  1. Hello, this might seem like a daft question, but obviously bricks are designed to stack, plates to go on top of plates and so on. I believe though that you could, for example, put a plate at ninety degrees to another plate and have it sit between the stud rows. Is that considered a, well, legitimate building method if it were of use? Would it be frowned upon by the MOC community? I'm rather new to all this!
  2. I'm looking around to get the hang of this particular forum before I put my foot in it and start promoting a project whilst still being a newbie. I think I'm allowed to, but if it ends up being hopeless compared to the other MOCs on here I may just stay drooling at the prettiness of everyone else's creations! I'm definitely an AFOL, my son having brought Lego back into my life in a sort of NinjaNexoSpaceStarCity mashup. So many shiny new bricks along with all the ones that wouldn't have been out of place in my old collection. I also still have my old Lego Club badges!
  3. Wow. Just wow. I've poked around Lego Ideas of late but I've never seen any Babylon 5 related models on there, which I always found strange. Surely there'd be a market for them?! That's incredible work...
  4. I love the chin and the visor, it's incredible you can capture that much detail at such a small scale...
  5. I'm also scratching my head on this sort of thing as I start to explore what I can do creatively, rather than just throwing together something with a pair of wings that my son will think is brilliant! I've found the ratchet hinge pieces are quite useful, they give your angles some solidity and can take quite a lot of weight. The modern pieces also include some nice smooth curves that are useful for detail. For panels and the like, I've found some pieces that are similar to 80s Lego pieces I used to use, so say a 2 by 1 plate with a 2 by 2 plate attached to it at a right angle. That's useful because you can build around the 2 by 1 plate and then attach things on the outside of the hull, even just little gratings for a bit more detail. As my son hasn't progressed to technic sets as yet I don't really know what you can do with them in detail, but I would imagine a lot of angles could be created - I just don't know how you'd then hide the innards effectively!
  6. This is, of course, a test..*waves hand mysteriously" This isn't the thread you're looking for.
