  1. Thank you very much! I'm glad the details are appreciated! I've been working on adding more of those to my builds to make them more interesting. Of course we deal with pirates of all stations; let the word spread that the coward Bluebeard abandoned his men to the gallows! Thank you! The doors took some time to figure out actually, since I was almost out of bricks at that point. The judge has to look down on everyone to show where authority lies. Thanks very much! That is some consolation I guess, and you're more than welcome Thank you very much! Thank you! I've started to appreciate them more as well, this is a build I probably would never have done had not the MRCA happend. I'm glad you think so! Indeed, it took quite some planning and redoing to make everything fit. I actually wanted it to feel a bit full and tight despited being a large room. Thanks, I've been working on adding more details to my builds, so I'm glad it worked! I'm quite proud of it myself. Thank you very much! The details took some time to figure out but I'm happy they worked in the end. If you look at pictures they chairs and podium are actually quite large in real life as well. And the baldaquin is to represent the authority of the Crown through the judge. But, of course, I neither confirm nor deny anything about this particular judge Thank you! It took some research to find everything needed and some planning to fit it in so I'm happy it looks proper! Thanks very much! It was a bit of a challenge actually, especially at times when it appreared that I have fewer of even fairly normal bricks than expected, but I'm quite proud of how it turned. Also happy that I can get by without the fancy parts since I don't have that many!
  2. A trial resulting from the victory against the pirate raids last turn is proceeding in the King's Harbour Courthouse.
  3. During the last months, King's Harbour has continued to suffer pirate raids. Fortunatley for its citizens, the town's defences are proving quite effective. The latest attack, lead by the dreaded Captain Bluebeard, was a glorious victory for HM Navy. Two of the pirate ships, Blue Dagger and Blue Blood, were captured by the Corlanders and the rest only barely escaped. Naturally, most of the crew from those vessels were captured as well, and now it was finally time to stand trial. As one of the Crown's most important colonies and seat of the New Terra Fleet it is necessary that King's Harbour should have a proper courthouse. The proceedings are led by well educated magistrates sent from the Homeland to uphold law and justice in the Colonies. To their left sits the jury, picked from among the most prominent citizens of King's Harbour. To be judged by ones peers is one of the oldest Corlander rights, stipulated in the Magna Carta itself. Everything that occurs during trials is meticulously recorded by the court clerks. The defendant's bench is locades opposite to the judge, and is currently occupied by some of the pirates arrested on Bluebeard's ships. The prosecution's prime witness is Lieutenant Lawliet Lavendwood, who commanded the squardron of ships that defeated the pirates. The proceedings are gathering a large crowd. Townsfolk eager to see the pirates sentenced and hanged for attempting to attack their homes and commit even more unthinkable actions. The trials are conducted quickly, as the defendants were captured in the act, and capital punishment sentenced liberally. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ This is the result from my sigfigs victory outside King's Harbour this round. It was really fun building a courtroom, particularly trying to fit in all the details. I can admit that I had a lot of inspiration from the court scene from the fourth PoC movie. We'll see if I'll do a scene of the hangings as well. Will be licenced as a medium Arts and culture. C&C is, as always, appreciated. If anybody is interested in the moc without all the figs:
  4. A fantastic little ship! I'm particularly impressed by the hull, as I often find them hard to build with a natural shape at sizes that small. And as others have said you've done a very good job with adding details that bring the whole ship to life! My favourite is probably the figurehead, something to strike fear into the hearts of peaceful traders!
  5. You don't have to take away my glory, maybe the captain and his few choice men made all of the difference
  6. A very good write up that's well worth the wait! And what an exciting time to live! I must say that I'm impressed that my Western Wind II, with G0, C0 and H0 managed to not only escape, but capture a pirate ship. I suspect the Blazer did most of the heavy lifting @Bregir. Also happy that my sigfig achieve more success, again fighting off pirate raids! Though my measly 39db don't really compare to Green Winds 1805db. How is that even possible!?
