Well, I fear they are not. You know, impulse sets are 5613, 5614, 5615 and so on, while these 53xx sets seem to be something different :-/ . Moreover, the pics we saw recently are something like twice the size of impulse boxes, so they seem to be simple small Castle sets, even if they have similar instruction booklets. Yet, I can be totally wrong :-$ . LuxorV
