  1. The car is good looking and well build but I think there is a true design problem : Do you think it's worth having a spyder if it's a single seater ?
  2. I prefer green roadplates. Either you need a sidewalk and then you may cover it with tiles, or you are in the countryside and then green is better. It's much more colorful too. I'm a bit fed up with bley and black colors. Green is less annoying with a train layout. You can easily put roads and tracks without having to put buildings on grey studs to fill the gaps. In the 60ies, road were sometimes brick-red. Why not having green and red roadplates ?
  3. I bought it EUR 64.99 (Maxi Toys - Belgium-France) Amazon sells it EUR 55.80 And Dreamland (Belgium-Netherlands) EUR 49.99. It would be easy to find it around EUR 40 at the end of January ...
  4. Congratulations ! You did a very good job ... I like the way you hide the main landing gear like in a real cargo plane The overall size is great too. It's large enough to get major details that TLG was not able to put in oversized plane. That's a pity that TLG has not allow to put retractable landing gear. TLG should have put a hole in their nose part. The rear door is fun too. I think I will try to make a plane like yours to carry my Smart-like Car. Your color scheme is fine. Thanks for sharing !
  5. It's 20 cm high, 15 cm large and 30 cm long so you have to put a lot of water to make it dive. Otherwise, as it's Lego, it will sink properly. I won't try (Lego are not easy to dry) but If I were you, I'd remove black driving wheel parts and some transparent round plates that could escape during the wreck. Please take picture if you try. Thanks. I didn't remember the name for that color. In fact, there are only two pieces apart from visors : the windshield, this one. Yes it's glow in the dark opaque Bionicle spine.
  6. Thanks for the great review, Darth Pineapple. The front of the truck is very impressive and there are some cool play function (pseudo shock absorber, stabilizer, ...). I never saw such a truck with crane carrying large rubber raft in the real world But that the kind of trucks I saw after the last hurricane. The electricity company brought some with large generator to supply power to villages when the network was broken. It would be cool if Lego could renew itself instead of issuing always the same firemen, policemen, public workers and emergency sets. I actually saw this set last week but as for the Coast Guard Truck, it seems to have a scale problem. It could fit my city if it was a military truck with a tank or an armoured vehicle. The stabilizers could fit a 6-wide truck but seem weak for a truck of that size. I don't like the rubber raft too. Unlike the small one, this one is hollow.
  7. Neptune carrier A big red vacuum cleaner in the depths of Atlantis Set #8075 Theme: Atlantis Year Released: since December 2009 (2010 officially) Piece Count: 493 (19 extras) New parts : Red tile 1 x 3 (x3) and Dark bley brick 1 x 1 with stud on one side (x8) Printed parts : minifigs legs and torsos, slope 45° 2 x 2 decorated with knobs and screens (x2) Minifigs: 4, 3 divers and 1 manta warrior List Price: EUR 64.99 (Amazon sells it for EUR 55.80 .. what’s wrong with Lego prices ?) January sets are on shelves ! I planned to buy more #3177 but it was already out of stock when I returned to my toy store. As my daughters are found of sets with things that you can hang, hide, etc… I decided to come back with another Atlantis set. The box It’s one of the biggest. Compare it to other Atlantis theme. Same size as Winter Toy Shop. Already well-known front. Back displays as usual extra functions supposed to add some fun to the set : flick-fire missiles with lime round brick (4), trapdoors with tools on one side and spear guns on the other side, an aquatic scooter that I would call subbike, the car that you can park on the lower deck of the carrier. I must admit that the angle of view is great as all that you can see on this picture is what you get … and nothing more. I could stop my review here in fact. Top shows the minifigs included That’s the kind of box I like : it’s easy to open (just cut the seals, nothing to punch with your thumbs), easy to reuse for storage and easy to flatten. This is a big set. The manual is divided into 2 booklets, and use piece call-out. Of course, you get an USS (useless sticker sheet), mainly intended to decorate the crappy technic panels. 