  1. Well, considering I've purchased Bionicle since ever it came out, probably since 2001. I'm kind of regretting getting rid of them though...
  2. Hello and thanks for looking! I have decided to sell my 128 bionicle sets since they no longer interest me, rather I want to focus more on TECHNIC sets and build that collection. As you can see by the pictures below they are all packaged and ready to be sent out. These sets were viewed as collector items...so they have not been out on display nor played with. I am looking to sell them around 1500-2000 USD on eBay. Here I am negotiating any price or offer for all of them before they are placed on eBay. Shipping can be negotiable, and shouldn't be outrageous for these can be shipped rather cheaply. Each bag has all the parts and the set number. Every set has instructions in near new condition.
  3. Geez! I could see the dust mites on my floor with that resolution ! Well I fixed the pictures so things can be viewed better. This is my first attempt at a review...and also my first attempt at using my brand new digital camera. Ill keep these resizing tips handy for my next old school review! This set really seems distant in many collectors...even over at Blakbird's Technicopedia it isn't in there (although he could of chosen not to include it in his collection for some reason). Overall I really like the look of this set...a jet is something TECHNIC has never really approached. As for my upcoming reviews...a few more lesser known sets and one legend ( this one literally soars into space if you get my hint). Thanks for viewing everyone !
  4. We'll spring break has left me with no school work and the economic recession without a job, thus I have nothing to do. To occupy my time and to share a very little known set with the lego community, I decided to labor myself and write a review about a jet model that literally flew under the radar of many LEGO lovers... 8450 The Mission General Information Number: 8450 Year: 1999 Pieces: 643 Price: 59.99 USD Piece/Price Ratio: 9.33 USD Set Dimensions: Length 42cm, Width (wingspan) 34cm, Height (with landing gear) 9cm Build Time: Approximately 2 hours + or - 15 minutes. Preliminary Aspects Marketing Well, lego isn't that big on commercials, rather it relies on the web and those little leaflets it used to put into sets. This set, sad to say, didn't have much attention except for brief appearances in the leaflets and some time spent on the lego website. It was supposed to serve as a cybermaster expansion set, but sadly cybermaster just didn't fly, thus the support for the Mission Jet was left dry. I think it didn't even appear on store shelves - giving it low exposure to potential buyers. The price per piece ratio isn't that high, considering 1 cent per piece isn't that too costly. Score: 2/5 Presentation Box: The box says everything: its the attention grabber that captures your interests and reels you in. The box is medium sized, and has an opening flap to view some of the details. Overall the box puts in a nice blend of a yellow color and the chrome framing around the set. Inside the flaps and on the back it shows varying views and functions of the main model, its accessories, alternate models, and various screenshots from the CD-ROM. The pictures have a futuristic city like background, which is a nice touch to make it not so plain. Score: 5/5 Packaging: The box contains, well, another box to put all your pieces in which is a nice convenience. No plastic trays, something they eliminated after last year. The bags are all numbered to help in the ordering of construction to make things go a little faster, and these bags are not perforated making them less likely to rip open. Of course my way is always is to just dump all the parts into a pile on the floor, but lego makes it easier for anyone who wants to build this set. Score: 5/5 Set Aspects Construction Instructions: Of the many sets lego has, this is one of the few to not have paper instructions. Lets consider this aspect on how well technology has advanced. It is a pain to have to sit down at the computer and watch its animations repeatedly to assemble this thing. You have to search through all the extras and features of the CD to find the instructions, then you set yourself on its pace. Worst of all, since technology has evolved way beyond WINDOWS 98 many computers are not compatible with this CD-ROM. With the noted problems with marketing as mentioned, lego has relatively little on this set and was not able to help me. Only after hours of searching I found a video showing the instructions then I was able to put this set together. It does include paper instructions, but only a bunch of legal jibberish in about ten thousand languages. Score: 2/5 Assembly: Aside from the instruction format being a pain, the actual construction is relatively painless. The set starts out with the