  1. Here's what comes out of my Isla de Muerta box Should I call Lego and ask for the gold-pearl pieces
  2. Thanks for the review! The price sticker screams B&N?
  3. Here's what to feel. 1 The Graduate - diploma, hat. 2 Pharaoh Queen (Cleopatra) - snake, skirt (easy identification just like Kimono Girl) 3 London Guard - rifle, Marge-Simpson hair (easy identification) 4 Boxer (Manny Pacquiao) - torso with gloves, helmet (hard to identify) 5 Dwarf - wooden axe handle, axe blades 6 Mafia Gangster - pistol, violin case 7 Cavewoman - bone, Flintstone bat 8 Woodcutter - axe (like hockey stick of the Hockey Player), baseball cap 9 Clown - pie, hat (hard to identify), short legs 10 Aerobics Instructor - boombox 11 Detective (Sherlock Holmes) - magnifying glass, hat 12 Godzilla - back tail, headpiece 13 Zookeeper - banana, monkey 14 Gladiator - sword, helmet 15 Eskimo - fishing rod, rope (easy identification) 16 Snowboarders - snowboard (easy identification) I know and we know we're experts now when it comes to feeling CMF pack and identifying them. The trick it isolate a piece that would ultimately identify the minifig. The usual thing to do is to find a small piece, which is easy to isolate (and then identify) since it moves more freely inside the pack than the bigger pieces. Example: banana, bone, magnifying glass, axe handle (wand), and axe blades. Another trick is to find a big/long identifying piece. Example: fishing rod, snowboard, rifle, snake, and skirt just like in Kimono Girl.
  4. Thanks for another great review! I specially like the classification to low/medium/high probabilities, this way I know which one to get first I'm glad that the London guards, Sherlock Holmes, and Manny Pacquiao are not rare. Is this the series with more female minifigs?
  5. i see. i thinking something like a hoodie
  6. great review. superb photos i was thinking about the price (C$15), say $3 for each minifig just like CMF, and another $3 for the tree, mushroom, transparent blue pieces, not bad eh. but considering i already have harry and hagrid.. so it's just the tree and the 2 other minifigs. i have the freeing dobby set too and i think this set is better, with all the tree-sets coming out i wished there're more leaves, or a headpiece for the white minifig.
  7. not another fishing or skater dude, please why not collectible animals ha lego
  8. My take on this is this: We should respect each other's opinion on the set, be it positive or not. People who like this set, praise this set, gives its pro's, the good stuffs. People who don't like this set, say why they don't like it, giving the cons. At the end of the day, in my opinion, this is good because we see both sides. We decide if it's a good buy or should we pass. If people only see praises, then we may not see what's lacking, what needs to be improved, what TLG may consider when creating sets. We don't think alike, and let's celebrate that. As for my opinion on the set, I think this is a good set. The pro's being the animals and of course the mill's mechanism. Though I must say that the barn (compared to the building in MMV) is small and plain And I expect more on the minifigs. I think when you finished building this set, you should not put it side by side with the MMV, because at some aspects (look/design) they don't jive. I guess we could insert the question "Where's this village at?" here. And I agree with the addition of the fence, just like in 7684. Who doesn't like it with the fences? Will I buy this set? I'll check first if it disturb my sleep pattern Thanks for the review!
  9. Another great review! thanks for sharing. I was about to make a review of this set too One way of getting the Jack Sparrow minifig with the hat without buying the larger PofC sets (London Escape, Whitecap Bay, and QAR)
  10. Okay. I just checked my Jack Sparrow and my Series 2 Lifeguard. Neck printing Jack - white printing on front Bikini Babe - no printing Inside Arm Jack - No indentation but has the word 'Lego' on it (written in Chinese ) Bikini Babe - Rectangular indentation with some numbers Top Waist Jack - 'Lego' printed but in a slightly bigger font size than the one on the Bikini Babe I agree, maybe only the fortune cookie head piece is made in China. It looks great though.
  11. I notice this 'loose hips' too on my Series 2 Mini-figures. I hope this doesn't worsen to 'loose lip' (sank ships). Again, I agree with this (feels lighter), and the yellow is of a different shade. Observed in Series 2 Minifigures. And now, as I photograph my PofC 30131 set, I noticed this from the back of the polybag 'Components made in DENMARK, HUNGARY, CHINA, MEXICO, and the CZECH REPUBLIC.'
  12. Thanks for sharing. At first glance, just looking at the box art at a local store, my impression is 'Oh, nice cannibals'. Then the price forced me to put it back on the shelf, convince myself I don't need it, and start pushing my shopping cart. But now after seeing this review, and looking at the details of the other structures and pieces of this set, it appeals to me more. I hate this feeling.
  13. I want to join as well. I just made my first thread here, not really a review but I wanted to share my reviews to the lego community.
  14. i guess architecture/interior design/civil engineer.. but mostly just an unending lego addiction will do.
