  1. This is my new moc of a medieval tavern with inn. It was created to be presented together with the 21325 LEGO Medieval Blacksmith. In order to stay as close as possible to the blacksmith's style, I had to borrow some of the building techniques and optical elements that were used in the blacksmith, especially in the roof area. In general the Medieval Tavern moc nevertheless is a completely independent construction. On the ground floor there is the tavern and a kitchen with an open cooking area. In the kitchen, mostly vegetarian food is prepared, since meat was a luxury item in the Middle Ages - contrary to what is often shown. I couldn't help putting some meat on the table, since these clichés simply must not be missing in a medieval tavern. In return, I kept the lighting as close as possible to reality and didn't use candles, but tried to build oil lamps. There are two guest bedrooms on the first floor. I also tried to keep them simple and, in my opinion, even deviated from reality upwards. In fact, for the mostly not affluent guests, there were only straw beds rather than real beds. A straw bed can be found in the attic, in addition to some stuff, which could be stored there, and a clothesline plus laundry basket. The matching wash tub is down behind the building. In the back corner of the attic a giant spider has moved in. There it guards a small treasure, which is located behind the chimney. Of course I have again created some building instructions for the moc, which you can find here: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-72838/ More pictures can be found following the link to rebrickable or on flickr: This way Medieval Tavern by Versteinert, auf Flickr Medieval Tavern by Versteinert, auf Flickr Medieval Tavern by Versteinert, auf Flickr
  2. @DazzzyFirst of all, I don't think that I'm more talented as you are. I only had more luck in the contest ;) You found the right word to describe your car. It is charming. And yes, it is more charming than the wider version, maybe because of it's small size. Regarding my own classic car: This isn't a secret ;) I own this one for about 15 years now and discussed it quite intensively in a classic cars forums in the past as well (if you should ever search for a german speaking classic car forum, then try out forum.hecktrieb.de ;) ). It's a 1972 Ford Taunus Coupé. Stylistic this hasn't much in common with 50s US cars, but of course my interests also reach out to these older american cars.
  3. Thank you very much for your words :)
  4. @jimimThen you should hurry up. It'll for sure not last long till the next great sets show up ;) @4beeNice to hear. Are they settled next to each other? Can you easily see their relationship?
  5. This was the original name of the moc that the 40448 vintage car is based on. Or do you mean where the word Aedelsten came from? This is a creation of mine. I took the danish (ædelsten) and swedish (ädelsten) word for gemstone and made it a bit more writable ;) I chose gemstone as name to underline the deluxe classification of the car.
  6. Shame on me. I never answered on this thread. I'm really sorry :( Thank you all very much. I'm glad you like the car. @street87I guess the mudguards don't exist in dark blue. If you have any pics of the Aedelsten with the swords, I would like to see them. That could really look great @JintaiZI have to disappoint you. The steering is fake. The wheels are stuck in this position and I even had to change the angle-point of the attachement to create this look, so you even are not able to "turn" them manually left or right.
  7. Sorry for my late reply. Thank you all. @jimimActually I built this alternate of the Corner Garage because I didn't like the original set either. Have I written this before? - no, I don't think so.. :) @SvendpFor now I'm not planning to build alternates for these two sets since they both are art nouveau buildings (or at least they are what I think it's art nouveau ;) ) and for to build something different from them, I had to build a later building style and therefore something that I personally don't like very much ;)
  8. Thanks. @Bornin1980somethingThe new element would not fit in the front of the Aedelsten. It only fits in the front of Santa's car because of the other grille I used. The front of the Aedelsten only has space for some one-plate-thick element.
  9. Seems like I haven't looked into this forum for too long, since I missed this thread. This was one of my absolute favourites in the contest. And you definitely would have deserved to win the contest, too. You managed to combine the 50s style with a great and innovative feature in a unique and imo mainly new way. Your entry could have been some kind of a prototype or concept car in the 1950s. Although your approx 7 studs wide version is also great, I like the original 6 studs wide version better. And actually I think the small wheels fit the car very well.