  7. Thank you very much! I'm glad you like the flags! It took some time to figure out how to convert the Corrie flag into lego pieces. Thanks, hopefully they'll ser Her Majesty well! I disagree, the point of warships is that they serve no other purpose. Thereby they gain an advantage over other vessels of the same size/class as they have more points on fighting stats. Regarding troops, I don't think these types of ships are intended for invasions but rather hunting down ships on the seas. For raids we could probably use specialised troop transports or larger ships. Thank you! The blue colour I got from Pirates of the Caribbean, I always loved the British ships and the flags in those movies. I agree that I probably went a little overboard with the Diligence's flag. I don't actually know, but given that they can hold up the sail against the wind I don't think it's a problem. And I from the pictures I've seen that's how, at least the British navy, keept their flags. Thanks very much! I hope they will serve well, just don't get any Sea Rats in their way ! You pathetic fool! He's mine, and you'll never get him back! I will harness his powers to build a fleet to outmatch any on the Brick Seas! Mwuahahahahahahahahaaaa! Hrrrmh...Did I say that? I'm mean, though I will freely admit that I have spent many hours pouring over his builds, that is the only connection to my recent builds. These continuieng accusations border on harrassement, not even the WTCM would believe such preposterous fantasies!
  8. Two more cruisers have been commissioned: HMS Diligence and HMS Greyhound.
  9. HM Royal Navy has commissioned two new war ships: HMS Diligence and HMS Greyhound.
  10. These are uncertain times for the Crown of Corrington. The number of pirates and Sea Rats are increasing and their activities are getting more and more audacious as raids on previously peaceful settlements have become commonplace. Diplomatic schemes by the other great powers are developing: Oleon and Eslandola both have missions on Terraversa and Oleon seems close to forming an alliance with Mardier, which itself is once again turning its attention to the Brick Seas after waking from its slumber. Only a few months ago war was barely prevented between the Sea Rats and Prio and Oleon has recently made power moves by using naval exercises to show off its navy. In response the Crown is launching new vessels to protect its shipping lanes and to stay ahead in this increasing arms race. HMS Diligence is a brig-rigged sloop-of-war based on the previous Wentham-class. However, the sinking of the Wentham exposed a need for additional fire power to combatthe ravers of the Brick Seas. Thus, the Diligence is armed with eighteen 6-pounders as well as two 'long-nines' chasers each at the bow and stern. The hull is made of the finest Corlander oak to withstand heavy fire. To take care of her, the Diligence has a well-drilled crew commanded by experienced officers. She is more than ready to take on any and all enemies of the Crown. HMS Greyhound is the first of a series of small frigates commissioned specifically for the Colonies. She is armed with twenty-four 9-pounders, twenty on the gun deck and four on the quarter deck. Additionally, she has two chasers respectively at the bow and stern. Naturally, she is crewed by the Royal Navy's finest. Both seamen to let her catch up to any prey and a sizable contingent of marines to board enemy vessels. Though their twenty-four guns make the Greyhound-class rated vessels, the guns are still too few to award the ships officially with the status of frigate. Instead, they are studiously refered to as post ships by the Admiralty. This naming convention is not related to the rank of post-captain which is held by all commissioned officer commanding rated vessels. Such as HMS Greyhound's captain, here seen together with the Commodore commanding their squadron. These smaller frigates (post ships, that is) are light enough to catch most raiders in the Colonies, while still carrying enough firepower to bring them to heel. HMS Greyhound is therefore perfectly suited for a pirate hunter. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ So, finally, I get to post these ships! I actually built them months ago, during summer break, but then I couldn't figure out how to deal with custom decals in LDD nor Bluerender. But now it's done! Overall, I'm very happy with both of them. Especially the Greyhound as it is my first attempt at multi-decked vessels. The Diligence, though built from scratch, is obviously a larger version of the Wentham and was therefore surprisingly fast to build. The will be licenced by the Crown as part of the cruisers-initiative, @Bregir. I suggest the following stats: Diligence R4, M4, G5, C4, $0, H4; Greyhound R4, M5, G6, C5, $0, H4. C&C is appreciated, as always!
  11. Thanks! Well we're not giving them away for free. Or are we? Thank you very much! Yeah, I agree the rigging is a pain. Everytime I reach that step it like it's never gonna end. Thank you! Thanks very much! I'm pretty happy with the colours myself, though Bregir build his ship first so he also deserve some of the credit. Why, we would never! I can neither confirm nor deny this outragous statements, but rest assured that you will hear from my lawyer shortly! Well, the SR aren't the only one using those colours on the Brick Seas. I am shocked, shocked I tell you, that any subject of the most esteemed Crown of Oleon would ever believe in the fantasies and derangements of a mad sea rat!
