  1. Recevied my UCS TIE today and started it early afternoon. It took about 4 hours, with several breaks in between. While I was disapointed early on, when the set and the first pics were revealed, I like it so much more now. I think it's well done by TLG. It really captures the look of the TIE - even more than the system scaled version (which seems soooo small in comparison). I haven't scaled the TIE yet but I think the TIE is about the same scale as the X-Wing. While the inner sides of the solar panels are not as nice as the outer sides, it's ok for me. I can't find anything wrong with the cockpit sphere at all - it's as round as it gets with bricks. And boys, the thing is huge! Here's a comparison shot with some other UCS: Compared to the X-Wing: And a final one - I really like the proportions and the techniques they have used for the solar panels and their attachments:
  2. Hi, I wanted to get a spare sticker set (just in case), so I ordered one at the Lego service some weeks ago, especially after reading about the bad printing quality. Well, I received not only one, but two (2) sticker sets for the Slave I. While both have the typing error, they are absolutely different. One is the same as the one in the set (although a little bit better printed), the other one has a way darker color to it and the sticker sheet is much thicker. And the color-chipping on the panel stickers is different, too - so, a wholly different sheet (has another part number, as well)
  3. I bought set 8038 "Battle of Endor" today. My wife found it in some weird Manga/Videogame store. Price tag said 99.90 euros and it was in mint-condition. After seeing the new Ewok Village set, I couldn't resist getting this Endor-themed set as well. Seeing the prices for 8038 currently on ebay and amazon, I thought 100 euros a fair price for such an old set.
  4. I'd offer all my scans. Hopefully my scans are good enough (I use 1200dpi, my scanner's max.)
  5. Sadly I never owned 10026, so I have no scan of its stickers. But if you need a scans of newer sets, just ask.
  6. I scan most of my sticker sheets for some time now before using them on the set, especially the stickers of the collector sets. I'm a proud owner of a original 10019 UCS Rebel Blockade Runner and after some years, all stickers began to brittle or peeling off. Contacting TLG was not succesful, so I started to scan all my sheets in case I might need a new one. Edit: I started scanning my sheets about 1-2 years ago, way to late for some of the wanted sets. Sorry for implying I'd have scans of 10019...
  7. Me and my family might try this beast. What size will it approx. be? And are there templates available in the instructions for printing the UCS-style display?
  8. Ordered mine last weekend and finished it on 2 days ago. Great model, I enjoyed every minute of this set. I will not mod the X-Wing, as I collect and display my Lego vehicles as they were created by TLG. The most annoying part were the stickers on the cockpit, but I used a sharp cutter and cut the clear parts off - I only used the frame of the stickers. Afterwards I polished the clear part and the look is just perfect!
  9. I think with the re-release of the X-Wing, re-releases of any other vehicles are possible, although TLG may rather tend to re-release the most iconic Starwars ships. I wouldn't be surprised to see another collectors edition of the clssic Imperial Star Destroyer, as well as the Millenium Falcon. Also remember that there are no really iconic Starwars vehicles left (except the AT-AT), which haven't been released as collectors sets. I'd love to see a Nebulon-B or Slave-I, but I don't think they will be done as they are simply not iconic enough. And with the epic fail of the B-Wing (although I love it) they will keep their hands off any secondary vehicles for collector sets.
  10. I just ordered it, despite the awful price/parts ratio. Used my few VIp points to get at least 10 Euro off, better than nothing. I just finished the 10240 X-Wing and planned to get the B-Wing later this year, but I've decided to get it now and give it myself as a gift for christmas. I've managed to get all "UCS" models since 2010 and some older ones (At-St, Rebel Blockade Runner) and I keep on collecting them all.
  11. Anyway, that just sucks. First, TLG gave the US a real bargain with this set, only to announce now that the set is going to be discontinued now. Too bad i started with my UCS X-Wing today, otherwise I'd have sent it right back and have it returned for a B-Wing...
  12. Are there any official confirmations for this? I'm a bit surprised, as it has been released just a bit more than haf a year ago. I just ordered the X-Wing, as I hoped for a later sale on the B-Wing, but seems I have to get this asap...
  13. Last few days saw several lego purchases (well, orders): - 10188 Death Star (my son's own purchase from his birthday money) - 9500 The Old Republic Fury-class interceptor (62 euros from amazon.es - nothing to complain about) - 9493 X-Wing starfighter (53 euros from amazon.de) And finally my wife surprised me after she came home from shopping: She bought 9488 battle pack (Arc-Trooper & Commando Droids) and five sets of 9489 (Endor Rebel trooper & Imperial Trooper) for 6,50 euros each - quite a bargain here. Guess it was some kind of sell-out.
