LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 7 Discussion

Looking at the Bagpiper, I can just hear the bagpipes and drums now, tuning to 'Scotland The Brave'. Ah the pride of Britain. -
Waiting for my real life to begin - Colin Hay. In my opinion, the greatest and most relaxing song ever.

For my Photography course, we were allowed to choose our own subject for the entire project, So I had the idea of mixing my interest in Historical Re-enactment but also make it original. Eventually, after visiting the MCM expo in London with my brother and seeing the Steampunk cosplayers, It got my thinking, the idea of Alternate History could leave me open to hundreds of different styles of shoots. But after a while I began to realise, it would also cost quite a bit if I had to keep buying props and costumes for a acadamic course rather than something that will re-pay me in the end etc So I started planning on smaller scale things than the ideas I had popping up in my head of re-enacting Napoleonic battles with futuristic weapons etc For example, here was a shoot I did with LEGO, but my teacher told me that if I wanted to carry on with seriousness, I shouldn't use LEGO. But then again, the rest of the class told me that its a good idea because the Art Technician even helped me set up the shoot and she said she had fun with it, she was facinated by all the new parts that had been made since she used to use it as a child. Basically my ideas I have at the moment with help from my girlfriend, include: If America was invaded by the Soviet Union If gangsters of the 1920's-1930's like Baby Face Nelson and Al Capone, didn't have the firepower of Tommy Guns and BAR's If Britain lost the Battle of Britain and Germany invaded Britain If the past had our present technology, not only just weapondry but also general everyday technology, for example, mobile phones etc Re-enact paintings but change weapons Re-enact things and change the outcome, as in, dont make it on sided We act like we won the war, but in real life a metorite did Cavemen with todays technology, for example, a laptop and tv But can you think of any other ideas? Have you ever wanted to try any ideas of Alternate Histories? Thanks!

I was just looking up NASA and Space related photography on Wikipedia when I came across this on the Juno spacecrafts page: "The spacecraft also carries three LEGO figurines representing Galileo, the Roman god Jupiter and his wife Juno. In Roman mythology, Jupiter drew a veil of clouds around himself to hide his mischief. From Mount Olympus, Juno was able to look into the clouds and reveal her husband's real nature. Juno holds a magnifying glass as a sign for searching for the truth and her husband holds a lightning bolt. The third LEGO crew member, Galileo Galilei, has his telescope with him on the journey. Although most LEGO toys are made of plastic, LEGO made these figures of aluminium to endure the extreme conditions of space flight." I wonder, why Lego? If they had to make them aluminium in order to cope the conditions, why choose LEGO as the toy rather than...I don't know...GI Joe? What do you guys think? I just thought it was rather interesting, sorry if It's already been posted.

Sabaton - The Final Solution.

I bought that set, its not bad quality at all really. I used the hull for a MOC and no one knew any better. It's a brilliant set for the money if you just want a bit of fun but don't want to pay the dumb prices for a original scratched BSB.

You know what would be a good item to see next? A rifle stylized after the Kar98k.

BrickArms 2011: August Release!
Joey Lock replied to the enigma that is badger's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I do agree Mythos with the point about turning off, I've began looking at the new customisers coming out, Minifig.cat, Brickforge, Tiny Tatical etc And they seem to churn out Brickarms quality weapondry at a fraction of the time without needing a year long prototype stage, I think instead of Will producing a prototype for every single gun design people ask for, he should take the top 3 most hot topics on the prototype forum and choose those to work on, rather than producing a prototype for say, the E-11 Stormtrooper blaster thats already been released by another customiser dedicated to the Star Wars line, and work on the weapons people have been waiting for, for ever. I do see people buying a few from Brickfairs, but Brickfairs seem to be US based. And I'm not spending hundreds of pounds to fly to America in order to spend another £20-40 on prototypes, then flying back over and finding out the prototype has been completely re-designed into something amazing. I'm not having a moan, I'm just saying, we get promises that 'Brickarms will be churning out items at a faster pace than ever before seen in the entire living history of the humongous universe' but we never see these fast paces, or the 'eventual mass production'. I mean, The Grease gun has been produced by Brickforge already, and I never saw a thread for the ARC that was more popular than the Kar98k which is wanted by so many WWII Mocers, The ARC is similar to guns already made by Tiny Tatical, Minifig.Cat and other various customisers. I think you should keep to the already created prototypes that have been out for at least a month or two, since those are the ones we want. Theres no point producing hundreds of tests if you never get round to the real thing. Again, Not moaning. -
Heres a better angle:

Still no Kar98k? -

Now he might be associated with the Nazi's but I think Albert Speers designs for the 'Greater Germany' were very interesting, the only one he managed to complete was the 'New Reich Chancellery' Or something like the Volkshalle: Would be very interesting even though I'm sure they wouldn't make a set cause of the connections.

