LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
betaplayer replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
However, a lot of ships which are or will be in Andor, overlap with rogue one or other classic Star Wars media. X-wings, Tie fighters, U-wings... Andor is a good excuses to re-release a variant of these ships with some much wanted figures. We'll also see figures like K2SO and B2EMO re-appear. Such sets wouldn't suffer that much from the lack of interest from kids imo? -

After the Ahsoka wave and the critical success Andor was, I would hope they do a similar 3 set wave for Andor, with at least the Fondor. Their are plenty of (classic/Rogue one) characters to cover. -

I agree it's wanted, but I would think they would save that for an Andor set? He's bound to appear there again. (Maybe we get to see that black/grey x-wing in action... would make for a very cool set, with Saw and Tubes imo.) -

Strong agree! I'll take an affordable playset, aimed at young kids everyday over an expensive, collectors set. We're old enough to MOC/mod our own stuff exactly the way we want it, let's make sure kids can afford the set and have some fun. -

Hot take: that could be actually good for Star Wars. There is some fatigue among casual viewers, I'm afraid. Would be good to let it rest for a while and could be an opportunity for Lego to give us some interesting/ more 'unexpected' sets. I think they should delay 75374 Skeleton Crew Ship, since releasing it a year ahead of the series, doesn't seem the best idea? It will probably sit on shelves? -

With how sparingly Lego seems with playsets these days, my guess is there will be only 2 of these sets, at least in short term? My guess would be no battlepack so to boost sales of the Chimaera? I hope to be wrong though! The show may not be perfect, but design-wise it's some of the most interesting Star Wars content so far. I just hope a Chimaera doesn't cannibalize the set slot for a Fondor Haul Craft -

This. The Ferrix set is retiring and I'm really in doubt if I should buy it or wait until Lego hopefully makes the Fondor, Luthen's ship. I really hope they make a play scale version of it, could indeed have nice play features. But Andor is my favorite show, but is also a rather 'mature' show, so I'm unsure if they'll ever make such a large playset for it. -

That's an important nuance of course: the price in Europe is more or less fixed at MSRP since it's an amazon exclusive here. If it could be found significantly cheaper, I wouldn't doubt much either, but at this price, considering everything else, I find it hard to justify personally. Especially with e-wing set (which I love) on sale for less than €80 or the T6 below €60. -

Nah I agree somewhat. At first I really wanted it, but looking a reviews and more pictures... one could easily MOC a better Ghost. I would like to try using a 6 wide canopy, like the one used in 75573 from avatar for the cockpit? Seems more accurate size wise, even for a play-scale? I also think Hera is bound to reappear in another set someday, maybe even a microfighter like Mando's. She and Chopper are fan favorites and the Ghost is bound to get more screen time in this. -

I'm generally spoken more fond of smaller sets, easier to afford for kids, but I guess it comes down to sets getting sold at different price ranges. Having 3 sets at 50 - 70 dollars/euro's, isn't ideal compared to a more even distribution of ~ 70 - 100 - 160 The main criticism/concern I have is that they could pump out way more playsets in general. Gabby's dollhouse, a television series aimed at an audience who's barely old enough for Lego, gets more sets than Ahsoka, shouldn't that be concerning to all of us? Is Star Wars not appealing to kids anymore? I get Star Wars is many things now, and things like Andor don't get a huge wave (although I think a Fondor with a certain R1 character would have outsold the Justifier ridiculously easily). But Ahsoka is literally the spin-off of an animated series. If any of the live action series up to now should actively target a younger audience, it's this one. But to me, that also requires a sizable presence in the toy aisle. -

Also according to brickmerge, the Droideka is 65 euro instead of 60 as reported by promobricks https://www.brickmerge.de/75381-1_lego-star-wars-lego. Edit: seem more sets are more expensive: the Tantive IV is 80 instead of 70. Piececount is 654. The Falcon is 85 euro for 921 parts Boonta Eve Podrace Diorama is 80 euro instead of 70, 718 parts. -

Ooeeh, that's actually quite nice imo! We usually get more value out of a playset compared to a diorama. (Imo there are already too many adult oriented sets. We need to keep this theme sustainable long term, therefore should be enough affordable sets mainly for kids. We adults are competent enough to create our own dioramas out of a playset, I would think.) -

My first thoughts as well... But then I started wondering what else it could be? Last May they did Disney, I feel like HP is a bit overdone now as CMF? Marcel gets one this year already... Or could it really be Star Wars? Only alternative is an one-off like the muppets? Those tend to be released around May-april. -

I can't be the only one noticing Lego tends to spread out quite a lot of the licensed releases/reveals these days? Probably to keep the hype train going all year round? (And hoping our wallets can swallow it more easily :p) -

I'm gonna be disappointed if it's actually Yoda's starfighter I really have trouble believing they're actually going to do Yoda's starfighter. It's so uninteresting? Especially with this 4+ set on shelves: -

I would think more than 1 set this time around. Season 1 was critically acclaimed (rightly so), so I expect viewership to actually grow somewhat. We're bound to get a Fondor Haulcraft, but that would be a 100-160 euro/dollar set at system scale. So I guess that leaves room for at least a cheaper 30-60€/$ set as well. As we near the events of Rogue one, we'll also see more recognizable ships and vehicles, a.k.a. stuff that sells well... -

I agree, especially the nose and forward fuselage look 'flat'. Especially if you consider the complex angles a lot of MOCs manage to achieve at Minifigure scale. -

Is there any confirmation that we won't get any droids in that set? Seems weird to me not to get any bad guys/droids, similar to the 501st "battlepack" from 2020, especially considering the price and low piece count of that set.
