I don't have the WV christmas market with carousel, but it is for sale at a reasonable price on Aliexpress. Does anyone have experience of buying from them? They also have the WV station at a much more reasonable price. The long delivery time is not a problem at this time of year, and I am running out of things to add to my village. It needs more... and having done some research by looking at other winter village sets - lit up ones in ceramic - the obvious set which is missing is the ski rental chalet.

They won't do a church - secular buildings only. A market place would be nice and a bookshop would be perfect. You might get a ski lodge instead.

I'd vote bakery due to the size - it fits in better, and I love the little cart. You could bricklink a small cottage equivalent more easily - or a ski lodge or mountain hut. Not keen on the igloo. The sets I don't have are the market/carousel which is too expensive now for me to justify and besides I only really like the carousel, and the station, which I am still holding out on due to the exploitative UK price. I am mainly looking to sort out the base plates, lighting and landscaping this year - this is the year I need to learn how to do proper snow effect. I am currently sourcing large white base plates.

Love this layout - lots of little vignettes of things going on in a busy little village. I like how you have built it in sections. Can I ask where you got the large base plates from?

Happy building! That is the same as the one I have gone for. I have all the bricks now and I am ready to build. This year too I will be having the street lights, buildings and christmas trees all lit up with LEDs. Still resisting the station box.

There are 3 or 4 church plans with a set of building instructions and, most useful, a list of bricks which you can import straight into Bricklinks, and it will come up with either the cheapest purchasing option or the fewest sources to achieve your full parts. So what you need next is a school. There - next year's WV option is now sorted. I have still not given in to the temptation to buy even at silly price. Have ordered a church via Bricklink and will put that in, but the shopper in me wants to buy it.

You should complain. I made a complaint directly to Lego, and their reply was (taking all the padding out and paraphrasing) that they will charge what they think they can get away with in each country.

Even taking the drop in the £ into account, it is a ridiculous price hike. We are paying £75 (rounded) which equates to 81 Euros. Germany and Belgium are paying just 70 Euros (again, rounded). Why do we have to pay 11 Euros more? This is not peanuts. It is quite ridiculous. There are no extra fees put on imported goods from either Sweden or the EU. The UK Vat is 20%. German Vat is 19%. There is no excuse.

Not happy with the price hike specifically for the UK/ Is it some kind of Brexit punishment? Have asked Lego to explain.

Originally posted in wrong place. Not sure about the style. I think I like my Village more Alpine and less Rockies. Will still buy it though and maybe alter it to fit. I like the rail crossing - solves the obvious problem with the train track running round half the village. I might make the tower into a village clock tower.

Hi all, I am sure I was registered years ago, but have re-registered anyhow. Have followed the site for a really long time. Cannot wait for the 2017 WV release. How soon do WV people start setting up? I might have to build a church if the release isn't good enough.
