Duesenberg! I love the oldies.

Wow dude, you really went all out here. And it looks amazing. I love the rounded towers. Haven't seen that technique used too much in castle building.

The Lego TV Commercial Archive
Brickadier General replied to Brickadier General's topic in General LEGO Discussion
You're welcome. I'll try to post more as I find them. I haven't really seen them on U.S. TV either, but I think part of that is because I stopped watching Nickelodeon eons ago. No Lego ads on the History Channel or Discovery Channel, and that's about all I watch anymore. :-D Annoying and cheesy, yes. But so bad, it's funny. Well, I found some more to add to the list above: 2005 Knights Kingdom "action figures" 1993/1994? Lego Expo: "Wizard's World" 1980 Town: Main Street Norwegian? Political ad using Technic Figures 1995 Royal Knights (in Spanish) Hospital ad featuring Lego 2001 Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone "Lego: Making Kid's Dreams since 1936" 1994 Town Edit: Just stumbled on an old 1950s Town Plan commercial. *sweet* Town Plan ad -
Would you like to live in a life size Lego set?
Brickadier General replied to AgentRick's topic in Community
I don't care if it's a vehicle and not a building. The Airport Shuttle is so awesome, I'd live in it forever if I could. X-D -
Hey all, The minifigs in the Rebel Scout Speeder set are pretty nice. I especially like they heads and think they can be used in a wide range of military minifig customs. Here's one example I rigged up: They would also look good on soldiers with pith helmets, as well as World War II helmets. Too bad they're fleshies. Next up is my 2nd version of Confederate, American Civil War General, Louis Armistead. My first version was a little ridiculous, what with the smiley face and all. In this version, I used Legofreak's Confederate decal and an Arealight hairpiece. And with the soldiers march alongside Armistead, I used Red Bean beards and Legofreak's decals. I will never use rock raiders torsos by themselves for Confederate soldiers ever again! Here's a video of Armistead in Pickett's charge from the movie, Watching it and seeing pictures on the net, I realize that his hat should be black, not gray. My bad. This was the old version:

Some New Castle Customs
Brickadier General replied to Lamanda2's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
These look really good, and I especially like the dresses. Very professional looking. I myself only use sticker paper, and it works really well. I use clear packing tape to "laminate" the sticker, and I think it give it a "lego-like shine." -
For details and display, brick-built hulls are the way to go. Hull pieces are fun too for practical use, especially with a motor. I remember back in the early 90s my cousin had a motor that was able to fit on the bottom of his ship hull, so they're nothing new. I'm not sure where he got it though.

Rescue from the Moat Monster (Quad-Vig)
Brickadier General replied to SirNadroj's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Very nice, SirNadroj. Your moat monster looks freaky (but that's a good thing). The "fleshy" faces you used were very appropriate for the characters you made, and also, your photography rocks. :-) -
Even though I already posted, to paraphrase REM, "It's the end of the Exo Force as we know it, and I feel fine..." Sorry, I had to do it. ;-) On a serious note, I think anyone interested in buying exo-force minifigs should buy them now. I think a few years down the line, they might be a bit more pricey, because the torsos are really great for space MOCers. So they might be in high demand. Then again, I could be way off base here.

Online petitions aren't very effective. Plus, even if Lego did get a lot of requests I don't think they'd make a "modern war" theme, although in the past I felt it would have been possible. In an age of political correctness, I think there would be too many parents raising hell over this. Take World War II... You need sets for the axis powers, right? Nazi Germany is a must. The problem with this? The Jewish community would especially be unhappy, and the memory of the Holocaust is so strong with most people. It is so strongly associated with the regime, that it wouldn't matter if Lego didn't make models having to do with the Nazis in regard to the Holocaust. Plus, Lego would be unable to sell these sets in Germany. Modeling the Japanese is another problem, as I don't think it would go over so well in China where they were brutally occupied by Japan during the war. But just because Lego probably wouldn't make a minifig scale war theme, I'm sure that they could still make an ultimate collector's series type model of a tank or plane, as they did with the World War I Sopwith Camel and Red Baron's Tri-plane. But even then, there would still most likely be limits as to what they could produce.

