It depends entirely on what direction the theme of the story would take. If we had another year of Mechs vs Beasts, I'd be entirely uninterested. If we see the return of the minifigures, I want it to either be in the form of vehicles, playsets, or something else in a similar range (for example, spaceships to introduce a space aspect) The main problem is that there would still be a lack of parts that the larger figures utilize; Helmets, weapons, hero cores, etc. While Chima can provide parts in new colors or new armor plates, it is stylized for those figures. A crocodile head isn't nearly as useful as Core Hunters head, for example. Of course I'd be interested in seeing both co-exist. We could have a main line of heroes and villains, then a few playsets on the side of a relatively higher pricepoint, similar to how Bionicle had it. To cross the themes, there could always be a regular sized figure thrown in to the playsets, like a large villain or a "super sized hero" Similar to If I had to chose, I would vote to out the minifigures and keep the contraction sized heroes. At the same point, I would like to have enough parts to actually make use of some of the stuff we've had this year. if another year means our missing figures, more canopy and seat colors, and possibly some more inspiring large creature heads, I don't think I would be all too disappointed.

News The LEGO Movie: 70810 MetalBeard's Sea Cow
VBBN replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The random photo of the net is rather strange But this looks neat, certainly evokes the pirate theme better than the other Metalbeard set did. Won't be picking this up as it's too expensive for my tastes and I prefer standard pirate themes and not this style, but it looks to be an interesting build and I'm looking forward to seeing reviews. Also I must say, that smaller Metalbeard looks a lot better than the larger mech in my opinion.- 158 replies

...That combat machine posing YOU HAD ONE JOB But nothing really to add here, though was I the only one who got excited at first when I looked at that picture of Queen Beast because I thought Furno was Nex? (The camera quality makes the red look orange) My likely pickups; -Tunneler Beast -Crystal Beast Eh. other than that theres nothing incredibly useful parts wise for my uses. Might focus on Chima for parts, most of my funds will be going to Transformers this year it seems

I only want to see minifigs return if it means the return of system based playsets, otherwise Lego had better tackle a cool theme. Post apoc, space, something other than another year of "mindless beasts"

It is an actual source, that was the figure published by Lego (The Brick was aimed at a financial basis of customers, to talk about what is new and developing, giving future outlooks on the company, and discussing shareholdings, etc.) Though I do wonder how exactly they figure these numbers. How do they know a kid is buying a set if it's going on the parents credit card? My guess is they make a hypothetical function to determine that for every x number of people there are x number of AFOLs. They most likely figure that sets aimed more toward afols (high price tag sets, Architecture, etc) are meant more for AFOLs themselves. If an adult buy a 100$ playset for their kid, or a 100$ set for parts for themselves, Lego can't accurately figure that number. Just to keep things more focused on the discussion at hand here, this is the reason Lego constantly recycles it's themes. (I'm most likely about to repeat a bit of what has been said previously here) If Bionicle did come back, they would be targeting a completely different generation of kids, as that would be their major sales target. It would have to have a story that was easy to pick up on, and the sets would likely continue along with the style that has been established by Hero factory (the "buildable action figure" as opposed to whatever they considered Bionicle). I think lego is more likely to explore a new theme instead of reverting to the old, however this has of course been disproven in other themes. Town sees the return of Police or Fire almost every other year, star wars constantly rehashes old sets, and some themes are brought back from the dead (space police, aqua raiders, Agents) and then there is a rare exception such as benny's classic space ship, which gives fans of the classic era a nod, not an entire theme though unfortunately. So While I hope Bionicle were to come back, logically guessing i would say something new will come, and will replace Hero Factory once they believe the target audience is no longer as interested in it. A rather obvious statement, but something to keep in mind

It was released in an issue of The Brick in 2010. And it looks to stay at around that number Edit: according to the article that puts the AFOL worth at about 90million. I'm curious to know if the monetary amount has increased or if that has stayed relatively the same as well

To be fair they are new for 2014, they look to be popping up in a lot of summer themes. They seem like they work fairly well, so I don't think I'll mind them, though with the already limited arm poseability of these figures i'm hoping the weapon doesn't look too ridiculous when wielded.