assembly of all the modular parts and then the accessories. The cockpit: an easy build with a few stickers and H pins to hold the ends to the other part. The body: nothing special here either, just straight forward beams, pins, and all the other parts. This includes all the gears and hydraulics that operate all the functions of the jet. The engines: a repetitive step, but utilizes a unique way of smashing bushings, pins, and axles together to make a large component. The accessories: straighforward, nothing special except uses rubber bands and strings in them. So now that thats all set and done, now its time to unite all the modules to make a whole. Using the enslaved locals of my room, this task was accomplished quite easily. The final product of around a few hours of build. The construction is relatively straightforward, but really offers no unique steps. The modular build is a new concept at the the time and was just being explored, so it was something different. The build was quick and painless, nothing intense or tricky. Score: 10/15 Aesthetics Style: This set offered something different in the way it looked. A black, electric green, and yellow combo made for a stylish and very different look to this set. Somehow it all seems right. The stickers (yes evil stickers) add the technological screens, computers, and designs on to the set to make it pretty slick. The panels and flex tubes allowed for curves and shapes not possible before, and like other sets from this year were just an exercise in style basically. The sharp angles of the wings, the overall filling, and the slender body make this one hell of a visually pleasing set. Besides, black isn't a real common color in TECHNIC anymore...and once you go black you never go back. Score: 15/15 Parts: This set included many of the new panels, flex tubes, and many colorful pieces. The pegs were black and grey, not red and blue like they are now. It had a good mix of stud and non stud pieces, but other than that nothing really special. Stickers were numerous and a nuisance, but they still made the set look nice. Score: 4/5 Functions Mechanisms: This set has only four gears and one hydraulic pump...nothing real spectacular. These all operated simultaneously into one function that moved the landing gear and engines. Coming short this set really did not have a whole lot to drive its operations and therefore did not have a complex build or much functionality. Score: 5/10 Operations: With the few gears and hydraulic all working together, there is really only a few results. A trigger on the bottom of the jet causes the hydraulic to drive an axle which pulls two lift arms in the under carriage to deploy the wheels, and the axle also causes the engines to be facing vertically. This creates a vertical takeoff effect which looks very nice and runs quite smoothly. The cockpit also opens manually, which again is nothing special in this set. The accesories can be attached either side by a plus rod and pin. The tools include a winch, a bomb dropper, a giant hand, and something that I have no idea as to its purpose. Nice in a play sense, but has little value to a collector. Score: 6/10 Influence and Impact Sales: Considering cybermaster was short lived and the poor marketing campaign, this sets sales were probably horrible. Out of a sample of brickset users, only 35 out of 13855 have this set, or 0.002 percent. An extremely low amount. This set was no blockbuster, and few were willing to shovel out the bucks for this so called expansion set. Score: 1/5 Imapact: Sad to say, but with cybermasters fall and being overshadowed by the immense and spectacular 8448 Super Street Sensation, this set gave little to the future. It did though, follow the trend of the year, explored a new style and modular building, and possibly taught lego that expansion packs were not always a good thing and cd roms are not a good way to build with. Score: 2/5 Conclusion Overall Score: 57/85 or 67 percent Below average but only for its economic performane. Overall for a medium set its not that bad. It has great style, lego tried something different, and its relatively rare and unknown. I consider it a great collection to my family of 220 TECHNIC/Bionicle sets...and hopefully people will lift a blind eye to things like this more often. LG over and out....
  5. Just bought, off of bricklink, for $260 an 8480 Space Shuttle....can wait for this fantastic set to arrive!
  6. Best: 1)Technic 2)Space 3)City/Town Worst: 1) Galidor 2)ZNAP 3)Jack Stone Now, I'm trying not to be biased in any of these, but when my good ol' fav' Technic comes under the gun I can't help but question. Sure for some people its different and thats reason enough to like it, but I think all these functions are fantastic. And I'm a tad bit confused on what people mean by fictional and non-fictionaly Technic...either way Technic is still Technic.
