  1. (If i follow what part you're describing) I believe those inner angled slopes come from the Wheel Arch 2 x 4 #41854 fender piece: http://brickset.com/parts/design-41854
  2. Full photos of the Lego 720s model (and the cool design desk that comes with it) posted here: https://drivetribe.com/p/RjCaFS1KQuqP3ckj1XzDkA?iid=Fwy8ffi0R2Gc2a1wgRTbQg
  3. Definitely scratching my head as to why... is it to get the tan color in the interior or is there some structural consideration? Builds up pretty well around a standard vehicle base which gets the fig into an equally low position. That said, the modified 2x6 plates with studs for the side panels is a good trick. Had an order cued at LSAH but dillidallied a couple days and now the GTs are backordered to mid-March.
  4. The Brothers Brick have posted a Ford GT set review: http://www.brothers-brick.com/2017/02/20/lego-speed-champions-2016-ford-gt-1966-ford-gt40-review/ Has some build photos for each of the cars, have to say the '66 GT40 is an odd one...
  5. Yea, hadn't expected that! Very interested in seeing how the build goes around it, and why... The various MOC builds of the GT40, including my own, were all based around the standard 4x10 vehicle base. Also some interesting stuff going on underneath the GT as well (those tooth plates). Nice to see the SC designs branch out from the relatively repetitive approach of the first few waves.
  6. Ah, cool... Was in TRU here in Nor Cal a few days ago, fully stocked shelves but no new Speed Champs. Soon I hope! Isn't retail for the single cars $14.99? The ones TRU did have were marked up to $19.99... :/
  7. Some of the kits are certainly more successful than others without stickers. Depends on how much the form and graphics of the car can be done in brick vs relying on stickers. The race cars kind of need them, for example the Ferrari 458 looks a bit odd without and the Porsche 919 is unrecognizable without them as its proportions are so out of whack. Otoh, I built and rendered and posted the AMG up at Mecabricks, I agree with @vectormatic that it looks pretty great sans sticks: http://mecabricks.com/en/models/87X2R19qaZY I have a GT40 on my shelf too which is all brick-built form and detail and looks great.
  8. You mean the not-at-all-even-close-to-Petronas F1 green? Yea, smh... As the premium SC set you'd think TLG would pull the handful of green parts in something more appropriate (like... Aqua or even Med Azure). Otoh, maybe Mercedes Petronas have gone bright lucky green this season, lol.
  9. Stumbled across a whole bunch of new images for the 2017 sets, including details of the rear 3/4 views for the AMG and Chiron. https://lekmer.fi/lego-speed-champions/ [ edit // appears as of ca. Feb 10 all the new SC sets and their image galleries have been removed from that site :( // ] I've been curious how TLG was going to handle the very-rounded rear end of the AMG and we can finally see it here; trans-red tiles set at an angle above a double-bow. The 30ΒΊ slopes stood up on the corners hints at some interesting snotery to get all those surfaces tucked into the rear end. Looks good to me. Click through their slideshow and you can see the build for the front end and how the connection for swappable noses has been handled. Apparently I'm limited to some insanely tiny file size for uploads so can only post one image, but you can click around that site and check out high-res galleries for the AMG, Chiron and the other '17 sets (except the rumored McLaren). Looks to me like the Chiron has some engine-area greebling nestled into those nice angles.