  12. Another official vessel has been launched: the Concord.
  13. In the docks of King's Harbour a new vessel is being launched. It has been ordered in conjunction with the official yacht Amiable and share a design elements and colour scheme. A twomasted schooner, the Concord can keep good speed by always taking the most advantage of the wind. She is armed with eight 4-pounders to fend off any unwelcome visitors. Though ships of this kind can be well used by merchant vessels, it is common for them to be owned by high ranking naval officers as their private tinders when serving on large ships of the line. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A companion to the Amiable, they will will hopefully be sailing on missions together soon. She will be licenced by the Crown, @Bregir. Stat wise I suggest, R:5, M:4, G:2, C:3, $:2, H:2
  14. Fantastic! You're most welcome to join us! I have done some stories from northern Corrington as my sigfig comes from Wentham county, which I have imagined somewhere in the north. I did invent a new religion that is particularly strong in those parts, but havn't had much opportunity to develop it. Otherwise the only lore I've written is connected to my sigfig's family. @Spud The Viking has taken a Scotland inspired route which I assume is in the northen part of Corrington as well, but I'm not sure if it has been confirmed.
  15. Om my that's a beautiful house! I love the creative use of details on the facad! Not to mention the interior. My favourite part is tha halfstairs leading down to the door, and the rail betwwen them. Superbly done!
  16. This ought to makes any pirates think at least twice before attacking King's Harbour! I could never have imagened such a "vessel". Despite it's simplicity you've done a good job with the details: archor, mast, gunwails etc. The figure posing is also very dynamic; it really feels like a busy gun line. Also, how many barrels can you possibly have? Class wise I think 3 is correct. I counted it as being 52 studs long, compared to my HMS intrepid and the HMS Otter which are both 46 (at least that's my estimation from the pictures). Given the lack of sails it seems reasonable.
  17. This is a party I would not want to miss! Fantastic! The minifigs are flawlessly posed; those are some impressive dance moves! Of course the song is a true highlight!
  18. Thank you! I would have liked to use slopes for all of it but sadly those are the only brown one I have. Thank you very much! Thank you! At least they have somewhere to sleep that's not out in the open. Haha! I'm not sure if there are any lego rocking chairs or banjos. I hadn't thought about it as a distinct Port Raleigh design, more for the sugar plantations. But who knows where the next architural craze will come from Thank you! What part of the roof do think should be improved, the tiles or the railings?
  19. A plantations workers' quarters have been licenced as a medium residence
  20. One of the problems that had been plaguing Port Raleigh during last few years was a severe lack of houseing. Despite the fair amount of businesses in the settlement, ranging from commercial to artisan there were very few residences. This had been inhibiting the settlement's economic growth even before George Sterling arrived. Now, with the town bustling with trade and and new arrivals thanks to the new lighthouse and harbour, the shortage was worse than ever. Whether it was due to insolvancy, government bureaucracy, lacking development planning, or all three, George wasn't sure. To this alliviate the situation somewhat, he had funded new workers' quarters for his friend Hugo Lavendwood's sugar plantations. He met with the Hugo's local representative, Rick, to inspect the new residence. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I have been thinking about building a workers' barracks for months and now I finally got around to it. Despite it's relative simplicity I'm very happy how it turned out! As always, comments and criticism are welcomed!
  21. Thank you! Thanks! I've been trying to have some more variations in my builds late, instead of just plain brick, glad it worked!
  22. Hurray! It's back! I find it funny that my free class 2 brings in substatially more money than my new class 4.
  23. Business had been very good of late for the Lavendwood Commercial Trading Agricultural and Manufacturing Enterprise Limited. Hugo Lavendwood had payed off loans and credits he had been forced to use at the start of his business a year ago. It was now time to expand. To do so the company needed a new warehouse to store goods and supplies for its ships. He had come by a building colose to the Belson docks for a very reasonable prise. Currently he is inspecting the new property together with his trusted man Malcolm as the workers are already making use of the storage. OOC: Just a small build to increase my ship level +25 to 35.
  24. Seems I forgot to post this back when it was built so: a harbour has been licenced as a medium commerce
  25. A very warm welcome to BoBS and Corrington! You have chosen faction well, even though Mr Goodwin may have some doubts! Your character looks to bring some promising stories. As others have said, if you need help or have any other questions, just ask!
