Just makes this one more valuable then :) I've also got printed arms on the way for the suits hanging in the lockers at the bottom. That'll finish it off.

I've started collecting pieces of my own for this project. Taken a bit of work to the LDD file to reign in the costs. I've swapped the Dark Orange to Red for the exterior color. changed the Sand Green to Green for the interior basement colors (and all sand green swapped out) Had to replace some of the 1x2x3 window pairs with 1x4x3 windows. Also replaced a couple hundred of the 1x1 with 1 stud on 1 side with 1x2 with studs on 1 side. Bricklink orders being placed, I'll post here as things go, very excited about this. P.S. can't wait to park ECTO-1 inside :)

Yea, lots of pics, and the LXF file but no instructions. No worries, I'll just make my own once I'm done modifying it

I like what you've done with the design. I've got eh LXF file and been playing with it for a couple of months now, thinking about building my own. Did you say you had instructions too? I haven't seen those. Thanks

Thread necro, but the MB one is on sale: http://slickdeals.net/f/6717964-mega-bloks-halo-forward-unto-dawn-97117-toy-r-us-for-161-and-ebay-toys-r-us-free-ship?p=66092238&utm_source=dealalerts&utm_medium=em-i&utm_term=44384&utm_content=u93075&utm_campaign=tu-9999#post66092238 I know it's not Lego, don't shoot me, but it really is an amazing set. I've bough the MB on, and going to build and display it next to my Lego version, I'll update here when I'm done.

I started out with their instructions (why re-invent the wheel I say), then re-did it with using less parts, and mine doesn't break apart like theirs does. If I've done it right, you can see the pics I just took here: http://www.flickr.co...s/11191734@N04/ I couldn't help but add one with the Master Chief and Cortana, comment is something like "You don't belong here, this is our ship now..."

Ok, the build was completed last night, I'm going to try and take real pictures tonight. Also of note, I did make instructions, and built it from them. (353 steps currently). Big props to those that create instructions, what a huge investment in time. I probably should have started with a smaller model to create instruction with to learn the tools, but oh well. I built it first in LDD, then MLCAD and used LPub to create the instructions. I'm playing with POVRay now to render some nice images. Brad

welp, finished it in LDD. Next steps would be to review the inventory to make sure I didn't use rare parts. 3120 parts for me, I think the MB one has 2917 or so...

Since I love Halo, and I love Lego, I thought it was time to try something bold. As we all know, a competitor of Lego has the rights to the Halo theme. They recently released the PDF for their flagship, the Forward Unto Dawn (97117) I thought to my self, why not see if I can use that to create it in Lego? Things are going well so far... VS the PDF: Obviously, not everything converts, but most does. Once i get it all in LDD, then I'll look at the parts list and see about affordable replacements (make sure there are no rare elements and whatnot) Might have to give this a go :)

Don't forget when comparing those 2 sets, that the Emerald night didn't come with any tracks, and those aren't cheap...

6564 and 6565 are the wedges replace them with: 43722 and 43723 Replace each wedge with 3 plates and it'll work perfectly
-
Oh, and one more thing for those people thinking about building this, you can easily (and cheaply) replace the 2x3 wedges with (3)2x3 wedge plates. I did this when I bricklinked my UCS Millenium Falcon. (saves a fortune). I'm going to keep looking at the PDF and part list for other good cost savings ideas. (what parts are hidden and can be color swapped, etc). Awesome amount of work in the docs, and a nice build. This might be the first project that gets me to canabalize my other sets to build (both my death stars are torn down at the moment, so they will be the first to go... :) )

Couple quick things I noticed when trying to import the file into BrickLink: 1. <QTY>5</QTY> needs to be changed to <MINQTY>5</MINQTY> or you wont get minimum quantities when importing. 2. Users might consider replacing <ITEMID>298c05</ITEMID> with <ITEMID>4592c02</ITEMID> (not the same color, but best choice I think for availability) 3. Users might consider changing <CONDITION>N</CONDITION> to <CONDITION></CONDITION> This will change the Condition from New to New or Used. (depends on preference) I wanted to get it into BrickLink to see what the pieces needed are. Have to look through my collection and see how much I have and if I want to attempt this monster :) Also will look at the plans to see what colors can be subbed in for cost savings.. Thanks again!

I reported it too, hope it helps And money sent to setechnic for an awesome work of art!

I can't see them making a UCS of this set, and certainly not with that many pieces. For me, it's worth it for the $$ to repay them for the incredible work put in. Hell, I spent more money on lunch today!. I'll be sending my payment along soon, hopefully I'll get a change to build it!

Made this, got to say, it's really cute.

I had a lot of left over parts from the 2nd rancor pit, and I think I only had to dip into my own supply for a few basic blocks (2x4's, etc) Once you build the first one, it's pretty easy to look at the pics and see how to expand it. It's sad that Lego could have done this with like 100 or so extra parts. I did also make the pit 2 blocks higher, that helped a lot. It's worth it, and a nice looking set not with the palace on top. Give it a try!

Best Mod ever. Just finished mine:
