Marvel Superheroes 2025 - Rumors & Discussion
SEmrys replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I haven't been keeping up with the rumours recently so this wave was a nice surprise. The Bugle looks great. Honestly part of me thinks it's a bit more aesthetically pleasing than the D2C. It doesn't have the size or the figure count, obviously, but it's a very nice design for what it is. That Mysterio figure is the best one so far, and I like the Rhino mech too. I do have the D2C so I won't be getting this, but I'll be keeping an eye out for Rhino and Mysterio. I love that Lego are bringing out all these great new designs for Spider-Man villains. Just a shame we have that dumb Captain Venom rather than Electro or someone actually desirable. It's getting weird at this point. The Sandman set is very cool, and I desperately want those villain figures too. Do I want the larger set? It's nice, but not really. However for the price it'll probably be cheaper to just buy it rather try and scour the scalper-ridden second hand market, so I appreciate what Lego have done here. Really hope this leads to a Raimi Goblin set. Similarly, The Hulkbuster looks great. I've always wanted one. Never bought one. This might be the time I finally commit. Love the 'Epic Moment's action scene too. May try and build that into my city rather than on the black stand. And arm printing! What a blessing. I'll repeat, I hope this sub line leads to a Raimi Goblin set. Ghost Rider I'm of two minds about. Dirt cheap which I love. I'm a bit back and forth on the bike. I see the clown complaints but honestly I like what they've done with the face. I already have the old GR figure though so I'm open to them mixing it up here. My GR is currently riding a heavily modded Battinson bike, so this is a maybe. Car vs Wolverine. If I was a bit more forgiving I could probably comment on the build quality or something but I'm not so I won't even look. Silly set. Kids may enjoy it, but I'll never understand why we get all these Spider-cars (and none of them the Spider-mobile at a reasonable price) when there are so many vehicles Lego could use in the Marvel Universe. Expecting my first soon so maybe I'll ask the kid when they're old enough, but for now it escapes me. I mean the Fantastic Four is fresh in people's minds. Just do a Fantasticar or something. Wolvenom may be better than Captain Venom, but he's equally unnecessary. Buildable Iron Man is nicely done but I don't really go for those sets. -
LEGO Star Wars Set Discussion 2025 - READ FIRST POST!!!
SEmrys replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
What's most curious to me is that even if it is round rather than rectangular, going off those measurements it can't even be a perfect split down the center as the depth isn't quite half of the width or the height, right? And if there is a stand like some of the basic drawings suggested, how does that work on a less-than-half a sphere? When this was first rumoured I dismissed it as something I would never buy. But more recently I've been considering selling off some sets and spent the day before yesterday and yesterday morning considering getting rid of them and replacing them with this. One big set, sat on the end of my desk instead of multiple others taking up space and storage. Then the news came out bit by bit and that idea quickly evaporated. Oh well. -

Saw the film last night. Enjoyed it! And there is really so much you could turn into a set. It's also made me more conflicted about the set we do have. Because I want it. But I also don't want to spend £50 on a set where the figures are what they are, and there's no Silver Surfer. -
Marvel Superheroes 2025 - Rumors & Discussion
SEmrys replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I didn't see the Iron Man set at first, so first impression were that this wave is amazing! And now I have seen it... Honestly, still amazing, I just don't care about that set. IMO, when they've not got a movie to promote (let's just try and forget Thunderbolts is out today) this is exactly what I think the Lego Marvel theme should be. Oscorp has exceeded expectations. Some repeats, sure, but a bunch of new characters that actually look like who they're meant to. Ultimate Green Goblin is such a surprise - actually makes me glad we're getting ANOTHER Green Goblin (loving USM and was pondering how to make a purist not so long ago). I think it's so cool that they've actually delivered on what a bunch of people have been clamouring for modular wise (a multi-building Marvel set) even if it's not at the desired scale. Trying to fit these three buildings into my little modular city will be a challenge I enjoy if ever I get this. I just appreciate that you can buy this one set and you'll already have a bunch of play scenes to enact across the different buildings with different characters (or display). Peter's apartment is cool too, although I thought the rumours were that it would connect to the top of the Bodega. Still, it's a fun little set, good character selection (bar Anti-Venom) and regardless of whether I get it I'm glad it's out there for kids and adults alike. New Doc Ock looks spectacular, I think. So much better than the NWH version. I usually dislike the new tentacles they come up with but I think this may be the best yet. The train is a nice looking build as well. Honestly, I was expecting the Quinjet to be something I'm not interested in as I prefer the SHIELD design, but I think that looks great as well. A really good translation. As for the figures... It's got the same type of design (no helmet) but it is new, the faceprint is the MCU design. And I think it looks solid! Better than the original ones, even without the extra piece. Quicksilver looks great too, which I originally thought would be the only reason I'd be interested in this set. Heck, even the 4+ set looks good to me. The goofy little Gauntlet ship is fun and we've got another comic (ish) Captain America figure, which I always appreciate. They just need to continue to make him lighter so we can stick some dual moulded arms on him without it looking jarring. As for the Iron Man set.. again, don't really care. But I'm on enough of a high from the other sets that it doesn't change my overall rating. Overall (kind of TL;DR): This wave impresses me on two fronts. As a long time Marvel fan and collector, I appreciate that we're getting new varied sets, and as a LEGO fan, I appreciate that they're delivering good quality sets that are creative, yet relevant, that kids will be able to have a lot of fun... ...assuming they and their parents haven't been priced out. -

