I had this vision so imagine seeing how it all worked out in the end I am grateful for the support. I thought I'd take a break but I can feel my position on that gradually changing

I knew it had to resemble the real thing as closely as possible or it wouldn't work. Actually at the very start I did a vector mockup of the map with the streets straightened out but OMG it sucked. And you would think that micro took a lot less bricks to produce, but nope

Very nice :)

Maybe because a reboot would renew the interest in the old stuff. Isn't that the basic assumption of supply and demand?
-
Yes, that's it :) the bottom consists of 8 x 16 tiles.

But microscale has no theme of it's own, right?

Hurry and get the Classic Space sets you long for before the prices skyrocket :) I would love to see the CS reintroduced and parts like the special wedge plates that can extend eachother.

Hello. Ten days ago I posted my MOC City of Copenhagen here on Eurobricks. I also mentioned how I had come up with a solution I call OAMR System to solve the oblique angled roads and now I have made a collage to discribe the basics of it. There are of course a lot of other tricks (and variations of the illustrated examples) involved in my MOC but these got me started:

At a slow pace I have started to add more photos to the flickr photo set of the project. I'd like to believe I'm alot better at making MOCs than photographing them :D I have updated the first post to include all the photos. Don't miss the tour discription in the flickr photo set :D

All my MOCs since '08 are still intact... maybe not the cheapest approach. I promissed more/better pictures and a little explaining but it will be a few more days. Sorry about that.

Hey guys — thanks a bunch for your feedback. I have been very busy (still am) since completing my MOC/LEGO World but I will get back with more photos (close-ups) and an explanation of the OAMR System.

[Edit: September 2nd 2016] I have finally gotten around to extending this model in the direction of Kongens Nytorv and Nyhavn which are two very popular destinations of Copenhagen for both tourists and the citizens. I'll put a picture both here and also with a comment later in this thread. Lots of close-ups of the extended part in the Flickr gallery [Edit: 2014] I have now added a whole bunch of pictures both here and on flickr. If you want the historical, explanatory discription for the different buildings you will have to visit the flickr photo set. And feel free to leave a commend here or there :) Original message 2014: I'm a member of Danish LUG Byggepladen and I'm a bit of a rare poster in this wonderful forum, but here's my short story: Over the last few years one thing let to another and much later I'm finally done with my model City of Copenhagen (Denmark). It is a microscale, sporting a really twisted micro snot mosaic road system. For lack of better I have chosen to call it OAMR System — Oblique Angle Micro Road System. You won't get a more LEGO System compatible micro snot road system for this scale. I would personally love to see some different micro's (just as a contrast to those otherwise beautiful Micro Skyscraper Square Grids), perhaps depicting one of the many awesome city plans of the world or just something you make up yourself :) And once again, here is the whole photo set on flickr. The photo from LEGO World Copenhagen 2014:

Shapeways.com... any good for custom Lego pieces?
Ulrik Hansen replied to BrickG's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I just became aware of Shapeways a few days ago and I guess there are several posts in here on 3D printing. I dream of things like cheese slope corners etc. Also, 2L Bars in a variety of colors could be a big hit. I wonder how good the colors are when mixing with LEGO elements? -

Hello I am not at all a big poster in here but now I have something to share with you. In the danish LUG Byggepladen we are presently having a competition about making a knight for a tournament and for once I decided to participate. The thing is I thought about the awesome Neo Classic Space theme and that there should be an equally awesome Neo Classic Castle theme, and so here is my contribution: Ulrik

Lego's part in modern danish culture
Ulrik Hansen replied to Mazin's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It's a sure thing that some danes are VERY proud of The LEGO Group (TLG) being danish, as with Aqua/Barbie Girl, Maersk Sealand, Danfoss, Carlsberg and our (so called oldest in the world) flag. We have had our megablocks kicked in post viking war so many times and our borders shrunk so much that the next step would be extinction (I wonder why it hasn't happend yet). It is obvious that anything danish is only gonna be big, if the surrounding world is taking the bait — like the toll of Øresund. There is no huge marked within Denmark for quick ventures but then again as we all know LEGO is not something that came overnight. The times were just right in the startup for the big danish companies of today. I think the geographical position of Denmark (it's really a passthrough from north to south and east to west both via land and sea) lends a certain perspective to innovation and necessity. It's a place for western culture tryouts that can be taken further if proven successful. Many times it doesn't succeed but it's worth the try because of the big difference in profit between the danish marked and that of the international world. There is no need for TLG to advertise a lot in the media because LEGO bricks are obvious gift choice for any sane parent + resellers do a lot of ads already when having special brick sales. Only later in a kids life does other stuff enter the gift picture like computers, phones and clothing. But then they have already been affected for life with Dublo's and years of SYSTEM play. Of course ANY respectful kindergarden in Denmark have a large brick collection and a wash routine to keep up with small greasy fingertips (washing was not invented by BL). Does LEGO LEGO LEGO make danes sick? No. Does every dane understand the AFOL community? No. Are some spouses fed up with their partner's hobby? Yes, but that's an international phenomenon, right. All said, let's not be tooooo nationalistic about TLG. After all they have/had their inspirations along the way too. I think we can all be proud of LEGO being from planet earth. The rest is about creating. LEg GOdt Play well -
Awesome MOC, Lasse — it certainly deserves to make it to the frontpage. The danish LUG wouldn't be the same without you and your mom's great contributions.