I just see the SW blaster and the standard gun from the first wave with the minifig binoculars attached to it, not sure if those were what you were seeing.

I changed the title to avoid potential spoilers. I haven't yet seen the movie but I did here about this elsewhere, nice to see they are referencing action figure themes. Would have loved to have a prominent action figure character in the movie, but there's always a sequel I suppose.
-
It's certainly an interesting thought, though my guess is that they stick to strictly standard minifigures; If they did other themes we would likely have seen friends "minidolls" or other such things being thrown in to the mix.

No, I mean the Hasbro toyline for Transformers themselves. With that said KreO does make buildable Transformers, however that's not everyone's cup of tea.
-
As a resident fan of Transformers, even the "baysplosion movies" excite me, as it means a new toyline and a fun midnight release. I can't always take some of the choices Bay has made seriously, and I struggle to respect Revenge of the Fallen, but I enjoy the movies. Anyway Up until this point it's been purely rumors and speculation, and guesses as to who characters are and what the storyline will be. As expected, the 30 second superbowl spot really doesn't help much in that speculation, but first here is the trailer for those who haven't seen it The CGI Is very preliminary Now a couple things can be gathered from this [POTENTIAL SPOILERS] I know most of this discussion is taking place over at TFW, but might as well have some chat about it here as well.

That game was over before second half even started. Glad the Seahawks won, I'm not a fan of the Broncos and I couldn't control my laughter every time Seattle intercepted. And when they knocked the ball out of Peyton's hands before he could even throw you could tell the frustration was getting to them (I am glad they at least scored something, otherwise it would have been even more embarrassing to them than it already is). And what was Manning thinking when he just launched the ball straight up into the air?

Well the caccoons seem a bit big in comparison to the beasts set wise as compared to the episode so you may be better off using the standard sized caccoon with the revamped queen.

Sounds like me in the Bionicle days, I may or may not have had 8 vakama metrus

Thanks for another great Xmas Raffle Copmike!

Well obviously budget wise I'm doing pretty good as far as HF 2014 is concerned, but the summer wave I'm really only interested in crystal beast and (maybe) the surge machine if it has a good amount of blue parts. Other than that I really don't see myself buying the rest, unless they went on a decent sale in which case I'd grab the anchor machine (I refuse to call it flea machine) and queen beast for parts.
-
That truck far exceeds what I was expecting. It looks fantastic! I'm loving the new black and trans blue scheme(trans light blue really is hitting hard this year) It's stealthy and creates a very cool look, and the truck itself has a very classic feel to the inside. The original truck was huge, but this one just screams with cool little details, and I'm even liking the extremely simple vehicles. A guaranteed purchase from me. Looking forward to seeing more

Lego we need to have a talk about your wing construction... With that said, too much gold. Though the smooth armor add on piece looks cool, I hope we see that in new colors in future waves of HF. And all of this Trans blue is getting crazy; not a bad thing of course
-
Oh crystal beast, you are bought. Your glorious parts are bought. Hard to see the walkers but the Surge machine looks underwhelming, the whole backside is seriously lacking. However, the blue jumpers look neat and the cacoons are a fantastic addition. As for a red jumper with blue back, it looks like some sets aren't posed with jumpers, though it shouldn't be too hard to customize your own. My guess is all of the summer sets will end up having blue jumpers, or so I'd hope.
-
No that is midway through the month. And I'll have to check out the parts available, might really help with some of the things Bl overcharges for. Edit; They don't tell you how much it costs until you place the order?
-
I'm really hoping that is a trans orange canopy on the drilling machine, but I was tricked with that illusion on the Jet Machine so I'm not confident..
-
Well now everyone can see how many times I edit a post before I'm happy with it (look at both of your guys' quotes versus my post) But yeah, Action Figure themes are especially a nightmare for proper construction, and let's not think about the posing they have done. Part of me wonders if they are in a rush, but you would think they try to make the sets look as appealing as possible
-
Hopefully the setup is decent (in 2012 they had some terrible angles for photos) and the hosts construct the sets properly..