I have such mixed feelings about this. I really like Galactus, but those figures may be the first ones where I feel compelled to look to the inevitable custom (Firestar most likely) updates. I can probably live with Sue, and I have some spare old Strange hair pieces for Reed and also don't really like the Ms. marvel arms, but I really don't like the big hands for Ben and think some sort of new Baymax-esque arms should have been used to widen him out. Fingers crossed that flame on Johnny will come with the Doomsday sets. -

Same, very excited for the set and the film. Especially curious to see how Mr Fantastic will look. Regular figure, Ms Marvel arms, some sort of brick-built system? I hope the first or third options personally. -

That was indeed who I was referring to. It's getting a lot more interesting now though! Definitely excited for where this seems to be going. And as @DaredevilFan says, the minifigure potential is huge. I was excited about the idea of the Thunderbolts and now they're just a distant memory haha. -

I thought it was ridiculous and also very boring at first but like you I put it on in the background while working and I've started to get into it haha. Although I'm finished working now so don't know if I'll leave it on for much longer. The second to last name that came on intrigued me though. -

Marvels currently revealing the Doomsday cast (extremely slowly)*. How many of these do you all think we'll get in the Doomsday wave? *Although at the rate it's going it's probably too soon to say with any certainty. -
LEGO Pokémon 2026 - Rumours & Discussion
SEmrys replied to BrickBob Studpants's topic in LEGO Licensed
The video does seem to lean towards larger brick built Pokemon but I'd like to see this too. You could get a lot of mileage out of larger brick built legendaries alongside location sets. Minifigure scale mini build Pokemon would also be fun too but I guess it just depends how many new parts they'd pump into it to make them look effective. Saying that though when I was a kid I used to make minifigure sized Pokemon. They were obviously vet blocky but a kids imagination bridges that gap. -
Marvel Superheroes 2025 - Rumors & Discussion
SEmrys replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
My main hopes were for Jessica Drew and at least one variant with printed regular Spider-Man legs (like the Sanctum ones but with the comic book blue) that I could stick on a regular figure but it is what it is. I won't be getting any of these but I am interested to see how 2099 turns out. Will he have the big bracer blade things? Is there any Lego precedent for that? -
Marvel Superheroes 2025 - Rumors & Discussion
SEmrys replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I was reminded of the Baymax arms the other day. I think if they were inverted (so the thicker parts on the top) that could give him the necessary bulk. But not expecting it obviously. I share the disappointment about the lack of Thunderbolts sets though. I love the CA series (haven't seen the new one though) but when it comes to figures I'd much rather have the Thunderbolts than a weirdly designed Sam. -

You're almost certainly right but for me it would have been the main draw Especially cause you could then double up and make a purist Harry. Also, I don't think anyone's mentioned it, and it's not a big deal, but is it just me or is it a bit weird that Peter Parker's apartment doesn't feature... Peter Parker? Like, out-of-costume. Oscorp features Norman and the Goblin, after all. I imagine at very least they'll give him an unmasked head like the Bodega characters. Then again, I suppose the last Peter Parker apartment didn't either, but that was semi-movie based. -

Grateful that we're finally getting Kraven but it's a real shame they're not leaning more into the villains you'd associate with Oscorp. Obviously Green Goblin's a must, but Venom? Again? It's not surprising, just disappointing. Still, holding out hope that the Osborn waves make an appearance. Hopefully Gwen Stacy is a little more on point than the Bugle version as well. -

I got a bit too hung up on size in my earlier posts but I agree with all of this. If they incorporated more posability, gave their poor thighs a break and changeable parts the size would be more palatable. I'd still rather some middle option, but it would be a step in the right direction. -
Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

