  1. Looks nice, I'll definitely be getting this one. Is the jet trooper a named character, or does he just have different helmet markings because he's a jet trooper?
  2. I'd be surprised if we got more information in a Direct, though they'll probably mention what we already know. I don't expect to see anything else official until set reveals, and probably nothing from Nintendo.
  3. Not to minimod or anything, but it seems like there's been a lot of pure speculation and/or wishlisting lately, might want to dial it back a bit... I'm pleasantly surprised that the first mosaic ended up being PT related, I would've expected Lego to lead with OT like the helmets. Bring on the prequel love!
  4. Not to mention there was never anything suggesting we were going to get Exegol at all.
  5. I smell a troll... Have to admit though "every Lego theme is selling terribly and the entire toy industry is dead" was hilarious. Anyway, I'd be really surprised if Mario was only in one or two expensive sets. Basing an entire theme around a certain gimmick and then locking it behind only a few of the highest-priced sets would be downright idiotic. If they did that it would have to be a mix of system and gimmick sets if they had any hope of it selling well. There needs to be a cheap set with Mario to ease buyers into the theme without going all in right away.
  6. Hasn't the Black Widow set already been released?
  7. Still holding out hope we might get some system sets, alternatively if the theme does well and gets more waves they could switch over like Minecraft did. Personally I find it bizarre that Lego and Nintendo would team up after all these years, but then the Mario figure ends up looking neither like Lego or what he looks like in the games at all. Not to mention some of the brick-built characters look more like stand-ins that would be made for an Ideas project or something.
  8. Yuck... I hope we get some normal sets too, or I'm probably going to have to pass on this theme entirely.
  9. I'm impressed with the bucket carrier, that's a really creative use of parts!
  10. Not necessarily, if D-0 can be revealed separately from the rest of the wave, the fourth set can easily be separate from the rest of the helmets. No need to panic yet.
  11. I was in the middle of writing that it has a 50/50 shot to be Peach's Castle instead of Bowser's, then I realized that it'd more likely be Bowser's because it has more potential for play features and a good excuse to make Bowser exclusive to the most expensive set. Hopefully we do get Bowser's Castle, that would be such a cool set.
  12. Of course they could've just made Mario, but they didn't. And it's not like Lego was approached by one company who said "hey, want to make themes for three of our properties?", these are three different properties made by three different companies. And to be completely blunt, so what? Who cares if Mario came out the same year as Trolls and Minions? If the theme is for a good franchise and the sets are good quality, why should it matter what else was released that year? The themes have nothing to do with each other besides the common denominator of licensed. I really don't get the "license bad" mentality that a lot of AFOLs seem to have and can only assume it either comes from a. fans who think it's a "wasted slot" that could've been used for a Classic Space reboot or something instead, but frankly it's not "we either get this licensed theme or the Classic Space reboot", they weren't going to do the reboot anyway, or b. fans with the "back in my day we didn't have these licensed themes and used our imagination" mentality, which is a stupid reason to deprive fans of sets based on properties they like. Lego isn't going to suddenly flip some switch and get rid of licensed themes when they just celebrated 20 years of Lego Star Wars and those themes are a big part of what's been keeping them relevant. I don't see a point in not being excited about it either. I'm not expecting 5 years of Mario sets or every side character from the sports games to appear, I'm just happy they're making sets at all and I'll take whatever they give me. If it sells well, they'll do more, if not, they won't, and I'll be disappointed but at least we got them at all.
  13. Nintendo's officially celebrated Mario Day on March 10th for the past few years because of that, it was definitely intentional.
