  1. Looks fantastic! Love the AT-AT and AT-ST.
  2. LXF file is now posted at MOC Pages: http://www.moc-pages.com/moc.php/445647
  3. Thanks Forresto! Thanks! Yeah, I really didn't want to support this set by giving it a sale, but I'm a sucker for AT-STs I guess.
  4. I posted this over on Reddit, but I figure it might be appreciated here as well. My favorite Star Wars vehicle has always been the AT-ST. I was excited to see that a First Order update would be featured in TLJ, and even more so once I heard there would be a Lego set. However, like many fans, I was pretty disappointed in what Lego and Disney came up with for 75201. As lacking as the set was, I couldn't pass up those minifigs, so I resolved to buy it and build a head myself. I started out in LDD, mostly riffing on the construction techniques of 75153. There isn't a ton of reference available for the FO AT-ST yet, so I mostly used the image from the TLJ encyclopedia, and a few frame grabs from Battlefront 2. I would have loved to do the whole thing in Dark Blue Gray, but a number of the parts I utilized aren't available in that color, plus the bulk of 75201 is Light Blue Gray. I tried to find a balance between Light and Dark, and I think it is mostly effective. I've had generally bad experiences with BrickLink, so I placed a Bricks and Pieces order totaling around $50. Pieces arrived yesterday and I finally got the whole thing together last night. While I wish Lego would have given us a complete First Order AT-ST, I actually had a lot of fun designing and building this one. Hope you like it. Full Gallery Here: https://imgur.com/gallery/qdtG0
  5. I'm wondering if anybody has any insight on how Lego determines which sets go on sale, specifically with regard the Force Friday TLJ wave. I've noticed that here in the US, the same few sets (Kylo Tie Silencer, BB-8 and Resistance Transport Pod) have been consistently around 20% off at Target, Walmart and Toys R Us, but the rest of the wave has remained locked at MSRP (or in the case of TRU, a few dollars more). I have to assume that Lego is dictating to the retailers what they can and can't put on sale, but what is the reasoning? I've been holding off for the Resistance Bomber waiting for a sale, but it hasn't budged. It actually has a higher $ per piece ($.14) than Kylos Silencer ($.126) and BB-8 ($.09), so in my mind it would make more sense to put that one on sale and present a better value to the customer. Then again, it could all be random and I'm reading too much into it.
  6. This looks absolutely fantastic! Looking forward to seeing photos of the brick built model.
  7. Picked up 75154 TIE Striker for $34 at Target this weekend. I loved Rogue One, but was a bit indifferent toward the design of this ship. For that price I figured I could MOC a Tie Interceptor out of it, but I ended up doing the official build and really like it. Looks great next to the U-Wing and Scarrif sets.
  8. I recently moved across the country so I haven't bought a new set in awhile. As part of my packing I meticulously disassembled all of my sets and have been slowly rebuilding them all summmer, but I missed that feeling of a new set - slicing the tape on the box, opening the numbered bags along with the instructions and sorting the extra pieces into my collection. I know TLJ sets are right around the corner, but I got impatient and on a whim purchased The Phantom 75170. I do watch SW Rebels and have a few of the sets, but I was primarily buying this one for the Thrawn and Blind Kanan minifigs. Even knowing that, this was one of the most disappointing sets I've bought in a long time. Not only is it barely passable as the ship from the show; it is overly reliant on stickers, the cockpit had no hinge, the landing gear doesn't line up, and the lasers are difficult to trigger. Blech! Apologies for the gripe fest; I wish I had something better to say about it. If you are on the fence I would avoid this one unless you really want the figs. I guess the BL prices for Thrawn and Kanan probably make it a wash if you get the set on sale like I did. Maybe I'll check out some alternate build videos.
  9. You beat me to it! Just got my B&P order and updated all of my Hans with the new hair. They look fantastic! I had mixed feelings about the new wig at first, but I can't even look at the bowl head anymore. Now we just need a new carbonite mold...
  10. I've only gotten back into collecting within the last year, but I was hoping somebody here might remember - when the current Luke wig first came out, was it immediately available on Bricks and Pieces, or did it take awhile? I've been checking regularly for the new Han wig, hoping to update my minifigs with the new do. It has been out of stock since the release of the Death Star, and appearing again in the Desert Skiff hasn't improved availability. What I find odd is that the official Lego name (MINI WIG NO.117) isn't Han specific like Luke's (LUKE SKYWALKER WIG). It makes me think it will eventually be used outside of the Star Wars license, and theoretically more likely to appear on B&P.