I've recently decided to begin purchasing uniforms rather than planning what to buy, it's about time I spent some money on them, rather than 'window shopping' at events like I usually do. I decided during the War & Peace show that I had a list of items to find. They were: PPSH-41 De-activated - Under £150 if possible Nazi SS Armband Iron Cross 1st Class Knights cross of the iron cross Denix Walther P38 SS Dagger Visor Cap or M35 Stahelm Pilotka In the end, I bought a Pilotka, M43 Gymnastiorka, Obr40 Steel Helmet, Sharovari Trousers and German Officer Boots. Basically, an entire late war soviet uniform to match my de-activated Mosin Nagant. I got the gymnastriorka and sharovari trousers deal for about £30 cheaper than it was selling for as we spoke to the seller, who was Slovenian, it was full of soviet army surplus, and since I only had £55 on me, he decided to let me have it for that when it was originally £89 for both 'Since it's last day, I let you have these for £55, enjoy, I see you know your stuff about history' and then he went on to describe the years these uniforms were used, who by, all information on them, really friendly guy, I hope to see him again next year, I want a Telogreika! Anyhow, too my point. I've recently decided to purchase a correct German officers uniform reproduction, I originally was going to buy cheap East German officers gabardine uniforms and convert them to a M34 styled Officers open collar tunic, but realised it'd not look accurate enough, even though it was merely planned for a photography project I am working on for my A Levels about 'Alternate History' but thats another story. Anyway, I decided that maybe my mother was right, I should have saved the money I spent on the Soviet militaria, for German, since it was my more interested field, but I guess the idea and excitement that I'd have a complete uniform with weapon got the best of me. Anyway, I found a cheap German officers uniform reproduction for £64.99, including Tunic and Breeches, I thought it was too good to be true, being Ebay, but nope, their a legitimate seller. Then, I came across another seller, who I originally was going to purchase the Visor Cap from, who I realised, sold Gabardine German Officers Uniforms, but more expensive. Gabardine is a smooth fabric, not that itchy, wooly feel that wool obviously gives off, its a more 'suit' feel too it, looks more expensive because it is much more expensive But now I am stuck between the two. Do I purchase the 'Officers Field Uniform' which is the wool version, less dressy, because its supposed to have seen action. Or, do I purchase the Gabardine Officers Uniform, and get a more dressy, snazzy, clean feel but for a hefty price? The Gabardine Uniform, including Tunic, Breeches and Cap, come too £150 including the shipping from China which is annoying. Or the Wool Version, costing £64.99, + £9.99 shipping from Glasgow, and the cap costing about £25. I still would have to buy the correct insignia, the belt, buckle, P38 holster and P38 replica pistol, which added on is costly too but I guess I could buy those overtime, It's just, do I invest in a Gabardine Uniform? Or do I buy the Wool uniform as a part-time uniform? Or is the wool just better? I can't make up my mind! Help from my fellow History enthusiasts? Thanks!

A Ushanka (Fur Hat), I'm suprised Brickforge or Minifig.cat hasn't taken the chance to create one, it'd be a big seller! Closest I know is Woody64's customs, they can be expensive, not woodys fault, shapeways fault, but still, they'll need some painting but they work!

I'm back! I've recently lost interest in Eurobricks and 'foruming' due to my way of life, I had my A Levels a few months back and have had personal things to do recently, so I never got back into posting. I have two major Lego projects I wish to work on, but money is of object, meaning, these projects won't be coming anytime soon because of more important things to use the money on, eg SS Officers uniform for re-enacting + photography course, The photography itself, de-activated or replica weapons to add to my collection, gifts for my girlfriend, clothes etc Also, most projects I work on at this time in my life end up recycled into new MOC's cause of the room and expense to finish it, so these will wait till later. I think I'll be back to nosing around the place but most posts I see are of new sets I'm not interested in or could afford judging by how steep Lego prices are now, JCC1004 has a point, Everything I liked is discontinued. Now if they make TinTin Lego for the upcoming movie, I'm in for that. If not, meh. I want war lego, battles. Not very expensive custom lego pieces that some customisers say takes them a long time therefore the steep price is there, when really, Amazing Armoury, for what you get, isn't worth the price. £4 for a cap that is the same as the new $1 brickforge one. Anyway, enough of my ranting. I'm back and kicking.

Now it might just be me being a accuracy nazi, excuse the pun, but I'd say to go with a different torso. You see, the units who wore the 'black uniform' as people usually say were Nazi Officers, were in fact, Allgemeine-SS Officers, Hitlers bodyguard. They were never sent to the Russian front or Normandy to fight our British troops. Also, the tunic would be wrong anyhow, the Allgemeine SS tunic, the M32 tunic, was open collar, they never wore silly scarfs or ascots, also the belts were usually black with the SS Officers belt buckle, I'd say try decals. But for a first attempt, go for it! EDIT: Yes, I am a nerd I know.

Well what makes you proud to be British? Bar fights over premier league players who aren't British? Builders burping and saying "Sorry love, this is gonna take a arm an a leg to finish, gonna have to come back in two weeks" after you paid them and never returning? Made in Essex? Waterloo Road? Old Britain was the best.

What makes me proud to be British? No other country in the world could have the sheer genius for such comedy.

Great Britihs Comedy! Love it! Except for the Samurai who sounds like he has been bricked in the privates a few times
