DC Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion
CoolDudeRadman replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Licensed
Insider info: note: none of the following is true in any conceivable way but it might as well be due to what we have seen in recent years. CMF: All characters will be Batman. There will be no variation except they will have different bat weapons. Almost all of them will have the super jumper we all know and hate. Upcoming Sets: All of them will have Batman. In fact every mini figure will be Batman poorly pretending to be all of the other characters. Each set will have a terrible Bat vehicle each one progressively worse looking than the last. At least two of the bat vehicles will be the Bat-canoe, and the bat razor scooter. There will be one actual location build. Sike, there will be zero. -

Plus looking at some villains in recent years, OMAC for example, WAAAAYYY less known than so many other iconic villains that haven’t been released in physical form yet, so I wouldn’t count out Crime Syndicate or any slightly more obscure villains -

Swamp thing is best made as a big fig and I hope characters like him who deserve big fig form aren’t in the CMF -

Alright. Zatanna is like top 20 most famous DC heroes, both her and Doctor Fate were in the LEGO Flash movie. Atrocitus was a main villain in the LEGO Aquaman movie. LEGO DC uses the movies and video games to open up their audience to new characters. The sets, movies and video games all help market each other so that they can expand their character use beyond the mainstream ones so that they can give the consumers new and unique products that are worth buying. Sure they haven’t really been too successful recently and do tend to reuse villains and focus mainly on characters like batman so when you see batman you know okay this goes with the other sets I bought. It’s not like they’re using super off main characters like ambush bug and his evil sock villain. The farthest we’ve strayed from mainstream was the LBM CMF but that said, Lego hasn’t even given us that many of the borderline mainstream characters yet, and even some of the purely mainstream ones. There are so many iconic Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern villains we still haven’t seen in physical form. We aren’t even close to running out of characters to use that the majority of people buying/building the sets know about. Heck, if you buy and build these sets every year and haven’t started reading some comics of some sort then these sets aren’t really targeted towards you. You buy the sets because you know the characters and you know the characters because you read the comics, or like me you read the comics because you’ve been introduced to the characters from LEGO. -

I would say the worth of this set really depends on what they do with it. In all hope, this set has immense potential to be the greatest things to happen to the DC line since the 2015 sets. Seeing as we haven’t gotten a ton of new characters at the same time, this opens room to get 16-20 completely new characters (minus the few we know will be characters we already have probably with minor changes in costume and face as well as unique accessories). I feel like there are a few routes they could go, doing solely superheroes, villains, or even having some regular person outfit variants of characters (gotta say while having Diana Prince, Clark Kent, Barry Allen, etc. out of costume is appealing I’d definitely rather have new supers and villains. I doubt they would focus only on young justice members, main JL heroes and I think it would be a mistake to get remakes of any villains. The LBM sets were good for the villains and new JL members, but this line has so much potential AND it has potential to get a second line if it does well enough, so the more of these lines that come out, the mini-figures will likely get better in accordance to what we want. I think Raven, and Saturn girl are two obvious ones that are the only ones missing from Teen Titans and the Legion of Superheroes (that we saw in Cosmic Clash), so it would be a mistake to not use this opportunity (or the new sets) to include them. Other than that I will be happy for any Young Justice or JL Dark member as well as new villains: Bizarro (not Doomsday cuz he deserves a big fig), Larfleeze, Black Adam, Metallo, Hush, Malcolm Merlyn, etc. but most of all GIVE ME EVERY CRIME SYNDICATE MEMBER. Thank you for coming to my TEDtalk. -

Maybe the D2C is undergoing changes or something, or it was just too cool that like the ark of the covenant seeing it would instantly kill us. -

So do we know if the Shazam figure comes with the hair from the original leak or is it not included? -

I’m pretty sure the “cave pieces” are actually just clay from clay face -

Honestly, the only things worth getting are Catwoman, Shazam, Gordon, and the police car. Everything else is rather disappointing compared to previous sets and the LEGO Batman Movie sets. -

Honestly, nothing can beat the 2011 Harley Quinn. I’m excited for Clayface more than any other potential figures mostly in hope for a minifigure or bigfig. Then Catwoman for the new variant with the goggles. But another riddler and joker? Eh. I’ll pass unless the sets have better other characters. I’m looking forward to seeing what the Two-Face and Mr. Freeze look like but if they’re not anything special then this wave will just be a bust for me. I would love to see other DC heroes and villains we have yet to see since the January wave was lacking overall. It really just feels like they’re repeating the 2011-2012 Batman sets tbh. -

We had a plastic man exclusive for LEGO Batman 3. Black Canary with the LEGO Batman Movie Minifigure series. Green Lantern could appear again, it has been awhile, but likely Hal Jordan (though we are getting a variation of him in LEGO Movie 2 set), Guy Gardener or Simon Baz. -

Weren’t there rumors about a Grundy and Copperhead set that got pushed to the summer wave? So I assume we may be getting them... -

That’s the problem with this marketing strategy. If all people want is Batman based sets, then they’ll buy one with the Batman figure they want (unless it’s some variant, which 4/5 times it isn’t), and then won’t buy any other sets. No one buys all the different sets to have multiple of the same Batman, if that were the case you’d just buy a bunch of the cheapest set. The selling point in each of these new sets isn’t Batman, it’s Firefly (arguably a Batman villain so I guess in that case), but also Aquaman and Ocean Master. No one would buy the Aquaman set if they didn’t want the characters. Otherwise they could give us no new characters and just one Batman figure and people would buy it, which would never work. A stray from the DC Superheroes title is a huge mistake, and I really hope that the labeling being Batman focused is the farthest it goes. -

I would argue that the LEGO Batman Movie sets were their Batman central brand and anything they didn’t accomplish with those sets was a wasted opportunity but at this point I’ve had enough Batman and personally I believe that the 2015 January DC superheroes sets where there were 5 was their best wave and they should go back to that. Down with the Batriarchy. -

I would be very disappointed if they went back to having solo Batman sets. We practically have all of Batman’s rogues at this point save for a few key players that they can easily add in a couple sets (Mad Hatter, Zsasz, Black Mask, Grundy, Copperhead) while we are missing many key justice leaguers and even more of the rogues galleries of the more important members we already have. (Metallo, Toy Man, Bizarro, Doomsday- all Superman), (Circe, Ares, Giganta- Wonder Woman), (basically every Flash and Green Lantern villain). I really hope they don’t just rerelease new versions of characters we all already have for the next couple years. -

Where are you guys finding the pictures of these sets (specifically the new carnage one)? I’ve only been able to find the venom mech set photos. -

Is anyone else disappointed when we get a new character in mighty micros that hasn’t been released in LEGO form? Ex: Doomsday and Bizarro. I really hope that trend doesn’t continue or that LEGO releases those characters soon in regular form. -

I’m not sure about the rest of you but I really hope that the January sets aren’t Batman centric. We just had 2 sets Batman centric that had to reach into the depths of obscure characters such as Omac so can we please get some mainline heroes and villains that we don’t have already. I would totally be down for a GCPD set if that’s the $100 one. But I’m sick of all these vehicles. I’ve got so many bat-vehicles just give us some buildings like a bank or donut shop or really anything stationary. The new Super Villains game is giving so much opportunity for new villains LEGO has to jump on it. Praying for crime syndicate figures. Clayface bigfig (and minifig looks good too) New Catwoman with goggles Malcolm Merlyn Heatwave Black Adam Solomon Grundy Livewire Metallo That Steppenwolf and the parademons and lower on the list are the new Deathstroke and Grodd with the armor also can we agree that the new Riddler looks like the Hamburgular
