Better post some progress before it too 'complete' Chassis is looking a bit rough and colourful at the moment as I build the mock-up because I shortened the wheelbase by using 6L links instead of 9L as I now have settled on a theme for the truck which is a Kei style small truck with ‘Skeletor’ subtle tones (title change squeezes in kei in the name just because ) The truck body itself should end up being roughly 1:15 to suit the tyres which are roughly 1:15 (going by typical monster truck measurements) hopefully removable from the chassis. Steering was harder to implement so I have got the steering through the drive gear but have had to lift the input on the axles to make it work with the long travel suspension (8T missing at the moment). Not sure this blue 20T gear can be legally driven like this? Will swap to the other diff with newer red gear if so but don’t want to use it because its red and will stand out ☹ Some subtle 'Skeletor' vibes (hopefully) with the headlights. Aiming for a purple cargo tray on the back etc. Shorter wheelbase -

I’m not getting monster truck vibes from the buggy one to be honest. The body looks way too big compared to the wheels and the driver seat? It looks like a typical sand dune buggy thing. I may be wrong as it’s a digital build and hard to tell scale perhaps? I would also go for the pickup style which is more associated with monster trucks I suppose, but also that front body work is looking quite big? Need to see a real build that’s more complete for better scale perhaps. Thats just my view of what denotes a monster truck anyway -

I think they will be a popular choice combined with using the large 107mm tyres as they fit the scale very well. 2 of them each side is still quite soft too. -

A bit of motivation to build after a long absence so I will try for an entry here. As said in another thread I started this a couple weeks ago when informally settled on the monster truck theme. Theme of build is not finalised yet as I just want to concentrate on chassis and axles at the moment. First is the axles as they always are challenging to build and thought I would challenge myself even further to use the suspension arms from the McLaren MP4/4 combined with the wheel hubs from 8386 as I had both lots sitting around and together they make a nice slim looking axle 3-4 studs high trying to replicate dimensions more accurately from usual Monster trucks chassis. The arms were a little hard to form lock in place cause of their design but I cant pull them out in any direction now. It’s hard to see but had to use 8 long system type steering rack setup for very slight toe in to keep the wheels from doing the usual sloppy, loose, splaying outward thing when pushed forward. Slight Akerman affect at full lock. 4 link suspension with the suspension arms creates a very nice appealing look I think 😊 I’ll need a few more of these long gold shocks but they fit and feel nice at the right sort of scale. I am a bit disappointed in the lower connection of them to the axle though as it’s a bit big and clunky looking but can think of anything else at the moment. Yesterday I started working on a minimal ‘internal’ structure chassis that I can later hang a faux tube frame (of axles) and body work on (hopefully) how it sits at the moment reminds me of a typical monster truck so happy so far and happy to be building again. -

Monster Jam truck idea, does that mean everyone builds a Megaladon or Gravedigger () ? or preferably just 'build your own custom 4x4x4' with certain tyres (me prefer the openness of the later) Another idea that might be popular, but again it is car themed (have entries been declining lately?), is build, or rather replicate, a Hot Wheels car in Technic, one of the crazy Hot Wheels of course not just a real life Hot Wheels. Plenty to choose from over the years. -
I post this with hesitation as time is limited in more ways than one and still a lot to work out. I also started the green mower for a previous TC (and promptly withdrew) so hope that it is an acceptable entry if I do get to enter? Blue will change colour as I do not like the patterned fenders. The single engine and cutting blade is ‘powered’ by the rear wheels when pushing the mower through the elastic band. the green mower also turns when you push it but has a clutch to disengage the blade rotation (single piston still turns) as per some real life mowers like this design. 1/6 scale to suit 12” action figures

Hope you can re-link the photos here. Its a beauty! (I followed the Lego car blog link) -
I was following the results all week because I was excited to be consistently coming 3rd by a couple of points. But then on Sunday, literally the last voter bumped me out to 4th! So hands up who was that last voter on Sunday?…😅 Anyway of course well done to winners and to be honest I’m surprised my quirky build did so well. Thanks for another TC where I’m pushed to finish something 👍