The Lego TV Commercial Archive
Brickadier General replied to Brickadier General's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks, I just fixed it, so you can see the real video now. I looked and found some of the promotional 3D animated videos. I didn't see any TV ads though. Thanks, I've added it to the list. It is very nice too. I love the ones with stop-motion animation. -
OK, so one of my fondest memories as a child was of course Lego. And when I watch TV, I would always get excited when I saw the Lego advertisements. Some of them were really good. Anyway, I was searching YouTube recently, and they have a tone of commericals there, which was a pleasant surprise to me because I remember looking for some there about a year or two ago, and they didn't really have anything. So I thought it would be a cool idea to make a thread featuring links to as many Lego TV commercials as I could find. And if you can find any more (and I know there are more out there), you are welcome to post a link here, whether they be official Lego ads or ads for companies featuring Lego. Also, I will try to organize things by decade, but if any of you know the specific date for any of these, let me know. 1950s Town Plan ad 1970s 1980s 1980 Town: Main Street 1982 Stop Motion ad 1987 Lego Basic/Duplo (this one is hilarious, as it makes fun of clone brands) 1989 UK Castle: Dark Foresters What would Thomas Edison have built? Jack the Lego Maniac: Castle & Pirate 1989 UK: Technic 1990s Froot Loops Lego Sweepstakes ad 1991 Blaktron II 1991 Nautica (Harbor theme) 1991 Pirates 1992 Pirates 1992 What would the Wright Brothers have built? 1993/1994? Lego Expo: "Wizard's World" 1994 Technic Stop-Motion ad 1994 Town 1995 Royal Knights (in Spanish) Time twisters ad Wild west ad Spyrius ad 2000s 2001 Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Lego Star Wars: Slave I 2005 Knights Kingdom "action figures" 2006 Spongebob 2007 Batman Video Game Teaser 2008 Indiana Jones Video Game Trailer 2007 Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga Trailer "Lego: Making Kid's Dreams since 1936" Lego Football/Soccer ad Hospital ad featuring Lego Norwegian? Political ad using Technic Figures And I know this isn't an ad, but I thought it was hilarious: . Seriously, just watch it. lol

Pure greatness. The custom robe makes this guy really stand out.

I think you can request a free catalog. Of course, you used to anyway. With it online, I don't know if they offer that anymore.
-
I was never really a big fan of the line, although (as others have said) I did like the minifigs. But most of the mechs were never really appealing to me. And if Agents is supposed to be the successor...then I think I would just assume keep Exo-Force. lol

What book are you reading right now?
Brickadier General replied to Norrington's topic in Culture & Multimedia
1421: The Year China Discovered America. It's a very interesting read, even if some of Menzie's evidence is questionable, a lot of it is just as intriguing. It's hard to believe that China had such a large fleet for exploration years before Europe, only to eventually take an isolationist policy and destroy most records of the fleet's expeditions. Someone should make the fleet in Lego form. :-) Then for college, I have to read atrocious books for U.S. National Security Policy and International Relations. Then I have 2 books for my Civil War class that are pretty interesting, Ordeal by Fire by (James?) McPherson and Problems with the Civil War by I have no idea who... So yeah, I'm always reading, whether I want to or not. Such is the life of the history major. :-D -
When I saw the windows, I thought they might've been garage door pieces on their side. Those are some very convincing decals. And the overall design of the building is pleasing to the eye.

I seriously didn't try that. lol I had no clue what he looked like. I just picked a random head. I'm not sure of too many minifig heads with a mustache and small goatee. There is the "professor" guy from Time Cruisers, but he is cross-eyed and that would probably look strange. I will definitely have to watch it some time. And your fig can be whatever you want it to be. It's Lego after all. :-P I did an image search on the Tigers (+ civil war, otherwise you get a lot about the football team). Plus, I used to collect toy soldiers and had a few old catalogs on hand for reference. I don't know either. I got the idea for using red pants and red pirate rags from someone on Brickshelf a long time ago, but they used the U.S. cavalry torsos. Funny thing is, at the 2006 NMRA show I put these guys on the Northern side by mistake.

It keeps looking better and better. The finished interior is a welcome surprise too.

Right now, just a bunch of random songs from the game, Shenmue. Has a lot of traditional/modern Asian style music, and I like that kind of stuff.
