  1. My dad drove a unimog in the mid 70s when I was a wee nipper so 8110 was a must-have for me. That little article really takes me back.
  2. It's probably also easier/cheaper to manufacture without the teeth if they're never going to be used. Lot's of little teeth like that can lead to more failed units coming out the molds, if plastic doesn't flow into one of the little gaps for example.
  3. This is golddust! Hang on, let me get my notebook...
  4. Cute, in a "target detected. Destroy" kind of way Can I ask, what is the software being used to control it? Not Mindstorms? Awesome game, and awesome model
  5. TechnicBRICKs had an interview with Nathan Kuipers a few months ago where he talks a little about Lego's internal design processes and B Models. (Nathan seems to specialise in one set MOCs) Part II talks most about the B models.
  6. Thanks. Final 10 seconds of the video shows one transmitter controlling the chassis. That was what I was looking for. With one transmitter and one model, running on a single channel, I can control two functions with a single transmitter and single receiver. Sorted.
  7. Agreed! I had to do a double-take at first.
  8. I'd like to add some basic remote control functions to my models. I currently have the 8052 Container Truck and 8070 Supercar, so two battery boxes and two M-motors. I just want to add basic drive and steering functionality for now. I'm looking at the 8884 IR Receiver and 8885 IR Remote Control but getting a bit confused between channels and IR outputs. How many controllers and receivers do I need? Also any additional advice? I remember reading somewhere that the 8879 Speed Remote Control was difficult to control so intend to stick with the basic 8885. Would it be worth picking up an XL-Motor also? Is there a set would make collecting the parts better value than buying individually (8043 being beyond my budget for now ) ? Thanks!
  9. What's the set number of the truck/crane again? I might pop into the Hamleys in Jenners in Edinburgh and see what they have. (I have the backhoe but I'm trying to keep it a few months so I have something new between now and the Unimog ) edit: OK, got it, 8258
  10. Now that's clever! I like that a lot
  11. Perfect, many thanks. First effort Parts were "Tyre 37 18R" which was right next to the one I'd chosen, blind! and "Car Steering Wheel Large" which there's no way I'd have found on my own. Thanks again.
  12. I'm just starting using MLCad and am trying to build something relatively simple, a replica of the new off-roader, 8066. I'm a bit stuck trying to find a couple of parts, specifically the small steering wheel, listed as 4211701 in the build docs and the small balloon tyres, listed as 4506553. I think I've downloaded and scanned the latest Unofficial parts but am still struggling. I don't know if they're there and I just can't find them; or they're not and I don't know how to know that they're not. Can anyone give a few pointers on how to install a specific part if you only know its part number? And how to find it in the MLCAD parts inventory list/tree once installed? Thanks.
  13. I'm missing a single piece for my 8070 supercar. I've ordered a spare part from lego.com and the response email does confirm that they weigh the boxes as part of their quality procedures. That implies they assume to know exactly which extra parts are included in a set also?
  14. Thank You! I could picture the bike in my head but couldn't recall the name. I was incredibly jealous when my brother got it as a 5th birthday present and was far too young for it You can see the piece on the box image. Jan, there were earlier versions of the bucketloader. I had one from when the minifigs didn't have articulated arms and legs. This one, or even earlier
  15. The UK Argos exclusive period must be up so that's mine ordered from shop.lego.com! It's with the courier now! <anticipation!>
  16. I'm in Scotland, and being tight I want to use a gift card as part purchase. Only you can't use that on-line, and I've yet to see a local store have it in stock or "reserve for collection". Thanks for the info, I'll just keep my eyes peeled.
  17. Apologies if this has been covered earlier, but is 8070 an Argos exclusive in the UK? I see it's not available on lego.shop.com or Amazon for the UK. Unfortunately Argos' stock doesn't seem to be very regular either. Anyone have any informed news/opinion on whether they are likely to get more at a later date and also have them in-store as opposed to on-line only? Many thanks!
