That would have to be George Lucas. How many different version of the Star Wars films did he release? Extended, remastered, etc, etc, etc :)

[MOC] Minifig-scale B-Wing (with instructions and LDD)
Flash replied to krispy's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I used the 1.0 LXF, because I ordered the parts before 1.1 came out. I can see why it was re-enforced. I built the stand with leftovers, so that's why it doesn't match as well (I should have ordered pieces for the stand with the bwing, but oh well) It's really a nice size, I need to get the full size one now to put them side by side :) (and then the mini scale planet series one when it comes out).- 125 replies

[MOC] Minifig-scale B-Wing (with instructions and LDD)
Flash replied to krispy's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Just finished this, and I love it. Looks great.I had to sub some colors, but you get the idea. Using the LXF file was the only way to go, LDD instructions are a mess. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/203/img0502vp.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/834/img0504ez.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/33/img0505ia.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/692/img0506ebe.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/543/img0507np.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/844/img0508af.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/23/img0511eq.jpg/- 125 replies

http://www.instructables.com/id/Lego-Portal-Turret/ I think that's what you are looking for :)
-
Ok, a little more looking, and I have a few suggestions, based on real Lego color choices on some of the bricks: #1. Replace the light blue color on the exterior with Tan. This goes for the 1x2 tile, 1x4 tile, 1x2 Logs, 1x2 plates, and 1x10 plate. Everywhere you have light blue on the exterior, replace with tan. #2. The refrigerator. The "handle" isn't available in that color :( Try replacing all the pieces with Black for the refrigerator (or light blueish grey, or white) #3. The Bed. The slopes don't come in the same shades of green, try Blue maybe. Hope you understand, I love the design, and you've done a great job taking pics of it and adding all the small details! That's the reason I've looked so closely at it, it's really nice. Flash

What actual color blue did you use? The reason I ask, is that the 1x2 logs only come in 1 shade of blue (Blue). So there's no light blue, or medium blue, or light aqua... Just wondering if it's possible to build it with the current color scheme. Thanks

Once you get through the first season, it gets much better -
I'd say don't start until you have all the pieces, but it looks to late for that already. I did that, and it drove me nuts stopping every page or two while waiting for a bricklink order to come in. I'm sure you already have done this, but if a part is expensive and in limited quantity in the right color, look at the plans and decide if it can be easily changed out. Unless you want to exactly re-create the original kit, you can save a fortune by making some simple changes. (black technic beams is a good first start) Enjoy! I think I love mine more after going through the bricklink search and order process, was a lot of fun!

Seems like Mods should close this thread, or at least merge it with this one: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=57894 Yes you can self build, it's been discussed in the other thread.

Love the idea, and a big plus as it'll be completly customizeable. However, there's a big problem I see, that that's heat. Current cases are almost all aluminum or steel, so they help to dissipate all that heat. Fans will help, just something to think about.

US amazon.com doesn't have it anymore, only through 3rd party for $499 (used to be $398) shop.lego.com has it backordered. Is this the end of the run for them? Mine's being delivered today thanks to the Target sale last week :)

3 plates = 1 brick... 3x http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?itemID=17755&colorID=86 = 1x http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?colorID=86&itemID=1535 The Boat rigging can be bought in black instead of Grey... Most of the long Technic beams (1x16) are hidden inside the structure, I used yellow ones I had laying around... So, there are a lot of things you can do to cut costs, as long as you aren't trying to re-create the set to 100% accuracy. Several of the larger plates can easily be substituted for Dark grey instead of light, I know I did (and also that stupid dark red plate) Think outside the box a little :)
-
not sure if other people realized this, but the boat rigging from 4195 (Queen Anne's Revenge) is the same (supposedly) as the one from 10179. Since I'm building 10179 now, and I've got 4195 on the way (thank you amazon sale - $83.99 with free 2 day shipping) I'll let y'all know. Might be the same rigging from the Black Pearl too, but I haven't looked.
-
getting all the parts together to build the 10179 Millenium Falcon :)
-
That's one of those pieces that needs to be replaced, will have to see what I can do. That and the boat rigging aren't gonna happen
-
I'm also starting the "project" to build 10179. I am changing colors where I can, and trying to keep the costs down. First couple of BL orders placed, now the fun begins :)
-
True, but TLG doesn't make any money off the sets they no longer produce. Hurting the "Value" of the UCS MF by re-releasing it will only make them more money. If TLG made money off each sale of the existing sets, or off of BL, then it wouldn't be in their best interest, but in this case, a rep-release would make them money. At least that's how I see it.
-
I too would love to have this set, and missed buying it years ago (was just before I got back into Lego). That being said, I'm working on a list and costs of the bricklink option. So far, I've got the (estimated) price down to $455 (not counting any shipping...) and with no minifigs. I've had to make a few substitutions to keep the cost down. (like those translucent blue 1x2 plates that were only issued with 10179) Really want to get this set, so we'll see if I can convince myself to start buying the pieces :)

Megabloks is stealing Technic building techniques
Flash replied to Plastic Nurak's topic in Community
Frequent browser, first time poster, so forgive me. Couple o comments about this. I have the set in question (It's the Halo Pelican) I also have several of the other Halo themed sets. I also am a big fan of Lego, and am building a collection up (technic, modular buildings, Taj Mahal, etc) I love them all. I can tell you that the MegaBloks quality isn't quite there. Some blocks fit together tight, some loose. The color control is a bit off. If Lego had the Halo theme building sets, then I wouldn't have any of the Megabloks, and that'd be fine with me. I bought them as I love the Halo Universe, and love building things. Just remember, competition is good. More selection, lower prices, etc. And, for what it's worth, MegaBloks is a Canadian company, so not sure how that affects the patents.