  7. Hello everyone ! For the next few weeks I will be offering some of my older TECHNIC sets from my collection. After dissambleing, cleaning, and fixing up nearly 220 TECHNIC and Bioncile sets I still have around 40 or so that need parts, stickers, etc that I dont have. But college is fast approaching, and I'm a little short on cash to help repair the other sets (or buy more). Sacrifices are necessary for the good of the others, and I'm willing to offer Eurobricks the first chance at these sets! The sets that I'm offering are NOT MISB, and may need a few replaced parts for some broken pieces, and may not have all their stickers. I am willing to trade for the following: cash, I won't rip you off, any offer will do as long as it isn't some stupid offer (Paypal required) ; sets, I will take any Bionicle, Technic, or Technic construction based sets; other, hey if you offer me something I like i'll take it. Sets Offered (Subject to Change) Please Read Description 8448 Super Street Sensation - Acquired Dec. 1999, no stickers, cleaned up and parts replaced 8446 Crane Truck - Acquired Dec. 1999, no stickers, cleaned up, some parts need to be replaced 8461 Williams F1 - Acquired Dec. 2003, stickers are dissolving, cleaned up, and all parts present Thank You!
  8. I have not had my dark age yet, but certain signs are pointing towards it. With my income, focus, and interests gearing more toward college and work, lego has become a smaller priority for me. I recently disassembled, cleaned, and replaced parts in 200+ Technic and Bionicle sets in preparation of moving out soon. Dark Ages or not, when I finally graduate, get involved in my career, have a home, and yes a wife...those lego sets will still be hanging around in storage to be resurrected.
  9. 8265 Front End Loader...! Nice looking set...reminds me of the old front end loader which was oh so popular! http://flickr.com/photos/vbbn/3213851652/
  10. As far as I can tell, all of these look like early prototypes. For those of you who don't like the color scheme or construction...these are not the finalized and edited sets. The London, Paris, and New York Toy Fairs will all be soon, so we should get the nearly finalized models during that time...and im sure they will look much better.
  11. I've never won anything in my life... Ah, what the hell...count me in!
  12. Hmmm your math doesn't quite add up, and if your assumption is as good as your math, you'll realize its the kids that choose what they like...lego tests their products with kids to see which ones they like best which often times tells more about their behavior than the company's. There's no hidden message here, just read all the posts before you that don't take up space, that say more meaningful and intellectual things (sometimes) about bionicle. Hmmmmmmmm, do i see a subliminal "ban me" in the fourth to last line..... :skull:
  13. I don't have any, but here's some on ebay........and you better hurry before time runs out. Click here.
  14. No way! I absolutely loved the new off roader, in fact i consider better in many ways than the old one.....it was the telehandler that gave me problems. BTW Sinner, heres a few links that might help (credit to Conchas for these) PF Review here Excavator Review here Linear Actuator Review here
  15. Got the telehandler today and completed it in about 4 hours and taking a look at it im quite dissappointed....... The overall set is quite large......but compared to pics i've seen the body of this set is quite flat. A thing i've noticed about the instructions is that they are way too simplified, only a few or no parts for each step, and the only reason i can think of it is (dare I say it) juniorization. A dramatic claim for such a line, but looking at the past large sets had smaller instructions i.e. 8480 Space Shuttle around 60 pages, while this set had 170 for it. Im not saying the line in general is becoming completely <insert that tiresome argument>, but seeing that lego lets kids choose what models they want before production, the simplified instructions, and lack of functions like gearboxes shows that maybe TECHNIC has made a change. Anyways.......the functions of the set are okay, but not great. The linear actuator you have to turn about 1000 times for it to extend. The set has 4 wheel steering turned by a series of beams and gears much like the smaller telehandler in 2006, but it is extremely difficult to turn the wheels....along with it the turn radius is poor and one set of wheels lags behind the others. The boom is standard among its features....nothing wrong with it. The outriggers only move up and down around an inch. My verdict? Not fantastic but not craptastic. If your willing to blow $90 USD or 70 Euro....well its your choice on this one whether or not its worth the money.