  14. Hi, is there any source for replacement stickers or really good scans of the stickers? I've begun to scan the sticker before starting assembly of my sets, but I didn't had the idea back when I started collecting SW Lego. Now, I've rebuilt my USC Tantive IV, but most stickers have come apart and I'd like to print myself a new sheet - anybody got a good scan? Thanks, Dennis
  15. Placed my orders early this morning. Got the R2D2 for my wife and also got the Droid's Escape and Geonosian Cannon sets for my son's birthday. MAde it two separate orders, to get 2 TC14s and 2 TIEs. I'd have bought the SSD for the reduced price, if I already haven't bought it last year...oh well, better than nothin.
  16. Finished my #1021 this morning. I started Saturday evening and took me about 8 hours to complete it. It was actually quite a lot of fun, despite the large masses of grey parts. It was far more fun and less frustrating than the #10212 Imperial Shuttle, especially with only few Lego Technic parts. The ship really looks impressive, despite the mentioned flaws. Yes, the bottom is rather flat. Yes, the bridge section is senseless. Yes, the details are somewhat in a repeating pattern. But I don't care much, it just looks right to my eyes and looks incredible huge beside all the other SW Lego sets. I may add some parts and re-do some areas, but in my eyes, 10221 is worth the money. I'm absolutely not into MOCs, I just build and display the items. It's just a huge and it's my most favorite spaceship of any SW episode and that what counts to me. The figures are a nice addition, although they should have added 4LOM and Zuckuss. Of course, a well-made MOC will always be better than any commercially produced Lego model, being a Ultimate Collector model or not. For a commercial product, #10221 is well-made and I guess in about 5 years will be in the same price area as UCS ISD or UCS Falcon.
  17. Just finished building #10221 Super Star Destroyer. Pre-ordered at Lego-shop and received it last Friday. Guess it'll be the last SW Lego for quite some time, as my funds are dried out, now. But the SSD was worth the money...
  18. Is it sure that there will be a second UCS set in 2011 after the Executor SSD? I thought the Obi-Wan Jedi Starfighter came out in 2011 - or was this the second UCS set after the Imperial Shuttle (which came out in late summer 2010)? Lots of possibilities, of course. Would love to see a B-Wing, but I'm satisfied if this comes in 2012 as mentioned before. Any other rumors about this second UCS set? After the size of the Executor, I believe the second UCS will be a bit smaller (say about the size of Obi Wans Starfighter or the UCS Y-Wing).
  19. I think this set is ok - not great but not terrible either. My son wanted this set so we bought it along with the Republic Frigate. The proportions look ok to me and I think the cockpit is even great. The only thing I don't like is the underside, as it's too flat. The figures are great IMHO, especially the Qui-Gon Jinn. I also like Maul's nre headpiece. It may look weird, but come one, all Lego figures don't look realistic. I think it's silly to complain about such features, as it is LEGO after all. The price (in Euroland) is a bit high, but this will always be an issue with Lego SW sets, so what...?
  20. Now after the USC Super Stardestroyer is comming out, I hope they'll make an UCS B-Wing or even better, an UCS Nebulon-B Rebel Frigate
  21. The UCS Super Stardestroyer is a must-have for me. I don't care about the brickpart-money ratio, as long as the model looks good and is huge. I won't wait for any off-sales (which will propably not be available for this kit, as it'll certainly be a Lego-Shop exclusive in Germany) and I'm going to preorder the thing, as soon as it's offered. I've really thought they'd make a Midi-Scale Executor (2 feet long or something), but a UCS is even better IMHO. It'll be the center of my Lego collection for sure. But I really hope they'll continue the Midi-Scale series with other larger spaceships, which are to large to produce for the Minifigure-series (the ISD, Venator SD and Death Star just looks wrong in my eyes, as too many compromises were done in order to make it suitable for the Minifigures)
  22. The new MF really looked akward to my eyes when I spotted it at TRU. Especially the mandibles are undersized compared to the rest. I'm mainly collecting the sets on the shelf, but my son also plays with them, so the interior is not that important for me. My first thought was "loos weird, i'm not going to buy it". Now, after seeing many pictures and comparisons to the older MF, I've decided to get it, as soon as the prices go down a bit. TRU always offers 20% off 3-4 times a year, so I'll wait for this. Since we don't have the older MF (selled mine years ago) I will have at least one MF in my collection. We did buy the Republic Frigate, though. I was totally crazed about this ship and it really is so cool. I also have the red Republic Cruiser, and while there are certain similarities, they are pretty different in many aspects. The interor is done more nicely and the weapons give it a nice look. The figures are all great, except maybe for Yoda (same one as in the AAT), but Quinlan Vos and Eeth Koth and especially the Wolfpack troopers are incredibly. They have even given Commander Wolffe another clone head, lacking one eye and with some scars on it. The other item we bought is the Sith Infiltrator. While the upper hull and the cockpit looks good, the underside is - well, there is no real underside, just some struts and Technic stuff. This was a bit disapointing, especially with the price (70 euros). The figures are all very nice, though, and my son was so hot for this item... Can't wait for the UCS Executor - luckily, we move from out flat to a new house in fall, so I'll have enough space in the living room to show this behemoth (maybe with a clear displaycase around it...)