4 numbered bags that YOU SHALL NOT MIX TOGETHER, manual says (but no fine yet if you do). Some loose parts : tipper drum halves in red and a trans bright green windshield. As usual, just shake the box before opening and you will get a real mess ! USS and Instructions Stickershit First page with tables of the laws. Random page Last 3 pages. Atlantis theme sets. Sets in action. For those with webcam, internet acces and time to waste and who like virtual and fashionable things. The last and the most interesting. The inventory. It’s mainly dark bley and red. Bag 1 Let’s open bag 1. Two smaller bags in it. The building begins with minifigs, and then the subbike, the car and ends with the black manta. Let’s open a bracket for minifigs This minifig is my preferred one. He looks as a tough guy, a real adventurer, not an altar boy. He looks great in his diver suit ! He’s depicted as the biker, hung on the rear of the carrier on the front picture. This one seems to be the brain of the crew. He’s the pilot of the carrier. He’s great too. This one is the novice, the trainee. The young one that only look for racing on the bottom of the sea. And now, new propaganda from Copenhagen. Stop polluting the seas otherwise you will turn to this ! It does not feel in great health. TLG issued a new headgeartant wouldn’t be easy to reuse in other themes. It’s made of soft stuff like rubber and can be easily bent. Manta warrior in full suit. How Schrecklich ! In fact he is ! There are 3 divres against only one manta warrior … but only divers can be frightened. Oups ! I forgot to speak about the ring. It’s green painted with gold with a manta pattern. Done ! Here we are at the end of the building. 7 extra pieces on the right. The sub bike. Very smooth and simple design The car. Nice and impressive … … with a real car base ! and very few pieces in fact. The black manta has a very classic but efficient design, with smart reuse of car pieces. The belly Bag 2 Two smaller bags in bag 2. Only red, black and dark bley parts to build the core of the carrier. Lime round plates are hidden behind the hinges. You may see both decorated slope on this picture. The white one above and the black one below. 3 extra pieces on the right. The top of the lower deck is smartly built with hinge plates. The correct angle is obtained thanks to black door rails plates. But it’s time to open booklet 2 Bag 3 Only one smaller bag in bag 3, (but who cares ?). Only red, black and dark bley parts to build the lower deck of the carrier. You may see these 1 x 10 curved slopes in red. And when attached to the former step … (5 extra pieces on the foreground) Close-up It’s time to open bag 4. Bag 4 Two smaller (aso) … The pearl gold curved brick is hidden under the front hood … Lego is emptying some Indy stocks ! and tipper drum parts Trapdoor made with this ugly crappy cheapplastic-looking technic panels. You’ve got tools on the left hand side. To leave them there is the better way to lose them as they are not firmly held. That’s not the case for spear guns on the right and side. At last, it does not look so bad. (4 extra pieces) Side view Front view. It reminds me of some star wars ship … I like the design very much. That kind of big mouth with a slim nose With vehicles and figs New pieces 3 tiles 1 x 3, design number 63864 8 bricks with stud on one side, design number 87087 Global appreciation The carrier is well designed, not too big, not too heavy. You don’t have to be “big-handed” to take it and the building is strong enough for several take off and landing from the air. The way the large propeller is held is not the best as it tends to move round his vertical axis. A second manta warrior would have been great for playability. TLG is a bit stingy for a set of that size. In 2010, this set will be probably found between 45 and 65 EUR. In the same time a manta warrior would be sold for 2.65 to 3.5 EUR as an impulse … It's going to be cheaper to buy parts separatly ! (Most of 8075's parts are very common Most of pieces can be reuse. Only technic panels are a bit useless and tipper drum parts for those who don’t have a city. Red is dead. I have so many red bricks that I don’t know how to use them. May be I should build a giant Chinese flag … Every time I see a set with a lot of red bricks, I hesitate to order only those I lack of. The main flaw is the price. It’s not expensive … it completely overpriced, it’s thief. For the same price, I ordered on BL 6441 Deep Reef Refuge a 12years old collector item full of exclusive parts. And it was not produce by cheap workforce at that time (8075 is made in Denmark – I wonder what and for how long – China, Hungary and Czech R). So, happy Xmas TLG, that was my donation for this year ! There is (still) something rotten in the Kingdom of Denmark Just look what happen to Atlantis !
  8. we're already waiting for you ! Hurry up ...