  16. I think thats easily identified as a MOC judging by the combinations of parts, plates, and figures.....
  17. I live in Indiana, and I bought the set for preorder and they shipped it when it was first available before it went on backorder. Yes I do highly recommend this set, its packed full of goodness we haven't seen in Technic in a awhile along with the new power function innovations. The only thing is the power functions add around $30 USD to a set that normally with 1000 pieces is $90 USD
  18. Well the 8297 came a few days ago, I just couldn't resist tearing straight into it immediately...its been nearly 8 months since i've gotten a large set. Sorry Sinner, no review, just had to enjoy this one myself....if you want pics of this set click here (credit to this person for posting them) Here's some thoughts....... The set is actually fairly simple to put together, 3.5 hours, and like many sets once you've slapped the interior together the rest comes quick. I must say though besides the orange and withour the stickers this set is only a mass of black, grey, and bley. I'm really getting sick of these seperate instructions, why can't they just put them all together, the last book only had 20 pages compared to the previous 75 pages of the others. I like how they don't include the other model's instructions.....saves trees and space. The functions of these sets are getting more innovated now, especially with the power functions. I find that lego is attempting to make these sets a little more complex, especially with the one switch transmissions being included now (gearbox soon anyone?), but they are trying a little to hard on the gears for they placed them everywhere. Nice to see a V-8, last set to have one was the old off-roader. Suspension is a little rusty and takes around 5 seconds for it to work, absolutely hate the new "simpler" diff, the hydraulics finally make a return, and the new 3L universal joint adds a little more range of motion to these sets. Overall this set seems a little more full than usual and not as hollow as many of the previous studless sets. Well the telehandler will be here soon, can't wait to see what the linear actuator has to offer. With all these increasing functions....im just hoping to see a new super car soon
  19. Just bought the 8295 Telehandler and it should be here tuesday. That only leaves the excavator to complete TECHNIC '08.
  20. I find it completely hilarious how kids come in here and cuss like sailors all the time....and besides no reason to get so uptight, some stores just aren't getting these things in. Many stores have a backed stock of items either from them not selling as well in that particular region or they ordered too many, the thing is there not going to put out anything new unless their old products are sold. My stores around here have gotten things in as early as 3 months and sometimes they didn't even get in the shipment for this years sets. It seems many of you have personal problems involving you buying sets.....well just deal with it and don't bicker so much here about it. Personally to me knowing about these sets months before has dulled my anticipation, i've seen and heard what they're about for six months and now I go and buy them knowing fully what i'm getting. If I remember right, around late august to september is when we got winter 2007-2008 set info in......going on that im looking forward to seeing what next year has to offered.
  21. It appears this years sets have a new differentail piece that doesn't allow for axles to be pushed in past the gear, and also it only has teeth on one side oriented for gears at 90 degree angles. As for the suspension, its similar to the 8466 Off Roader except that the shocks are connected by 4 stud length thin beams to the wishbone assembly. As for all this, ill be getting mine here in the next few days and ill try to post pictures or a review.....that's if im not feeling too lazy. To see the parts and instructions click here.
  22. Simply put I wanted to be a weatherman...so naturally I wanted to pick something that was weatherish. Somehow this was the end result...and I've used at almost every site in which I am a member.
  23. Ordered the 8297 Off-Roader from S@H today ....should be here by tuesday thanks to next day shipping. Can't wait to get it, and hopefully this extreme off-roader sequel won't dissappoint! At the rate i'm spending money ill have nothing left.....and thanks to illegal immigration I don't have a job anymore to keep with all the new sets this summer.
  24. Hey, I feel your pain. I took the A.P. US History, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP Calculus, and AP Literature all in succession. There was only one thing I felt like doing after those tests..... Of course I think I did well, I'm guessing (in order) I got a 5,5,3,5,2 on them. The finals I took the past few days were so much easier, in fact I am insulted at how dumbed down high school finals are compared to ap finals.
  25. Well because of the condition of the model according to the equation A=Ce^-kt the half life rate will determine approximately how long my MOC has until complete decay. And for those who have no idea what in the hell I'm talking about for me its usually a month.