  11. Today was the winter wave release in the US so I picked up the new Y-Wing and A-Wing. I would have gotten the Desert Skiff and possibly the Landspeeder (mostly for another Tusken Raider) but they were nowhere to be found. Toys R Us has most everything else - Microfighters, Yoda's Starfighter, Duel on Naboo, Phantom II, Battle on Scariff. I don't remember reading that those two sets were exclusives, but neither are listed on TRUs website, and nothing is up on Target yet.
  12. Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for confirming!
  13. I have a question about the braided hairpiece used on the most recent Hoth Leia minifig. I didn't have one of these in my collection, so I bought the keychain version and melted the metal post out. It left a pretty big hole in the hair piece, which I planned to replace with an order I was placing on Bricks and Pieces. When I got my order, I was surprised to discover that the replacement also had a hole, albeit smaller and cleaner than the keychain. I was wondering if anybody could confirm if this is how this piece is manufactured? I can't think of any other hair/wig pieces that have holes in them.
  14. Has anybody been able to recreate HURID 327? Not sure if the parts are available in the colors depicted in the game, but he looked pretty cool and movie accurate to me.
  15. Most Target stores that I have been in still have them at the very bottom of the impulse items in each checkout lane. Then again, maybe it got bumped for the new Batman polybag that is starting to show up?
  16. Nice find. I'm also curious to see if these builds are possible with this set. I have little to no interest in Yodas Starfighter, but I do need a Yoda minifigure and the second build looked a bit like Yodas hut.
  17. Randomly found a 75049 Snowspeeder on the shelf at my local Toys R Us this afternoon. I've been looking for a reasonable priced one on the secondhand market for months. Can't believe I found one for MSRP!
  18. Love it! What does the internal structure look like?
  19. JDbricks, I wasn't planning on collecting Force Awakens either, but trust Lego to make me go back on my promises! I got a deal on the Millennium Falcon last week, which I planned to (and did) convert back to an OT Falcon with Round Dish and some LBG Wedge Plates. But then Finn, Rey, Old Han, Chewie and BB-8 were getting lonely on the shelf by themselves, so yesterday I picked up 75139 Battle on Takodana on sale for $40. Not too bad for Kylo Ren, Finn, Maz and a couple of stormtroopers, and the build was actually pretty fun. I used the second Finn head to convert one of the Stormtroopers into FN-2187. I'll probably Bricklink Poe and Phasma - my shelf and wallet can't take too many more Force Awakens sets.
  20. Arguably 75060 is the definitive Lego interpretation of the Slave I, and very close if not exactly minifigure scale. I do not collect UCS sets and have not yet picked this one up - partly because of the price, but mostly due to the size and my limited display space. I don't have any version of Slave I in my collection, and I got to wondering if we would ever see another System scale Slave I, along the lines of 8097/6209 but with updated minifigures and building techniques. Not wanting to rehash any debates over what is true "minifigure scale", I'll just say that personally I am not super picky about size and always prefer a nice looking model to one that is precisely in scale. What does the community think of this? Is 75060 the last Slave I we ever need, or is there room in the line for a smaller version with comparable quality?
  21. Fabiwalker, that looks great! I wonder if the same could be done for Han from Tyderium... Did you just use the Snowtrooper Skirt as a template?
  22. My favorites would be either Jabba's Palace (9516) for the excellent minifigures, or Imperial Shuttle Tyderium (75094) because it was fun to build and looks great on display. Least Favorite is probably Kanan's Speeder Bike (75141) which I mostly just bought for the Kanan minifigure and extra blasters. The bike is so out of proportion that I decided not to even finish building the set. It will probably just end up in my parts bins.
  23. Finally found a good price on 75105 Millennium Falcon. Target in the US has been clearing their Lego shelves, presumably to make room for the winter wave. I managed to find a store that still had a Falcon clearanced down to 104.99, plus a coupon of $25 off Toy purchases of $100. So I got it for $79.99, which isn't too bad for what looks to be a great set on its way out. Not quite the legendary $35 Walmart clearance, but I'm pleased.
  24. Looks great! I agree that the grey looks better and more accurate. Is the Gungan head a Disney Infinity reference?
  25. This looks fantastic! Definitely one of the most appealing I've seen. Out of curiosity, are there a lot of rare/hard to find parts used? I've had mixed luck with Bricklink, and would probably only attempt this if I could find most of the parts on Pick a Brick/Bricks and Pieces.