I think the math stuff (which was just me going on a tangent really) kind of undermined my point. I also don't want a (regular) minifigure Thing (or Hulk, etc), and I also don't think Lego needs to make every character height specific. What I mean is I was agreeing with @poisonbricks that I don't think bigfigs are the optimal design, and wish there was an alternate design (that looks like a sized up minifigure) that would be more in keeping with Lego's other products and, if it was smaller than a bigfig, would be able to be used for a wider range of characters (like the Thing, Kingpin, Colossus, Venom). Not a Axl-esque midfig, but a new thing. Some might think that some of those characters, wouldn't look good as minifigures, but then conversely might not look right as bigfigs either. Although given the choice between a midfig and a minifig, for those characters, I would take the midfig. Hopefully that makes more sense but I fear I've just thrown another jumbled message at you. Edit/TL;DR - I thought about it a bit more and to put it more simply: Hulk and Thing work as big figs. But I don't think other characters (Kingpin, She-Hulk, Colossus etc) would work as well. But if you had a sized down option, smaller than a big fig, bigger than a minifig (other than the current midfig) that would work for all of the above. I wish we had that. -
Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
SEmrys replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think there needs to be something but I agree that big figs aren't the best solution imo. I don't love their static nature or the fact that they lose some of that Lego charm with their inability to change parts (although tbf that is starting to change slightly). As for the height, if Hulk is 8'2 and according to a quick search a minifigure represents someone approximately 5'6 tall, then essentially he should be just under 1.5x the size of a regular minifigure (1.46 to be a little more precise but my math may be wrong). I like it when the Thing is depicted as bigger than his 6' comic height but based on the above and the fact the Hulk is oversized you're not wrong. I hope that one day they make an actual bigger (but smaller than big figs) minifigure but that's probably not going to happen. but it would be a nice middle ground that gives everyone the big Thing they want and sizes the Hulk down to a more appropriate size. Tl;dr - I agree with you. -

That's such an obvious one! Not sure why I didn't think of it. Considering the initial No Way Home wave, if this CMF doesn't end up featuring many villains I wouldn't be surprised if we got at least one or two of these, maybe around the release of Beyond, now that Spider-Verse sets are actually a thing. The Collider could also feature a bunch of items being warped, which would make for a more visually interesting set. -

SEmrys replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm not really arguing for or against the CMF here but this just made me think about what you could make from the SV films. I reckon they could come up with a fair few sets. Green Goblin's big enough to be a mech/surtur-esque set. Peni Parker's robot. Aunt May's house with the spider base and/or Sinister Six attack. The Collider. Alchemax, maybe? Probably a fair few things from Across but I can't remember it well enough to say anything definitively (something from the Spider-Base and Spider-Man India's reality, perhaps?) Some of those may sound like generic buildings on the face of it but the one set we do/will have is the Bodega. Maybe that's just me wanting more buildings though! -

I mean, you've kind of answered your own question there, with Agatha anyway. People seem to have responded well to it (the two posters prior to you, and the one they're quoting both said it was one of the best TV shows Marvel Studios has put out) and it's carrying on a story from one of their other popular shows. The Marvels is a sequel to the character Marvel was trying to push as their premiere female hero. They make some odd choices, sure. And not all of it is great. But if they don't take some risks or make some outside the box choices sometimes then we wouldn't have had things like Guardians of the Galaxy (or, arguably, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Ant-Man and so on). As for Thunderbolts, I was disappointed by the roster initially but that looks like it could be one of the better things they put out next year. And the Avengers didn't start off with their classic roster either so who knows. -

SEmrys replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
True, I said something similar a page or two back. I wouldn't want that either. I just think there's potential in a classic Spider-Man CMF done right. Obviously a Goblin and Venom filled CMF isn't that interesting. Unfortunately I don't find the idea of a CMF full of Spider-variants that interesting either. -
Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
SEmrys replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think a generic Spider-Man series is what people meant. At least, it's what I meant. If it does feature a bunch of villains I'll be more on board. Although do CMFs often have larger-than-minifigure-sized characters? (Genuinely asking I've only ever really paid attention to the superhero ones) I'd be happy with a minifigure Kingpin but I don't think it would do that version of the character justice. Plus, he's not in his iconic outfit so a minifigure would only have the head to really make it seem like Fisk. -

Yeah I'm a little torn on this. A comic CMF would be cool but knowing TLG half spots would be taken up by Venom, Carnage, Green Goblin etc. Spider-Man has always been my favourite comic character and I love the first Spider-Verse movie but I dont have much interest in a whole CMF series based on these movies specifically. However, it does make me hopeful we might finally get a comic-adjacent Spider-Man with (at least partially) printed boots (surely one of the variants will have them), like the Sanctum figure. A Miles based on the first movie would be cool too. -

Until coming in here it didn't even occur to me that it could have been Anya tbh. I also wonder if this is meant to be their way of doing Madame Web set, a la the Morbius set. I know in the movie it's the Cassandra Webb Madame Web, but it's the Julia Carpenter looks she's wearing (at least, in the promo material, I never bothered with the movie), plus of course, the actual Julia Carpenter (/Cornwall) appearance. -
Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
SEmrys replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I still like the set but I'm a little torn seeing it next to the other modulars. I agree with SolidBrix though that it does look cool to see them all together. I was thinking of putting it round the corner from the Sanctum so it's still a part of the Marvel city but not in line with the rest*. Maybe that will make the size difference less noticeable? Although until someone shows it off in anything other than a straight line I suppose we won't know how good that looks. * So Bugle, Peter's apartment (old Sanctum), new Sanctum on the corner, X-Mansion round the corner. I don't have the Avengers Tower but that could Tower over from behind if I ever get it.
