I appreciate it, brother! I think some people have lost sight of what lego collecting is all about. Especially for kids! Nothing like seeing their excitement and joy at tearing open a new lego box they’ve been desperately wanting! I imagine it’s going to be MBS style, even if that official title is out the window. It’ll likely be labeled UCS or Collector’s Edition or something. But it’s got a ton of figures and sounds like display dioramas throughout so I suppose it’s fair enough to say it’s “MBS style”

Yeah, like those other two sets were sets that nobody wanted at all. These are sets that a lot of people want, but are just overpriced. I plan on getting them, mostly after discounts, but probably not all after discounts. I choose to still enjoy Lego and not let YouTubers tell me I’m supposed to complain and hate Lego lol

They were around here for a long time Also, in case you missed it, I was very clear that I needed to try to find one before my son’s birthday. Idk where you live, but here clone sets are impossible to find for the first couple of weeks at least, let alone the first couple of days, which is why my timeline is.

Guys my son is turning 8 in a few days, and he wants the 327th battle pack for his birthday so badly. I found one of them early at Target and did not get street dated! Got his name on it. Couldn’t be happier. Gonna be so hard to get a hold of this for a while I think

I would bet good money Katie Bell is included. They made a brand new torso for her in the new Quality Quidditch Supplies set that matches what she’s wearing in the Hogsmeade scene perfectly

The more I look at it, the more I love the the Main Tower set, and the more I really love the new Hogwarts system. Yes it’s expensive. But at this point what we really needed was a bigger and more detailed system for more serious collectors. I really hope they continue it for several years and give us more of Hogwarts than we’ve gotten before I’d love to at least see the Clocktower and Astronomy Tower, but we need the viaduct entrance and viaduct, it would be great to finally see the Quad, and I’d love some version of the Long Gallery and Bell Towers before this system ends

Ok so I have some thoughts. I’ll get the negatives out of the way. Proportions are a little off, the head and feet in particular are too big for the body. Surrounding build is sort of basic. The bridge of Khazad-dum is barely even part of the build. Really wanted a couple more figures. Whip is kinda crappy. Balrog should have more fire. Positives! Even though the columns are basic, they do a good job of representing the Dwarven architecture of Khazad-dum. Also, even though some of the proportions of the Balrog are off, it still looks excellent. From some angles the proportions even look fine. The printed face is fabulous (even if they end up being stickers but I hope they aren’t). The quote tile is great. The glow effect looks nice. The set looks great displayed either open or closed. I genuinely don’t mind the reused Fell Beast wings. In fact I think they look better on the Balrog than on the Fell Beast. Fell Beast should have had much bigger and differently shaped wings. Overall I think this set really looks good and I can’t wait to have it. Iconic, iconic, iconic. Stuff like this is what lego Icons is all about. Most iconic movie scene in existence to me.

$270 is high for what you get but it’s still a big leap from that to $500. They currently aren’t doing playsets, so to expect this to have been a small play set is nonsensical. I was referring to people who wanted a smaller and cheaper D2C. Which is EXACTLY what this is

I’m confused. People demanded a smaller LOTR D2C. And now they’re mad because they wanted it to be bigger 😭 make it make sense

I really don’t think Minas Tirith would be as hard as people think. Scaling would have to be similar to Barad-dûr which I thought worked pretty well. People will just have to be ok with a high price point

I started with the movies, but have been a lifelong Tolkien fan after that, I read the books all the time, and I agree with you. Minas Tirith is absolutely central to the story, and the tower of Ecthelion on the top, “glimmering like a spike of pearl and silver”, is a very symbolic and iconic piece of the architecture that I think lego would need to replicate if they made the set.

TandNbricks literally always has some bs reason to try to justify his info being wrong whenever he has to backtrack, it’s actually kind of hilarious

Yes, as worrying as statements like that are, it could be that these three sets were planned from the beginning, and perhaps after seeing the performance they have begun planning more. Hopefully the inflated price of Bag End doesn’t make it flop. But from what I’ve heard it’s still selling like crazy

I’m worried about this too. In an interview they said this “completes the trilogy of sets”. Very concerning words

Really glad to see a bunch of people getting it at launch. Hopefully everyone who tried to get one did, and were able to get the GWP. Mine went through at about 1:30, got the GWP, it’s still in process but hopefully won’t have any issues.