  10. Since there was a police car missing in the new LEGO 10278 Police Station I had to design one that - in my opinion - fits well to it. This one is not a cheap copy of Santas car, but actually Santa stole his car from both, the poor late 50s police officer (and repainted it in classic christmas colors) and the red Aedelsten version I built about one year ago. As I built Santas car, this police car was already fully planned and I only was waiting for some parts to complete it. I again created building instructions for this one (with other wheels), available at rebrickable. Classic Police Car by Versteinert, auf Flickr Classic Police Car by Versteinert, auf Flickr
  11. Finally I was able to shoot a better pic of my original version to compare it to the final set ;) Unfortunately, the original version was way too unstable at some sections to not being changed. It is ok for putting it in a display, but you wouldn't be able to play with it at all - at least if you don't want to end up very frustrated... @Shiva@AndreMW Yes, the surfboard is only attached with one stud. This doesn't last much longer than the time that was necessary for taking the photo ;) Aedelsten Deluxe by Versteinert, auf Flickr
  12. Thank you all very much :) @adwind the round tile is stuck on a plate 1x1 round with center hole, which is stuck on a plate 1x1 round with bar as axle. The tile and the plate together form the rim for the old tire. This construction works well for a photography but it doesn't work at all for cruising ;)
  13. Thank you both :) @Greshi210 I think more important than being talented is having patience ;)
  14. Thank you both :) @koalayummies Actually the weird binocular-looking thing is the better binocular for headlights. After submitting my Aedelston to the gwp contest, I learned that the ordinary binoculars don't fit exactly in the brick/plate system. The binoculars are slightly higher than a plate, while these new binocular-style parts are exactly two plates high which makes them better to include them as headlights in a "legal" way.
  15. @BrickfordCityFire thanks :)
  16. @ReplicaOfLife thanks :)
  17. Thank you all very much. This was kind of an impulse build, so I used some ideas I already used before. The rubberband-idea came from some christmas-moc I saw last year. Unfortunately I cannot tell anymore, from whom this was. The ice skate and the soft ice bricks came from my Aedelston moc, that I also have build about a year ago. Btw the soft ice brick isn't supposed to be a headlight but some part of the front bumpers ;) The whitewall tires are made with 3139 and 11209. The tile 1x1 round with log print I think I ordered by bricklink somewhen, but I don't know where it came from originally ;)

  19. Thank you :) Yes. This is definitely the advantage of alternate builds. They may be a little less detailed (due to the limited parts) but you don't have to spend a long time looking for the parts, but you only have to buy one original set, which is usually even cheaper.
  20. Thank you all very much :) Thanks. Actually I first started to build the whole building around those window sidings. And the thing with the mod and the moc I never fully understood. For me this isn't a mod at all, since there isn't anything left of the original building ;)
  21. The positive feedback to my alternate build of the Old Fishing Store gave me the motivation to try a second alternate build. This time I built with the parts from the LEGO 10264 Corner Garage. I used 2322 of the 2545 pieces of the Corner Garage, counted without minifigures/animals. Of course, I again created some building instructions. You can find them in following this link: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-53879 / The building is designed to either fit the end of a row of modular houses or as usual between two of them. If it is placed between two houses, the staircase becomes a narrow alley, as it often can be found in old towns. 10264 Corner Garage - alternate build by Versteinert, auf Flickr Besides the pub, the building contains some arcade machines on the ground level, an appartment with appartment-stuff on the first floor and a sewing room on the second floor. I tried to build something as different as possible to the original set. Since the basic idea was to build a modular house, I coudn't change this fact. So I had to get 100% rid of the garage topic and even found a new use for the scooter and the garage sign in the arcade machines.
  22. Of course I can. Actually, it shows that my instructions work ;) link to the video I'd like to leave a comment under the video but unfortunately the videographer has turned off the comment section.
  23. Thanks :) @Redhead1982The boulevard with the other modular buildings could end in an old harbour. Perhaps I should design the fitting harbour pub next :) In a facebook Lego group a user had the idea, my moc could fit into a scene from H.P. Lovecraft. He thought of a video game set in such a scene, but I instantly thought of Innsmouth :) @electropieAfter reading your comment, I wondered what others may write about the moc. So I searched for it on google and I found a speedbuilt video of my moc on youtube
  24. Thanks again :) @zulfadli2112I'm glad you like it so much. And yes, I hope this was not my last b-model ;) @SvendpSeems I was too slow. I just took some (not very good) pictures of the house next to the dusty detective's office. But as you already are building the model yourself, I think you don't need them anymore ;)
  25. Thank you guys :) @paupadros It was one of my goals to create something as different as possible. That's why I used the "brick-bricks" to build about half of the front of the house. As a result I had to include tons of sand green tiles on other sections of the moc ;) @Agent 86 Yes, these are only parts of the original Old Fishing Store. @JonathanM Thanks a lot. This really means much to me. I don't have much experiences with fan instructions - neither made by others nor made by me. So it's especially nice to hear that my instructions are in any way well made :)