  9. INDEXED City Seaplane City - A floatplane without water nor pontoon Set #3178 Theme: City Year Released: 2009 (2010 officially) Piece Count: 107 (5 extras) - May be some new part (slopes) Minifigs: 1 List Price: EUR 9.99 I really liked 2008's Air mail (set #7732) and bought many boxes of it for my LAMS (Lego Air mail Service) and my airport fields. The front picture and the color scheme of this new city floatplane look quite appealing. That's certainly why I picked this one on the shelf instead of the latter release of the fire station. That's a small box. There is no piece count on boxes in this part of the world. But it's amazingly lighter than imagined when you get it in your hand. The top shows the pilot, nothing really new there and only déjà vu parts. This time again, this set will help to fully use the suitcase mold. The theme this year seems to be "empty the suitcase stock" ! The back shows the seaplane in action. You can easily open the roof to put the the pilot in (top picture). The picture in the lower left corner shows the plane from the front, hiding very cleverly the crappy way they link the floats to the fuselage. The upper right picture depicts the pilot carrying a mapple syrup can I guess on what could be a 4 x 4 golf practice. The lower right picture shows the pilot standing on the float, the back door of the plane opened, with his suitcase : In fact, it's very hard to have the minifig stand on the float as either he hits his head on the wing, or he has to stand on the grilled slope of the float. At last, Lego realize that all of that was not fun at all so TLG add a minifig in pilot suit, not included, shouting just to disturb our attention. The content. That's not a joke but there are two booklets. Next time bags will be also numbered ! No comment on the sticker. Especially the Lufthansa-like fishbone logo for the rudder. A random page of each booklet. The build begins with ... booklet 1. That's of no interest as I can't hardly see the link of this build with the plane. I'd have prefered a pontoon, an office or something else. I think this part of the build is only piece count requirement. Look, but the guy looks guilty. With his Canadian skirt, his sunglasses, and its black suitcase, he seems to have problems with the treasury and to convey balls of bucks to a Caribbean bank. Here you can see extra parts on top and the emptyness of the cockpit : Yoyu may also notice that's impossible to stand on the float except on the back slope. Two remarks : 1) we get windows instead of panels for the walls of the hold 2) these very long slopes seems to be new, aren't they ? Global views of the floatplane. Argh !! The design with these technic connectors between the floats is very badly inspired. Lego has done much better by the past. Rear views with tail and rudder. Side view with pilot And without In my opinion, it's quite cute and tiny but I have seen better design. It's not that cheap (105 parts for 10 EUR) and it's yellow and grey. That's not the collors I'm really looking for.
  10. INDEXED City Runabouts City - World's going warmer ! it's time to get a smaller car Set #3177 Theme: City Year Released: 2009 (2010 officially) Piece Count: 45 (2 extras) - No new part except printed torso Minifigs: 1 List Price: EUR 4.99 The flu is back outside, Saint-Nicolas has gone and it's snowing for the first time this winter (it's usually at the beginning of november). A great day for a review ! May be our crisis hit Legoland world ? As for real world, Lego Car Designers followed the market by issuing a pied Smart. The box is hardly bigger than a child hand. You got twice the same picture on the front and on the right hand side, and a picture of what seems to be a new torso (a sweater) on the top of the box. Only hieroglyphs on the other sides. The box is however as void as usual. Here is the content : Good news ! No sticker ... God bless (danish) gods. The view with a random page will close the chapter on the booklet : Lego warehouse must be full of green 1 x 2 plates ! You may notice four of them hidden in the design of the car ... There is something odd with the minifig. At first sight, I would have said this guy was a jogger. But he wears no cap, and he took a suitcase ? ?? Moreover, it's a long time I haven't seen somebody with green pants. Danish fashion ? His back is printed too. The car is a single seater, 8 x 4, has no seat, no side and rear windows, no ESP I guess and only a big rear stop light just under the roof. We get a white cheesecake and a round transclear plate as extra parts (top of the picture). Comfortable is not a word I'd would use for that car. The driver can't lean backward as his head hit the back light and it's difficult to get in the car as the doorway is very high : I think it's only worth for city life, traffic jams and car parks (I 've never seen any Car pack in Lego city for decades so it's must be a big issue for dwellers). Just check where they put the engine before leaving for a long journey ! This set is cheap but not so cost effective with a ratio of 0.11 (price over parts #) but it's a very cheap way to get : - a nice double-sided torso, - a not so common trans black windshield - a good base to fill your city with playable not oversized vehicules Have fun
  11. Here is the Spirit of St Louis. Just go there (Washington) and have a look of this legend : I don't think so. There is no 45° slope in the original plane design ... and no front cockpit window. Except that it wouldn't have been the Spirit Of St Louis. This set is a great one and I wish I'd bought it in '77. It is the Spirit of the 70ties ...
  12. ... feel old suddenly. So beat it !, Mr. Moonwalker ...
  13. They do. Especially minifig parts (once there was light blay dwarf helmet), tiles, windows, technic parts, ...
  14. Not so many ... Not so usefull for the design
  15. So, don't forget medieval market (tatooine ?) and crappy AT-AT cat ! As far as I remember, that's not the number but the large black&blue sticker put in the box that made it a UCS ...