  15. Thanks for sharing! I like this set. I like the horses, the king, the forest part. This set is a sequel to the set 7947 Prison Tower Rescue.. apparently the King's rescue team failed on their mission of retrieving the Princess, let's call her Cinderella. Thus the King himself set off for a journey on his carriage to bring back his princess but on their way deep inside the forest they got ambushed.. Now this carriage is not really that of the King but of her princess Cinderella.. Yes, I agree it's too pricey for US$40 (C$50).
  16. This impulse set was released in UK as a promo (free) for a newspaper. I bought it from an eBay UK seller together with another impulse set Jack Sparrow's Boat. I guess the reason why TLG didn't put more effort into this set is basically it's just a promo set, nothing really special, just a taste of the Pharaoh Quest theme. I thought I'd write a review of this set here but there's really not much to say.. except that the front design of the rover reminds me of the firetruck from the Fire Brigade set.
  17. Hello Guys, This is my very first review here in Eurobricks. Enjoy! As they say, a nice car takes you to places! Number: 30091 Name: Desert Rover Theme: Pharaoh's Quest Year released: 2011 Pieces: 34 Minifig: 1 Notes: Promotional set given away with The Sun newspaper in the UK on 20th May 2011 Links: Brickset Bricklink Packaging Nothing special on the packaging. No shiny gold bar or gold coins , typical polybag set. At the back it says 'Components made in Denmark, Hungary, Mexico, and the Czech Republic. Pieces The above photo shows the (folded) instruction sheet, pieces for the Desert Rover vehicle, and two pistols. Instruction The instruction is a small piece of paper printed on both sides. The front page shows steps 1-6, while the back page shows steps 7-9, and the rest of Lego Pharaoh's Quest sets. At the upper right-hand corner of the back page is a watermark of a mummy holding a snake. The Mini-figure Here is Jake Raines. I call him 'The Gunslinger'. Details of the minifig showing front, back, and side. One issue I have with this minifig is how to place the hair piece so that it works with his sideburns. The Desert Rover For me the best piece of this set is the front detail of desert rover. It reminds me of the fire truck in Fire Brigade, and Indy's car in Shanghai Chase. The above photo shows the front and side of the rover, and the extra pieces. Back side of the rover. I like the rear wheel cover. Completed Set Lego Pharaoh's Quest 30091 Desert Rover Conclusion Design 8/10 - The design is good. I'd say it worked for it's purpose. Let's keep our expectation low for promotional polybags. It blends well with the rest Pharaoh's Quest sets. Parts 8/10 - As mentioned above, I like some pieces, in particular the Car Grille. Which according to peeron.com doesn't appear much on sets. Build 8/10 - Simple build as expected on polybag sets. Minifigs 8/10 - I like the Jake Raines minifig, the same guy appears in Scarab Attack. I like the facial expression, printed torso (front and back), and the sideburns. Playability 8/10 - As you will see in the bonus image below, Jake uses his vehicle to his advantage. Price - I will not give a rating for the price. But if you're interested, I got 2 of this set from eBay UK for GBP 1.79 each and another set 30131 (GBP 3.50) plus GBP 4 shipping for all three sets. So it's good better to have a British friend . Overall I like the Desert Rover in this set, and all the vehicles on Lego Pharaoh's Quest sets. The same goes for the minifig. It's a polybag set, so really there's not much to expect, other than it gives a taste of the Pharaoh's Quest theme. For that purpose I think this is a good set (I just bought 2 eh ). If you're going to compare the rover to other polybag vehicles, it's not that bad. Bonus Image Love at first sight.
  18. When is the (North American) release date for the sets Big Bentley Bust Out and Spy Jet Escape? and how much is the US MSRP?
  19. Great review. I like the narrative and the humor. And for pointing out that Harry and Rubeus are getting many. In my case, I started with the Freeing Dobby set - I got Harry, Daddy Malfoy, and Dobby (who got arrested by the way after being freed). Then I got the set Hagrid'd Hut - I got another Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Rubeus. And I thought I'd stop here, since my goal is just to get the main characters. Then I got Hogwart's Express coz I thought the Ron-Harry tandem is so cool, and cooler when not in their uniform while riding a light blue car, and the hair piece of Ginny is nice. At this point, it's tempting to get The Burrow and complete the Weasleys with Molly and Arthur (all with the same hair color). But also, this Forbidden Forest set and complete the Malfoys. But if I get this set I will have 2 Rubeus, and 3 Harry though I like the tree, and the 2 other minifigs.
  20. share us the photos without the stickers. i'd love to see it that way. thanks!
  21. Thanks for a very nice review! I like the comparison with the movie characters, of how faithful (or not) Lego captured them. My first impression with this set is, it's one and half cars. Counting Guido as half. The price C$20 is the same if I get 8200 McQueen and 8201 Mater sets. So I have been thinking what are the strengths of this set for such tag price? The answer is as you said, they're cute. The cutest maybe in all Cars 2 sets. This one also goes well with set 8423 if there's a buy one get one (half price) sale.
  22. any reviews yet of the set 'escape at sea'?