  14. I'm honestly surprised by how many people are discounting this as a "pointless" theme and clumping it together with other recent themes like Trolls and Minions. Mario is the mascot of Nintendo and one of the most recognizable gaming characters in history, still appearing in multiple games a year almost 40 years since the release of Donkey Kong. The franchise itself is the best-selling video game series in history, yes, even beating Pokemon. Every single console released by Nintendo has had at least 3 Mario games in its top 10 best sellers. Super Mario Odyssey alone has sold over 16 million copies in 2 years. In contrast, Trolls and Minions are one and done waves for sequels to kid's movies that don't appeal to anywhere near as many AFOLs. To say that the theme is "pointless", "missed the train", "won't sell well", should've been Zelda/Pokemon/etc. instead, or throwing it in the bin with Trolls and Minions as a terrible decision by Lego is horribly ignorant in my opinion. Lego's definitely made a lot of questionable licensing decisions, but it's ridiculous to say a theme based on the best-selling video game franchise of all time featuring gaming's most recognizable character is one of them. Sorry for the rant, I've wanted this theme for a long time and it baffles me to see it receiving so much of this negative treatment. Just needed to get that off my chest.
  15. I'd bet we're going to get a different character like the teaser Mario for each one of those $10 sets. Obviously Mario, and Luigi's a safe bet for one of them, and some combination of Peach, Bowser, Yoshi, and Toad for the last two.
  16. I highly doubt Lego would make a set with characters in mismatched forms. Tigger and Eeyore are way out of scale with the rest of the characters, and Pooh is the only one I think the costume head kind of works for. They're either going to be all minifigs or all brick-built, or they'll do it some other way. I also wouldn't be surprised if we see some characters from the original submission get cut if they go for the all minifig route and don't put them all in the CMF to get new molds. I wouldn't get your hopes up on F-Zero getting the Lego treatment when F-Zero can't even get the Nintendo treatment nowadays. A tie-in for Smash Bros. would be nice to at least get Captain Falcon though.
  17. Fair enough, though I don't think redundancy is much of a concern for Lego as far as comparing minifigs to regular figures is concerned. I have to agree that Bowser and Donkey Kong would look really weird squashed into minifig form, I can only see them working as bigfigs. Depending on how far they branch out, Wario might be a bit hard to pull off too since he has really short legs but isn't really that short as a character compared to most of the cast, along with Waluigi unless they bring back the tall legs from the Toy Story theme.
  18. If we are getting gimmicky $10 sets, that just might explain it and I hope it's the case. $10 is really cheap when it comes to Lego and there's usually only one or two sets per price point in a wave for any theme. Not really sure what the $4 sets would be in that case though, I can't see them just selling bags of power-ups unless those are also app-integrated. I just want minifigs of the Mario cast that actually, you know, look like Lego. Does anyone still have the leaf price list?
  19. Is it possible that the weird screen figures are what's coming in the $3.99 sets and the rest of the theme is normal? Wouldn't be the first time Lego's done something where the cheaper sets of a theme are gimmicky (i.e. Nexo, Ninjago). I just find it hard to believe that Nintendo and Lego would finally come together only to produce something that doesn't really feel like Lego.
  20. I think you're kind of missing the point here, we don't want a Mario CMF just because we want Nintendo figures, we want a Mario CMF because we like Mario and Lego and want Nintendo minifigs. By that logic why make minifigs for any license. I guarantee a Mario or even just Nintendo-based in general CMF would sell like hotcakes.
  21. Do we know for sure this is the case, or was the price increase possibly only for the DC CMF? Turns out Wizarding World was postponed to next year and whatever's filling that slot now is unknown, but apparently still licensed as far as I'm aware.
  22. I'd really love a minifigure series, but I was under the impression we already knew the only other CMFs coming this year were series 21 and Wizarding World S2?
  23. Cautiously optimistic here. I've wanted this theme for years and I'm ecstatic that it's finally happening, but that teaser scares me. Hopefully we get standard-ish minifigs.
  24. In case anyone is still panicking about the fourth set, just a reminder that the same thing happened with DC last year. The UCS Batmobile took a while to be leaked/announced and passed several "significant" dates to the point where some people started assuming the set was cancelled. I wouldn't worry unless the April wave gets released and we still know nothing about it.
  25. I agree, Lego suddenly making an announcement for a set we didn't even know was coming is a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. Although I wouldn't be surprised with how long we've waited for the fourth April set it'll be more of a feeling of "finally", immediately followed by disappointment that it doesn't meet anyone's wild but unfounded expectations.