  16. The dropship is on S@H ... Argh !
  17. Nice review. I'm eager to buy tons of set 8014 ! The shuttle is too undersized for me Not exactly. Mace came with a classic chrome silver light saber in the 2nd release of CTT. This one is cartoonish. As for Vader and Palpatine, torso has a different pattern (and color). Previous was dark bley. This one seems to be dark tan with a white shirt.
  18. Nikon D700 with AF-S VR 100mm macro lens Definitely ! I do agree. I bought it twice... for heads, torsos, hairs and hats and tan pieces. EUR 34,99 I bought it in Kaufhof, Trier, Germany. Kaufhof shops can be found in any major german city. New IJ sets in Kaufhof Just try !
  19. Shanghai Chase Indiana Jones - Temple of Doom - 2009 already available ! Set #7682 Theme: Indiana Jones - Temple of Doom Year Released: 2008 (2009 officially) Piece Count: 256 (12 extras) Minifigs: 5 List Price: EUR 35 The box. Front : Back : Top : Box content : 2 bags and the booklet. No DSS The booklet. Frontpage : First page : Random page : 5 minifigs come in this set. Torsos and legs are in bag 1, heads and hairs in a smaller bag in it. Willie is completely new New hair (back is on top) in light yellow New face New torso and legs Torso is also printed on the back That's not blood that leaks through the hair ! Just the lips, the head is double-sided Gansgsters (I don't remember who they are). Faces and suits seem to be new ? They wear Indy hat in black. They look great ! Indy and short Round. Of course Indy is in every IJ box. But this one is at last a little bit more smart ! What you build with bag 1 Some shots of the car : There is a smaller bag in bag 2 and a cardboard folded around the dark tan canopy. It takes a few minutes to build the car : . In my opinion, the windscreen is far too small and gives this odd roofline to the car. I'd rather put a hinge as TLC used to in Adventurer sets. This slope and the flag are issued for the first time in tan color, as far as I remember. The complete set : Final thoughts It's a rather cheap set (for a licensed one) with no useless cumbersome part but full of uncommon torsos. Cars will easily fit in any Lego city with minor changes. And I do appreciate to get a newly dressed IJ minifig. Hope you enjoy this review.
  20. But as ElisHelrot said, it IS already available !
  21. There. It's a toy shop where the AT-TE is sold EUR 98 whereas you can buy it for EUR 70 in the shop next door. They told me that this set was delivered by TLG a few days ago. The torso might be new. The pattern of the head has been seen in Spider-Man's Train Rescue an IJ Race for the Stolen Treasure, but this man is younger. His moustache is still brown.
  22. Fight on the Flying Wing Indiana Jones - Raiders of the Lost Ark - 2009 already available ! Set #7683 Theme: Indiana Jones - Raiders of the Lost Ark Year Released: 2008 (2009 officially) Piece Count: 385 (10 extras) Minifigs: 4 List Price: EUR 60 Regular middle-sized Indy box. Front : Back : The contents of the box : 3 bags, only one booklet, this stupid large wing in dark bley, a DSS and a hose. The DSS The booklet. Frontpage : First page : Random page : The set comes with 4 minifigs, in bag 1. Let me (re)introduce you Marion and indy the german pilot not seems so bad ? This one is the bad guy No ! please ... At the end of bag 1, you get this. A rather basic truck, four minifigs and 6 extra pieces. There is something odd with this truck, a lack of I don't know what. I would certainly add a bumper ... What you build with bag 2 : Note the extra blue pin. Bag 3 contains those 2 new printed windows. In on word : Brilliant ! Here it is at last ! Part of the top can be removed as thre is a hide behind the pilot : http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/daoudbaz.../7683-view2.jpg The plane look quite good. Except for the rear. The engines are a bit slim and the landing gear ... ouch ! The inclined nose is very well done As for the overall design Front view : The truck is something like unachieved: Final thoughts Except for the lower part of the engines and the front of the truck, this is a cleverly designed set, with dark green slopes and tiles and a beeeeaaauuutiful canopy. Of course, it's far away from the flying wing seen in the movie. But the plane is tough (tough enough to be played with by my two years-old daughter) and very light for its big size. Same problem for the price that I found a little bit oversized. Hope you enjoy this review.
  23. It has already been discussed in this thread It's a small promo set. My daughter got another one at TRU last saturday. Freely.
  24. IT ISN'T, if U write it KORREKTLY
  25. It means "Danger" in russian (Опасность)
