular will be anything that has been predicted, I think that like every other year, we will be surprised.
  24. I can't believe that Brick Bank is going already, but I guess it's either it or Parisian, which it seems is going to live forever...
